Well mate, the homeless as you probably know beg for money on the streets using either their skills or stench and some stupid graffers leave their implements of illegalness lying around.

Some homeless people do not like homeless shelters's they feel it in with with their rights they may not want to wake up early or have to be there by a certain time or they may want to stay on whatever from they TAZR

Typically, panhandling reaps about $20 per hour. Of course, it depends on the location and how many other panhandlers he's competing with to get your dollar. That homeless guy might be doing better than you are. The guys that wash your windscreen at the traffic lights make up to $150-$200 per hour, and then go and spend it on drugs. I generalise, of course. I'm sure there are many windscreen washers that aren't junkies, but a lot are.

Many cities have centers that homeless people can visit, these are called missions. They provide a place for them to sleep on cold nights and to get something to eat. Some cities also have a LifeSpin Store which takes donations and allows people to choose gently used clothes with no cost.

Call shelters in the area which you think that person may be, they sometimes can help you by saying they are there or they have been there,If that person is there you can have them give them a message.

Go sit in a park and talk to the homeless. After an hour or so, chances are that someone (who is homeless) that you talk to will know the person that you are looking for- they'll give you an idea where that person will be.

Oregon's DMV has a unique solution: You need to provide a 'descriptive address', such as "Under the west end of the Burnside Bridge", along with a mailing address (i.e. P.O. Box, like General Delivery), and completing a "Certification of Oregon Residency or Domicile". If you live in a motor home, a "continuous traveler" identifying description, etc. Perhaps other states could be persuaded to follow Oregon's example. In Canada, all you need to do is speak to a councilor at any men's mission, salvation army or the like.. they will guide you through the process... you will be required to sign an affidavit and your address will be that of the respective resource you utilized, eg. The men's mission or Salvation army.

Several, but the most prominent are Shelter and also Crisis. Shelter tends to focus upon people who have some sort of accomodation but no PERMANENT homes of their own, whereas Crisis tends to focus upon those who are actually destitute and living rough on the streets.

There is also a multi-denominational religious organisation called Church Action Against Poverty, which was founded in 1982 and aims to co-ordinate churches and religious organisations of all faiths in helping to allieviate homelessness.

Other charities include The Salvation Army, the British Legion (which helps ex-servicemen who are destitute) and a number of other smaller charity groups.

Mostly social apathy. This is due to the "bystander effect" (otherwise known as Genovese syndrome). When someone sees someone else needing help, they may not help. In a sense, if you don't like the television program you're watching, you just change the channel.

Social Psychologists believe this is because many people have little to no physical or emotion attachment to the person needing aid. If it was a family member who was homeless and asking for your help, then you would (most likely) do everything in your power to help them because you have an invested attachment. However, if it was a stranger asking for your help- someone you have no attachment to- then you will likely walk past them. This differs from person to person, as someone who is morally-minded would likely have an emotional attachment to anyone suffering, despite their relationship (or lack, thereof). If it does not affect your life very much, then the chance you will aid someone in need diminishes greatly.
