How do you block websites?

there are 2 ways to block internet sites.
1. host.cfg

In "Local Disk (C:) > WINDOWS > system32> drivers > etc", you will find a file named "host.cfg". The Hosts file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. This file is loaded into memory (cache) at startup, then Windows checks the Hosts file before it queries any DNS servers, which enables it to override addresses in the DNS. This prevents access to the listed sites by redirecting any connection attempts back to the local (your) machine.
You may use "notepad.exe" to edit this Hosts file.
Example - the following entry 127.0.0.1 ad.doubleclick.net blocks all files supplied by that DoubleClick Server to the web page you are viewing.

4. Internet filtering products

You also can use internet filtering products to do web filtering. An internet filtering product can be deployed in your network, and it enables you to monitor, filter and block internet activities of all computers from a mirroring port.
More than web filtering, internet filtering product can also block file downloading, block p2p traffic and block messenger.

For internet filtering software, you can try "Aobo web filter"

Difference a web page and website?

Consider the following:

A website is a group of webpages.

Imagine a big business like KMart or General Motors. Their website contains webpages for each department in their organization, for each promotional campaign they create and for every business they are contacted with.

Their website consists of 100s of webpages.

Most small businesses can get all their company information in as few as 5 pages. I have seen businesses with only a single webpage. Their website consists of 1 page.

A website is created the same way a webpage is created. As you create webpages, it is common to add a navigational link to your other pages. This process of binding togather the webpages creates what is commonly know as a website.

A website may contain one or more than one (virtually any number) webpages while a webpage is always a single entity.

Regular users are not allowed to post links. Doing so could lead to supervisor warnings. In the past, there was a related links feature. That has been discontinued. In its place is the new expert contributor system. Those who declare themselves as experts in their profiles and are approved as such by Community Assistants are allowed to use hyperlinks in the expert editor.

To use the hyperlink feature, you first type your text. Then you highlight the section you want to turn into a link and click on the Add Link tool in the toolbar. Then type or paste the URL in the blank given and click on Submit Query. To test the created hyperlink before saving the answer, you can right click on it in the open answer and open the link into a new tab or window.
