And the way we no what sins not to commit is by the use of the bible, it is a reference for Pentecostals. We don't say that were perfect but we try to follow the rules of the bible.
Some of the problem comes from some of the specifics of various Pentecostal statements of faith. Pentecostals see the support in the Bible, whereas others do not.

Tongues, Salvation, and the Baptism of the Holy SpiritSome Pentecostal groups believe that speaking in tongues is the evidence of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and/or the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Others make the connection that one cannot be saved without one or both of those, and thus the person who has never spoken in tongues is not saved.
Acts chapter 2 provides an example where speaking in tongues is evidence at the initial baptism of the Holy Spirit. Other portions of Acts, however, do not mention this. Pentecostals assume that the tongues were there, non-Pentecostals often assume they were not there.
Tongues and Unknown LanguagesPentecostals tend to believe in a "heavenly" language or a "prayer language" that is distinct from being able to speak an existing language without having first studied it. 1 Corinthians 14 is often used as support for this prayer language, known technically as glossolalia. Non-Pentecostals see the phrase, "If I speak with the tongues of men or of angels" as being exaggeration used to make the point that it doesn't matter from what source the tongues come, without love they are worthless.
