When does the Muslim holiday of Ramadan occur?

Muslims celebrate Ramadan by fasting all day from sunrise until sunset. This means that you wake up early in the morning, and have a kind of breakfast/lunch. Then you don't eat at all until sunset, which is when you break your fast. Breaking your fast is called Iftaar. In Iftaar, you eat some snacks such as dates and mixed fruit, but it is not specific to what you can eat during Iftaar. After maybe half an hour or so of the Iftaari time, you have dinner. Hope I helped!

Why Muslims pray before an animal is slaughtered for food?

Dr. Zakir Niak in his book 'Answers to non-Muslims common questions' reply to this questiom as;

The Islamic method of slaughtering animals, known as Zabiha has been the object of much criticism from a large number of people. One may consider the following points, which prove that the Zabiha method is not only humane but also scientifically the best:

1. Islamic method of slaughtering animal

Zakkaytum is a verb derived from the root word Zakah (to purify). Its infinitive is Tazkiyah which means purification. The Islamic mode of slaughtering an animal requires the following conditions to be met:

a. Animal should be slaughtered with sharp object (knife)

The animal has to be slaughtered with a sharp object (knife) and in a fast way so that the pain of slaughter is minimised.

b. Cut wind pipe, throat and vessels of neck

Zabiha is an Arabic word which means 'slaughtered'. The 'slaughtering' is to be done by cutting the throat, windpipe and the blood vessels in the neck causing the animal's death without cutting the spinal cord.

c. Blood should be drained

The blood has to be drained completely before the head is removed. The purpose is to drain out most of the blood which would serve as a good culture medium for micro-organisms. The spinal cord must not be cut because the nerve fibres to the heart could be damaged during the process causing cardiac arrest, stagnating the blood in the blood vessels.

2. Blood is a good medium for germs and bacteria

Blood is a good media of germs, bacteria, toxins, etc. Therefore the Muslim way of slaughtering is more hygienic as most of the blood containing germs, bacteria, toxins, etc. that are the cause of several diseases are eliminated.

3. Meat remains fresh for a longer time

Meat slaughtered by Islamic way remains fresh for a longer time due to deficiency of blood in the meat as compared to other methods of slaughtering.

4. Animal does not feel pain

The swift cutting of vessels of the neck disconnects the flow of blood to the nerve of the brain responsible for pain. Thus the animal does not feel pain. While dying, the animal struggles, writhers, shakes and kicks, not due to pain, but due to the contraction and relaxation of the muscles defecient in blood and due to the flow of blood out of the body.

What are the disadvantages of Islamic economy system?

The economic system of Islam has been given by Almighty God. It is same as it had been given to all the Prophets from Hazrat Adam (AS) down to Hazrat Abraham (AS), Hazrat Josaph (AS), Hazrat Moses (AS), Hazrat Christ (AS), to the last Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (May peace and blessings of Allah Almighty be upon him). Study the old testament, New Testament, Anajeel, The holy Bible. You find that Usury, black-marketing, hoarding, accumulating and multiplying wealth by deception, fraud, oppression, intimidation, usury, cruelty, ect had been unlawful and forbidden in Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Economic system given by Almighty God is for the benefit of all human beings-as all human beings are the creature of Him, and He loves them all provided they believe in him. Ironically speaking, neither the Jews and Christians nor many of the Muslims follow the economic system given by Almighty God. Exceptions are there in all religions.

Please see the Related Link below for a discussion of the criticisms of Islamic Economics.

Why does the Islamic World hate Israel?

1) Just like there are pro-Israel lobbyists and publicists, so too there is also a vast machinery of anti-Israel ranting and rhetoric. Many anti-Israel media twist the facts in their reporting, which is part of the reason why the U.N. and E.U. are biased against Israel. For example, when a terrorist is shot while hurling a firebomb at Israelis, biased sources will report the shooting only. When this kind of reporting happens often enough, some people get the notion that Israel is pure evil.

2) One facet of the desire to wipe out Israel, is plain anti-Semitism. 3) Harm that has been done to the Palestinians, is used as a reason for hatred of Israel, even though some of the harm is caused by people who are not Israelis. For example, some Middle Eastern countries are vastly wealthy, but studiously refrain from giving enough assistance to the Palestinians to improve their livelihood. Another example is Iran's support of terrorism, which creates a cycle in which Israel is forced to defend itself, and the defensive measures are used as an excuse for still more attacks. 4) Anything in Israel's favor is not reported by by biased media. People are unaware that tens of thousands of Palestinians are employed by Israelis. Israel supplies Gaza with electricity and built a hospital there. It purchases thousands of tons of Palestinian agricultural and other products, thus infusing them with much-needed currency. There are tens of other examples. Israel's enemies could lay down their weapons, and ask us directly: "Why hasn't Israel returned to its pre-1967 borders"? Then we could carry on a serious debate. And that issue is not one-sided.
  1. When Israel's neighbors have pursued a policy of discussion and debate, solutions have been implemented, not only argued over. Israel pulled out of Sinai and gained a peace treaty with Egypt. A very cold peace, but a strategic and useful one.
  2. Israel made border-adjustments and water concessions to Jordan, and gained another cold but useful peace.
  3. The same process brought a treaty in May 17, 1983 with Lebanon but it was blocked by Syria.
  4. The same process was almost completed by Rabin and Arafat in 2000. They were at the treaty-signing table, having hammered out all the details. Then Yasser Arafat pulled out of the ceremony, and initiated the Second Intifada, loading the "Karin A" ship with tons of weapons for terror-use.
Further comments: Israel is portrayed as an evil country by some of the media, by many U.N. and E.U. statements, and by much of the Arab and Muslim world.

