Hammerhead Sharks favorite food is a Sting Ray. They use their hammer like heads to pin the Ray down on the ocean floor and eat it bite by bite. The Ray does not sting them though because they ar immune to the electricity. electric shock.

Hammerheads usually mate once a year and this happens when the male shark bites the female violently until she agrees to mate with him. After fertilization and gestation, the female gives birth to around 12 to 15 pups. The Great Hammerhead which is much larger than other species gives birth to litters of around 20 to 40 pups. Hammerheads do not raise their young. The young swim off immediately after birth and stay away from elders who might kill & consume them. The baby sharks huddle together and swim towards warmer & shallow waters and stay together until they are old enough to defend themselves.

I think that a great idea. I've always wanted to live near the ocean for a source of real salt water for aquarium. You'll have to aerate it to keep it alive and some of the plankton is going to die, so you need a good filter. Keep an eye on the pH. I think it's suppose to be 8.2, but get a pH meter and take a reading of the ocean and keep your pool at whatever you get. Use fresh water to make up for evaporation or it will get too salty and you'll wind up having something more like the Dead Sea. The Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi just recirculates the ocean for their water and that's the best.

Check on the salinity required immediately because it is much lower then sea water other than that and getting rid of the original algae etc it sounds like a good Idea.

I'm on Big Island of Hawaii and you can see offshore about a mile or so in January. It looks like they're speed dating.

The kids need attention and their mother working takes that away from them. They may become more distant towards their mom and might get closer to someone else.
