A female is ready when her back side is swollen and has a little bit of blood coming out. This happens every 6 months. Tit usually starts between 5-9 months of age as well. Some dogs don't mature as quick as others, so the age of heat isn't guaranteed

Great Danes do not under any circumstances get bred by the sentences above. Females should not be bred before 2 years of age, preferably after 3 heat cycles. These cycles happen anywhere between 7-12 months from each other. Males at the earliest should breed at a year and a half. Both sexes should be cleared of any health or genetic problems and tested and certified for these health problems.

Can you bread a chihuahua with a Great Dane?
You could not do female Chihuahua male Great Dane, the size of the puppies would kill the Chihuahua in a matter of weeks. You would have to do a female Great Dane and a male Chihuahua by artificial insemination. I'm not 100% sure, but it should be possible by all means. And there is no way of determining what offspring will look like.

Great Danes eat a lot of food. Males will usually eat between seven and ten cups of food per day. Females will eat a bit less, usually six to eight cups.
I have two great danes, brother and sister, they are about 6 months old and we go through about a 45 lb. bag of dog food a week. They are growing fast and our vet said they are an ideal weight for their stature. As puppies they will eat roughly 6-8 cups of food per day, that will lever down as they grow into adulthood. As adults, they don't eat more than any other large breed dog, maybe 2-4 cups per day depending on activity level. I free-feed my Dane, and have since she was a pup at the breeder's suggestion, and she has maintained a perfect physique, if anything a tad underweight.

It all really depends on how sick the breeder is of them and how quickly they need to be gotten rid of, if you want a cheaper dane try and find a breeder with only several pups left however, this means you have the leftovers and perhaps the pups that werent as nice looking

Toby is 205 lbs. and a 36.5 inches at his back. And she has a female that is an oddball, her back is 38 inches and is like 150-160. so they are very big and tall dogs. if you buy the right ones. Some only get to 100 pounds as a female. most males are over 110 pounds.
