What are the four types of jihad in Islam?

Jihad, that means in English striving or struggling, is of two types:

  • self Jihad (or oneself struggle and is called the greatest or major Jihad), and
  • military Jihad (or struggle with others and is called the smallest or minor Jihad)

Self Jihad is that any Muslim should practice Jihad or self struggle to avoid doing wrong deeds and/or committing sins that are forbidden by Islam and by his community. It is also doing good things that Allah wants you to do, such as following the morals of Quran and prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), reciting the Quran, helping the poor, striving to fulfill your family requirements, learning and studying useful sciences and arts, etc.

Regarding Military Jihad, it is licit only in two cases:

  • First: to defend home land and home people against any invaders.
  • Second: to provide help and support to other people who are oppressed and unable to practice their own will and freedom of choice.

In both cases, Muslims (as in all other faiths) are commanded, by their religion, to be fair and just. They are forbidden; by Quran and prophet Muhammad teachings; to kill a woman, child, or an old man or any civilian. They are commanded not to be excessive in using force and not to terrify civilians. They are forbidden from spoiling the nature, cutting a tree, or polluting/poisoning air or water.

The above is general view about what is called Jihad (especially in Islam) and about those who are practicing Jihad and are called, recently, jihadists.

How is Islam just a branch of the abrahamic faiths?

The Prophet Abraham is claimed by Jews as the ancestor of the Israelites, while his son Ishmael (Isma'il) is seen in Muslim tradition as the ancestor of the Arabs. In Christian tradition, Abraham is described as a "father in faith" (see Romans 4), which may suggest that all three religions come from one source.

What is the difference between Muslims and black Muslims?

Answer 1

There is no difference in Islam between any race, color or creed. The verse of the Qur'an unequivocally explains this when ALLAH SWT says : "Oh people we have created you from a male and female and we made you into tribes and nations so that you may recognize. Verily the most noble among you by ALLAH SWT are those who are Pious/God fearing." therefore we conclude that the progress of an individual in his Islam is not dependent on the persons race rather on his level of Taqwa(Piety).

Answer 2

If you are using the term "Black Muslims" to refer to Africans, then Answer 1 is completely right. There is, however, a tendency of Muslims outside of the Arab world to practice syncretic forms of Islam. That is to say that they will add non-Islamic customs to their practice of Islam. (This is similar to how Mexican Catholics celebrate Dia de los Muertos even though it has no connection to Catholicism as espoused by Rome.)

If you are referring to the African-American Nation of Islam, there are two major differences between Sunni belief and the Nation of Islam. The biggest difference is that the Nation of Islam teaches that their founder, Master W. Fard Muhammad, is the long-awaited Messiah of the Jews and the Mahdi of the Muslims. Sunnis hold that the Jewish Messiah was Prophet Isa (Jesus) and that the Mahdi has not yet arrived. The second difference is that the Nation of Islam teaches that Whites are an evil race impossible to redeem whereas Sunni Islam holds that all people can become Muslim and go to Paradise.

Answer 3

If by "black muslims" you are referring to the American Nation of Islam, the answer is that no, mainstream Muslims do not consider them true Muslims, primarily for the reason that "true" Muslims believe that Muhommed, the founder of Islam is the last prophet of God, while the Nation of Islam considers Elijah Muhammed a prophet as well. They are outside the mainstream of Islamic sects.

you can convert to Islam but you cant marry a non-muslim because it isn't right. but if it was a man converting to Islam, he can marry a non-muslim women since he has more power over her. unless you tell him to convert to Islam for the sake of god, then its OK but if it was just to marry you then it wont count.

What is the main day of worship in Islam?

Jews do not refer to God as Allah and so do not have a day to worship Allah. Allah is a Muslim term for God.

Although in modern times it is very ecumenical to say that the Jews and Muslims worship the same God, many orthodox Jews and Muslims would disagree and so it is not proper to confuse the two religions and their doctrines, revelations, or types of worship.

The main day of worship on the western Gregorian calendar for Jews is Saturday. For the Muslims it is Friday.

Answer

Many Jews from Arab countries do in fact use the name Allah when referring to God. Religious Jews pray 3 times a day, every day. Shabbat starts Friday at sundown and ends Saturday night. Prayers are done 4 times on Saturday.

What is an Islamic description of heaven?

God says in Holy Quran "

[3:199] But those who fear their Lord shall have gardens through which streams flow; therein shall they abide - an entertainment from Allah. And that which is with Allah is still better for the righteous."

"

[13:24] Gardens of Eternity. They shall enter them and also those who are righteous from among their fathers, and their wives and their children. And the angels shall enter unto them from every gate, saying,"

"[57:22] Vie, then, with one another in seeking forgiveness from your Lord and for a Garden the value whereof is equal to the value of the heaven and the earth; it has been prepared for those who believe in Allah and His Messengers. That is Allah's grace; He bestows it upon whomsoever He pleases, and Allah is the Lord of immense grace."

