How can you tell if your baby guinea pig is blind?
Ideally, get it in a dark room and shine monocromatic light (the colour you want to test) onto something the guinea pig might want to see. Know that they have a good enough sense of smell so doing this with food might be tricky however.
Are Guinea Pigs classed as Pigs?
No, guinea pigs are not really pigs... they are rodents.
Tsk tsk to the answer above!
Guinea pigs are not considered rodents, either!
They are really in their own little category ;]
Some say they are closest related to chinchillas!
How cute!
No they're not really pigs, they ARE part of the rodent family
and so are Chinchillas!
Can an adult guinea pig be with a different baby guinea pig?
Guinea pigs are remarkably mature at birth compared to most other common pets. They may start eating solid food shortly after birth, but should be kept with their mother until they are at least two weeks old and are eating solid food regularly.
At 3 weeks they should certainly be mature enough to survive without nursing. They may also be starting to reach sexual maturity.

Is Dawn dish detergent safe to clean guinea pigs with?
No. Rabbits are usually very good at self-grooming, like cats. They only need to be bathed under certain, specific circumstances (like the results of a fibre-poor diet, illness, or accident) and then never with any kind of soap, unless directed by a veterinarian.
If your bunny has gotten into something like oil or paint, take him/her to the vets for help! These are toxic substances and you need professional help to get them off.
How many times can a hamster have babies?

How often should guinea pigs have vegetables?
Opinion 1:
Yes. You can not feed a guinea pig cabbage and you have to feed carrots in moderation. Do NOT feed daily. Carrots are high in sugar and can cause kidney and bladder stones in guinea pigs.
Opinion 2:
There is no problem with feeding guinea pigs cabbage, as they will only eat as much as is good for them. Guinea pigs will not over-eat carrots, cabbage or any other vegetable. Simply remove the uneaten food each day so it is not left to rot.
The only thing one should avoid is potato peelings. Also, if you are feeding your guinea pig pumpkin, avoid leaving the seeds in it, as these seeds can catch in their front teeth.
Can you get ringworm from guinea pigs?
you should be asking "can you not get scabies from a ginea pig"
Certainly if the guinea is infested with the itch mite (an insect) commonly referred to as scabies. Scabies are easily passed from person to person so I would assume they could just as easily be passed from person to guinea pig. All it requires is close contact. Jeff T. RN
What are the differences between guinea pigs and rabbits?
Guinea pigs are bigger.
Correct Answer!!!!The person above me could not be more wrong!!! Sure they can be bigger, but that's just the start!! Hamsters run on a wheel in their cage. Guinea Pigs do not. Hamsters DO NOT eat citrus fruit (lemons, limes, or any other citric melon) this is harmful to Hamsters. On the other hand, Guinea Pigs need Vitamin C. That's why you put two drops of Vitamin Drops (found in most pet stores) Guinea Pig's water. You put two drops PER OUNCE of water. Hamsters crawl in tubes, run on wheels, and are active in their cage, but not usually easy to cuddle. Guinea Pigs don't do much in their cage, but they get attached to their personal owner and recognize them and they cuddle!!! Hamsters tend to be faster. Guinea Pigs tend to be slower. HAMSTERS SLEEP IN DAY! (alot of people forget that) and Guinea Pigs sleep at night. The list goes on and on. I've done alot of research on both. They have some great care books on both of the Species at Petsmart. Goodluck! Bye! =^^=

Of course not, but you may have noticed faecal matter at or near their mouth. This is because they excrete two types of excrement; the little firm cylindrical faecal matter that you see in their pen, and smaller, rounder, matter which they eat to aid their digestive system.
A guinea pig is not a ruminant animal, but this serves a very similar purpose.
What is the age when baby guinea pigs start to become adult?

How do you know when a hamster has a baby?
if your hamster goes fat and cant climb very well.
it will make a nesting bed in the cage,
it will become a little bit agressive
it will drink loads of water, it is better if you give them bottled water..
normally if the baby's are born they are very tiny and hairless and depend on their mother to look after them! if the mother is young or a first time mother then she MIGHT eat the baby's.
if the babys are born then you have to separate them dad from the cage because he will most likely eat the baby's.
don't pick up your pregnant hamster and if you do pick it up gently and not from the stomach!
Get a shoe box, fill it about half way with tissues , place your guinea pig in the box and then fill it up to the top with tissues over the piggy.
p.s, shut the lid!!
dig a hole and bury it in a nice place in the back yard!!!
sorry :(
Your dog wont eat or drink from the bowls what should you do?
Many times this is because they wish to eat with you. If you stand next to the bowl - then will dog eat from it? If you did not raise the dog from puppy - then it was to get food from others who took over the bowl and did not allow dog to eat from said bowl. Two possible issues as to why.
I'm not a vet, but if it were my dog, and this is unusual behavior for it, I wouldn't go more than 2 days without calling the vet.
another answer-
Well my Maltese did that and we had to put like crackers mixed in with the food... that worked and one day we found out by rolling a piece down a wood floor and she thought it was like a treat and she would play with it and then finally eat it..... !!!! it REALLY works!
