What is true about both hepatitis A and B?
They are sometimes caused by a virus.
They can be prevented with a vaccine.
Hep A and B can cause swelling or inflammation, and possible damage, to the liver.
Hepat= liver
itis= swelling, inflammation
Thus: hepatitis= swelling or inflammation of the liver.
There is also Hep C which is very hard and in some cases impossible to cure, and Hep C has no vaccine. Fortunately it is more rare to contract Hep C (mostly IV drug users or unprotected anal sex).
Does hepatitis can be spread to other people?
blood transfusions and sexual activity. some hepatitis can cause liver failure and other complications so be careful.
How dangerous is marijuana to a hep b patient?
its not dangerous at all. cancer patients use it so why would it affect an STD more than a cancer patirent
How long can a person live with hepatitis d and lupus?
hepatitis d life is according hepatitis b it viral infection, and lupus is autoimmune skin disease 55 to 60 year pass away
Hi Beth-thanks for the interesting question! I'm not aware of a lot of research in this area, but here are some things to consider. First off, there's no way to guarantee the safety of the leftover food you would be eating; simply put, anything that touched someone's mouth was exposed to all the bacteria that live there--some of which are potentially pathogenic, or disease-causing. Additionally, pathogens live on the hands and can be spread to food by poor hygienic practices. You brought up hepatitis-there are several types of hepatitis, but only Hepatitis A (or E, although this would be less common) would be a concern; this can be transmitted orally. If you heat the food to at least 185 degrees C for at least a minute it theoretically should kill the virus. Oral herpes is a virus that can be transmitted through contaminated food and drink. And, there are a host of other pathogenic bacteria that could be spread through food. All this being said, lots of people do what you're thinking about. If you decide to try it, I'd suggest avoiding altogether any type of food that's required multiple passes with a person's fork or mouth, such as mashed potatoes or a chicken wing. Stick to something that can be separated into an 'exposed' portion and an 'unexposed' portion, like a steak filet that is only partially eaten (you would cut off the end that has been eaten from and eat the remaining portion). And avoid anything that has been near anyone with any signs of illness (cough, sneeze etc). For good measure, it might be a good idea to avoid eating food from patrons that got up during their meal, just in case they used the restroom and failed to wash their hands.
What year did they start adding hep B shots to the baby vaccination series?
That was about 1992 or 1993.
When a vaccine is used 3 days before its expiration is it still effective?
The expiration date is there so you know an approximate date when it should not be used. Three days before an expiration wouldn't do harm, a day or two after expiration might not do harm either, but avoid using vaccines (or any medications) that are after their expiration date.
Why children with hepatitis A are asymptomatic?
Children with hepatitis A often exhibit asymptomatic cases due to their generally robust immune response and the mild nature of the virus in younger populations. Their immune systems can effectively manage the infection without triggering severe symptoms, leading to a higher likelihood of asymptomatic cases compared to adults. Additionally, the viral load in children may be lower, resulting in minimal impact on liver function and overall health. Consequently, many children may not exhibit the classic symptoms associated with hepatitis A, such as jaundice or abdominal pain.
How do maps hep us understand places?
Maps help us understand places by visually representing geographic information, allowing us to see the relationships between different locations. They provide context through features such as topography, infrastructure, and cultural landmarks, making it easier to grasp spatial patterns and connections. Additionally, maps can highlight demographic data and resources, enhancing our awareness of social, economic, and environmental aspects of a region. Overall, they serve as valuable tools for navigation, planning, and analysis.
Hepatitis A is a virus that contaminate through read-to-eat food.?
Hepatitis A is a viral infection that primarily spreads through the consumption of contaminated food and water, particularly ready-to-eat items that have been handled by an infected person. The virus can survive on surfaces and in food if proper hygiene practices are not followed. Symptoms include fatigue, nausea, abdominal pain, and jaundice, and while it usually resolves on its own, vaccination is an effective preventive measure. Ensuring good sanitation and food safety practices can significantly reduce the risk of transmission.
What of the following indicates that a patient has hepatitis B?
Indicators of hepatitis B in a patient can include the presence of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) in the blood, which signifies an active infection. Other markers may include elevated liver enzymes (ALT and AST), the presence of hepatitis B e-antigen (HBeAg), and specific antibodies such as anti-HBc IgM. Additionally, symptoms like jaundice, fatigue, and abdominal pain may suggest hepatitis B infection. A combination of these laboratory results and clinical symptoms is typically used for diagnosis.
Why do people with hemophilia run the risk of having hepatitis?
Not all people with Hemophilia have AIDS or HIV. Due to very lax screening in blood/plasma collection centers and inadequate screening and purification on the manufacturing ends during the 1980s many hemophiliacs were infected with HIV by the medications used to treat hemophilia. Roughly 50% of the hemophilia population (or 10,000 individuals) in the United States were infected during the 1980s in this manner.
Today, the number of people with hemophilia in the united states is estimated to be roughly 20,000. Approximately 2500 of the original 10,000 infected hemophilia patients are still alive. Looking at the numbers today, this means that only 12.5% of the hemophilia population has HIV and/or AIDS.
Is Hepatitis B an airborne infection?
I was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
liver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www .ultimatelifeclinic. com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
Can a person with hepatitis deploy?
Whether a person with hepatitis can deploy depends on the type and severity of the hepatitis, as well as military regulations and health assessments. Generally, individuals with chronic hepatitis may face restrictions due to potential health risks and the need for ongoing medical care. Each case is evaluated individually, taking into account the person's overall health and the demands of military service. It's essential for affected individuals to consult with their medical provider and follow military guidelines.
What is an inconclusive Hep B titer mean?
An inconclusive Hepatitis B titer means that the test results do not clearly indicate immunity or susceptibility to the virus. This can occur if the levels of antibodies are too low to provide a definitive result or if there is some interference in the test. In such cases, further testing may be necessary to determine the individual's Hepatitis B status, including possible re-testing or assessing for the presence of the virus itself. It's important for individuals with inconclusive results to consult with a healthcare provider for proper interpretation and next steps.
What is the name of the pathogen that causes hepatitis C?
Hepatitis B is caused by the Hepatitis B virus (HBV).
Hepatitis C is caused by the Hepatitis C virus (HCV).
Hepatitis B virus belongs to the family Hepadnaviridae, and the genus Orthohepadnavirus.
Hepatitis C virus belongs to the family Flaviviridae, and the genus Hepacivirus.
Can Hepatitis cause spleenomegaly?
Hepatitis can lead to chronic liver disease or cirrhosis. This can lead to the spleen becoming enlarged. Some people with this will also develop swollen veins in the stomach and eosophagus which are called varices
Can you get hepatitis C from a restaurant?
It is extremely unlikely that you will get hepatitis C from a restaurant. Hepatitis C is spread from blood to blood. A cook would need to spill his own blood on an item. You would need to eat that item and it would need to enter your body through an open sore in your mouth. If the virus gets as far as your stomach, it is dead.
Hepatitis A spreads far easier in a restaurant. If you see a cook use a bathroom and he does not wash his hands, walk out of that restaurant.
