Guinea Pigs

There are a number of places that sell guinea pigs, firstly it would be good to try a local pet shop, as information can also be picked up about housing and accessories that the animal will need. Alternatively there are rescue centres and animal shelters that offer the option to re-house animals that have either been handed in or abandoned. This type of a place would also be able to provide useful hints and tips.

I'm not sure about Portuguese, but I know many South American countries do.

If your gerbil is not eating then it might have overgrown teeth or maybe with some gerbils if you have changed your gerbils diet it might not be used to it or it might be your fedding it too much

They weigh much less and barely eat or drink. But they are masters at hiding their illness because before they were domesticated they would hide their illness to show they weren't weak to protect themselves from predators. Weigh them weekly to make sure!

More then likely it means she don't like him, she's giving him "love bites", or you put him in HER cage.
Female Guinea Pigs are very territorial. If you put him in her cage you may want to take him out and introduce them again on unfamiliar ground like maybe in a box or on the floor let them get used to each other (and while they are, clean out her cage and use soap and water to get her scent off of it so she won't realize it's her cage when you put them both back) If she don't like him she'll bite hard enough to make him squeal and possibly even draw blood and she'll chase him all around the cage. If this is the case you may have to get rid of one or buy another cage for the other Guinea Pig. If you just want them together to breed them then keep him away until she's in the latest phase of heat (touching her backside makes but come up and she coos) then put HER in his cage...they should breed rather then fight but it's not 100% guarenteed. If it's love bites she'll only do it ever so often and it's just tiny nibbles that make him squel or coo...if this is the case no biggie just leave them alone.

It could be because they've eaten something that they're not meant to have. diarrhoea can be quite dangerous for guinea pigs. one of my gpigs had it when she'd eatin a bit of silver beet once.. but after a week or so she got better. Otherwise it could be a problem with the guinea pig, and i suggest taking it to a vet to check it out.

The guinea pig may be territorial for a bit, but she will warm up to her.

Just be sure to be a little more careful with boys. The're a bit more aggressive than

Yes as long as they are litter mates or if they are adopted bonded pigs. Askyour local petstore( if buying) if they are brothers or ask your local adotion center ( if adopting) if they have been bonded!

A hybrid guinea pig is a guinea pig that is not a pure bred. Its mother may be a abyssian and its father may be a texel. purebreds parents are the same (mom and dad are both texel).

Walnuts are not good for Guinea pigs as they do not digest fatty foods like nuts or seeds well.

I myself own two girl guinea pigs. But i dont understand why they get along so well.

I belive that it my just be that girls have no competition, because the competition is left to the boy guinea pigs. So, therefore, that is why girl guinea pigs get along better than boy guinea pigs.

well if u want your pet to have a friend it is a good idea ...yes sometime male guinea pigs will fight but not very often....they r more likely to fight if they are the same age ....so by adding a new younger guinea pig with an older one is the best way and best chance they will make the best of friends ...just always make sure...there is always plenty of food and fresh water, if u need to add 2 bowls of food to the cage or hutch then do so ....male guinea pigs also seem to need more space then females so a nice big hutch or cage xxx

Male guinea pigs have been known to make a female pregnant when they are only a month old. But usually the male becomes fertile and wants to breed around 3-6 months of age. If you are planning on breeding, I suggest not to because the risk that the female will die giving birth or that she will give birth to "lethals" (babies without eyes or have crooked teeth) is high.

That is very serious! If their lip is cut off, pick up the little piece and TAKE IT TO THE ANIMAL HOSPITAL!

u cannot give lettuce to a guinea pig because it makes them really sick and lettuce is way too thick to a guinea pig so if your out there and you have a pet guinea pig DONT FEED IT LETTUCE plz dont

It's probably a bad idea. They can get fibers stuck in their throat and choke. If you want to put fabric in your piggies' cage, use fleece.
