Nearly all the fruits and veggies are required. Papayas are excellent for the stomach, bananas are high in Potassium, etc. In veggies leafy greens keep the colon clean! Carrots are good for the eyes, yams are great, especially women because they have naturally occurring estrogen and so on.

Blueberries, blackberries, grapes and strawberries top the list for number of antioxidents! All dark leafy greens are great, espically the super food spinach. Try to eat organic if possible.

You will know when your hamster is happy by the way it runs around and wanders you may try to take the hamster to a new place and it will wander happily as it walks and sniffs around, but if you are used to take your hamster out of the cage everyday and suddenly stop your hamster will want to come outside and will become a little depressed and a little aggresive.

3 out of our 4 hamsters make noises like that all the time! We researched it quite a bit when we first heard it to make sure there was nothing wrong, but everything we read supported what we thought... the 3 main reasons are as follows; # if they are afraid or unsettled they can make hissing or almost screaming noises - our youngest did this once when we first got her but she settled quickly # heavy breathing noises (almost like wheezing) our 3 syrians often do this when they are asleep or just waking up. It starts loud and gets quieter and quieter and can last up to a couple of minutes. I think it's just dreams # squeeking (my favourite) sometimes when we walk past a cage i hear a squeek - i look in the cage and they're sitting upright trying to get our attention... It means they want a treat or a run in the ball (but usually both) Hope this helps someone!

Hamster cages should be cleaned by removing all bedding, toys, etc. Rinse out the water bottle and let it dry out. Once everything is out of the cage, take a damp cloth and wash the floor and sides of the cage. While you are cleaning the cage, you can put your hamster in the sink or another place that they cant get out of with your back turned.

Hey there I hae three hamsters! My little hamster Sugar had two cuts one on her left leg and another on her right. I didn't know what to do. I left them alone for a few days and they healed she has little spots on her legs where the cuts were but there all healed. Once they are healed you might notice theres no fur on by the cut/ on the cut. But it will take time for the cute to heal! - Hope this helps

A female hamster shouldn't even be in the same cage as a male hamster,unless you are trying to breed them.If they are together the male will naturally try to mate with her,it doesn't matter to him that she might not be in heat. If a female isn't in heat she will attack any male that is in the cage with her.Also if you are putting 2 hamsters together with the intention of breeding you should always hand breed. Hand breeding is when you wait until the female is in heat and you put her and the male in neutal territory. Always wear gloves and have a ruler handy so that if need be you can separate them from fighting,although this rarly happens.After they actually start to mate supervise them for 40 minutes and then put both back in their own cages.Approximately 16 days later you should have babies.

Yes! Cardboard is one thing that gerbils cherish. Definitely put cardboard in the cage. It is totally safe and fun for them. If you want cheap entertainment for them, just put carboard in.

Hamsters sleep in different places occasionally because like humans, they get bored with certain things... Humans for example like to change the appearance of their living rooms, their bedrooms, etc. Also, sleeping in their food bowl, you have to admit, is very handy for eating when they wake up.

I have 2 Chinese dwarf hamsters currently. One of them ended up dying, because they had some kind of cold or disease. We tried everything for that poor girl. Her name was Cheerio. BRING THEM TO THE VET! That's one thing that you shall do, because they will give you medication for the hamster. Yes, they have a vet for hamsters :) And so he died in my hand that night. It was terrible.

SIGNS OF THEM BEING SICK:

Hunched back

Loss of hunger/appetite

Inactivity/weak/tired/oozy

A dirty or matted coat/maybe even rough skin

Red or flaky skin

Lumps beneath the skin

Itchy

Heaving breathing

sneezing

dull eyes(half closed)

Shaking or shivering(sometimes they shiver because they are cold, mine shakes, but its not sick)

Wetness near the tail area( which that means tha]ey most likely have wet tail, check everyday because it might be pee as well)

Diarrhea

If you want to start holding your baby hamster you should atleast wait until some hair comes because the baby can get sick by people's germs so wait until it has some hair and could walk normally abit

It really depends on YOUR hamster. It can be allergic to its food, bedding or even the house hold items in your house. But not every hamster has allergy's.

Hamsters can swim. Almost all mammals can swim. However, hamsters do not like being wet, they can groom themselves and are capable of maintaining themselves. It is not advisable to give them a bath, because they can die if they have a cold. They're fragile animals. So be careful!!

Hamsters are pretty robust little creatures, and very few foods afect them, although the following can cause illness:

Cucumber [diarrea]


Chocolate and and anything with sugar [ sickness]


Unpipped fruits and vegetables [if you don't remove seeds or pips your hamster may choke]


Peanut butter [ although you can give it to your rodents, I advise you to mix it with water to stop it from sticking to the insides of your hamster's food pouches]


Safe treats:


Shreddies with a very thin layer of peanut butter spread


Cheerios


Seedless fruit and veg


yogurt drops


unshelled peanuts [your hamster will have a field day trying to get the shell off and it'll strengthen it's teeth]


leftover chicken, sausage or bacon [ hamsters are obnivores and surprisingly love meat! But give in small portions]

Make sure that your bag of hamster chow does not sit around for more than 3-4 months because the vitamin E added to the diet during manufacture can degrade under prolonged storage, and this species is known to be prone to Vitamin E deficiency problems.

I give my hamster lettuce, celery ,spinach, carrots ,and other leafy greens.

Better to give raw vegetables, fruit is much to high in natural sugars.

Hamsters have very sensitive skin, so anything can irritated it, make sure to clean it's cage and if it doesn't get any better then you'll have to take it to a vet.

Not officially but do check it visually to see if it is fresh. Fruit/seed mixes should smell sweet. If a large quantity of food is purchased (commercial hamster block or other), take a little out that you will use in a few weeks and put the rest in the refrigerator to maintain freshness.

Also, try not to overfeed your hamster so that it eats what you provide it within 1-2 days. 4 blocks a day is sufficient plus an occasional treat.

Yes, it may be from chewing on the bars but my hamster does that and hasn't got any sores from it. He/she may have injured themselves so the best thing to do is talk to a vet and see if they can help.

Oh please don't do that your dwarf hamster might get diabetes and that's no good you can get some burges hamster treats and there are some for dwarfs.