This despite the fact that Israel has better human-rights than any other country in the region.

Israel has been boycotted for decades, and its citizens have suffered from the conflict, yet it continues to be optimistic and it enjoys God's protection.

The presence of the Jews in Israel is questioned by some, despite the Jews' history in and from Israel, and despite God's clear words bestowing Israel to them. Words which are recognized by Islam as well.

Those who condemn and hate Israel for its side in the conflict, fail to apportion blame to Israel's enemies, no matter how heinous their actions.

Refer to question below.

Can a non Muslim man date a Muslim woman?

Answer A

The rules, per Islamic religion, are that:

  • The Muslim man can marry only a Muslim, Christian (Catholic, Orthodox, or other denominations), or Jewish woman.
  • The Muslim woman (virgin, divorced, or widow) can marry only Muslim (or convert to Muslim) man.

You may say that love is over religion limitations. If you think so, then it is your choice. If you want to deny your religion obligations and requirements to legalize your marriage, then it is your choice. No compulsion in religion. However, choice is responsibility. If you deny you violate your religion obligations and requirements, you hold responsible of your choice and you hold responsible of the consequences of your choice on the Last Day of Judgment in front of God, the Creator.

Answer B: Another hint

It is not allowed for a kafir to marry a Muslim woman. Kafir - unbeliever, ungrateful or obliterater. A person who rejects Islamic faith.

"Under no conditions is a Muslim woman permitted to marry anyone but a Muslim man. The same verse cited above (2:221) mentions, "Nor marry your girls to unbelievers until they believe. A man slave who believes is better than an unbeliever..." No exception is given for women to marry Jews and Christians, so the law stands that she may only marry a believing (Muslim) man. As head of the household, the husband provides leadership for the family. A Muslim woman does not follow the leadership of someone who does not share her faith and values. "

It is not permissible for a Muslim woman to marry a kafir (non-Muslim), whether he is Jewish, Christian or an atheist because the man has authority over his wife, and it is not permissible for a kafir to have authority over a Muslim woman. There are decisive texts from the Qur'an which refer to the prohibition of such marriage. For example, Allah Almighty says:

"And give not (your daughters) in marriage to Al Mushrikun (atheists) till they believe (in Allah Alone)" (Al-Baqarah: 221)

"And never will Allah grant to the disbelievers a way (to triumph) over the believers" (An-Nisaa': 141)

"They are not lawful (wives) for the Unbelievers, nor are the (Unbelievers) lawful (husbands) for them" Quran 60:10

"And do not give your women in marriage to men who ascribe divinity to aught beside Allah." Quran 2:221

Answer 3: Comments on Answer 2

Per Islam teachings; not all non Muslims are Kafir or unbelievers as mentioned above. Christians and Jews are considered by Muslims; per Quran teachings; as people of the book as they are holders of the Bible and the Torah that are God holy books that Muslims believe in their divinity. That is why it is allowed for Muslim men to marry Muslim, Christian, or Jewish women. However, for Muslim women they are allowed to get married to only Muslim men. The reasons behind that is as follows:

In Islam practice, the husband prime responsibility is to cover the family expenses even if his wife works and even if she is earning more money than the husband. In addition, Muslims have faith in the holy books (including Torah and Bible), and in both religions of Judaism and Christianity, and all prophets (including Abraham, Moses, and Jesus) while Jews and Christians do not have faith in Islam, in Quran, and in prophet Mohamed. So, it is logic if husband is Muslim to accept for his Christian or Jewish wife to practice her ritual worships, social activities, and clothing according to her Christian or Jewish religion. However, if the husband is Christian or Jewish he may not accept his Muslim wife to practice her ritual worships, social activities, and clothing according to her Islam religion. That is why a Muslim man can marry a Christian or Jewish girl/woman while a Muslim girl can not marry a Christian or Jewish man.

Some others have the view point that any person of any faith can marry anyone they want and that love conquers all, even religion. However, this is true only if you are not committed to a religion with God or not believing in God at all. If you are committed with God through any religion, what so ever, you have to fulfill this commitment. This is in analogy to one committed with an employer through a work contract (despite the difference between commitment in contract with God, the Creator, and commitment in contract with an employer, creature). Does falling in love with someone entitle you not to go for work or not to fulfill your work commitment? The same answer applies to your commitment with God when you fall in love and thinking of marriage. On the other hand, of course you have full right and full choice to select either to fulfill religion commitment or to abandon the religion you committed to and throw it behind. However, choice is responsibility. You should be aware that your choice defines the consequences that you get in front of God on the Resurrection Day. Either one goes to God Paradise or one be Pushed in Hell fire.