Can a Muslim touch pork?

As far as I am aware, it is makrouh (strongly hated, but not outright prohibited) for Muslims to engage in the handling or distribution of haraam (forbidden) food products like pork or alcohol. Most Muslims will outright refuse contact with pork; others will consent to handling it, but will need to wash their hands immediately after contact to avoid contaminating halal (permitted) food products.

How do Muslim people treat the world and others?

Muslims believe that you treat others with love, respect, forgiveness, and support (when possible).

Quran, Muslim's holy book, says on encouraging forgiveness (meaning English translation):

" Be quick in the race for forgiveness from you Lord and for the Paradise prepared for righteous; those who spend freely whether in prosperity or in adversity, who restrain anger, and pardon all people..." (Quran, Chapter 49, Verse 13)

Also Quran Golden rule on dealing with people says (meaning English translation):" Woe to those that deal in fraud"(Quran, chapter 83, verse 1). This Golden rule means not enough ' Do as you you would done by' but you must give in full what it is due from you, whether you expect or wish to receive full consideration from the other side or not.

I'm shia Ismaili girl can you marry to shea boy?

Yes if you're a Muslim yourself you may do so by your mutual will. But if not, it is an Islamic rule for muslim women to marry only Muslim men, and for Muslim men, they may marry among women of other religion who are from the people of the book, that is Christians or Jews. If you are a woman yourself, regardless of your religion, it is against Islamic Law for you to marry a Muslim woman.

Not possible to explain the difference between Muslims and non Muslims, because "non Muslims" includes a wide range of religions! but It is possible to explain: what is Islam, and what are the main beliefs of Muslims, hopefully it will answer a part of your question.

Islam: the word ISLAM is an Arabic word, it's literal meaning is SUBMISSION. This represents the submission and adherence to the commands of Allah without objection, which is obtained by obeying Allah and observing his command. Thus Muslims would be in harmony with the universe, for everything in this universe abides by Allah's commands.

1- Muslims believe in one god supreme and eternal, infinite and mighty, merciful and compassionate, the creator and provider, he does not beget nor was he begotten, and there is non equal or comparable to him.

3- Muslims believe in ALL the original scriptures.
4- Muslims believe in ALL Messengers of Allah, without discrimination among them.
5- Muslims believe in the day of Judgment.
6- Muslims believe in destination, whether good or bad.

The Pillars of Islam:
1- Declaration of Faith: There no god but Allah and that Mohammed is his messenger to all humanity.
2- Prayers: we have 5 prayers a-day.
3- Fasting the month of Ramadan.
4- Monetary Charity (Zakat): it is an annual payment of 2.5% of net savings that will be given to the poor.
5- Pilgrimage to Makkah.

How do you denounce Islamic belief?

You may find yourself in the same position as Mahatma Gandhi when he said "I have no problem with your Christianity, it's you Christians I do not like".

In this case you may find that you have a problem with how some people apply Islamic beliefs to further their own ends rather than a problem with the basic tenants of Islam itself.

Among bigotted folks it's easy. You just say "Wow, them Islamics is bd!" They all agree and you go home.

However, to develop an enlightened and intelligent position read all available Islamic material such as the Quran and treatises written by Islamic scholars until you understand the theological basis of Islam. Then read the history of the Middle East and its cultural attributes until you understand that. It might help to cultivate few Muslims as friends, or take a few unbiased world religion courses, to help you understand the difficult point's. All of this should be done with an innate intention to understand, not denounce.

You are now in a position to know a bit about Islam in its context. Your ambition to denounce it may start to fade at this point.

However if you're still bound to denounce, pick a Muslim to demonstrate you deep understanding to. Perhaps one of the folks who helped you understand.

A world of caution, an intelligent person steeped in their own culture and faith will generally know his facts much better than your "crash course" awareness. He will also feel he is right and be willing to convert you by his good example as he disassembles your arguments.

What monotheistic religions was Muhammad familiar with before creating Islam?

I'm no scholar, so I can't say whether or not Prophet Muhammad knew a lot about the monotheistic faiths of his time, or was "familiar" with them.

I can say he was at least aware of the only two monotheistic religions around, Judaism and Christianity, just as Jesus was aware of the only monotheistic religion of his time, Judaism.

Who founded the religion why was Islam significant?

Answer 1

The Muslim answer, expounded above, is 1) God and 2) at the beginning of the Universe. The more historical answer is 1) Mohammed and 2) around AD 610 with his visions, and blooming around 622.

Answer 2

For many Muslims the term "Islam" has two meanings: the Divine Religion of Submission to God's Will (often called Islam with a small "i") and the Institutionalized Belief as Found in Qur'an and Revealed by Mohammed's Prophecy (often called Islam with a capital "I").

islam with a small "i" is a concept that comes out of Islam with a capital "I" (henceforth written as Islam") and projects the Established Religion of Islam back into the period before would have identified as Muslim, as far back as Adam, the supposed progenitor of the human race. The purpose of said belief, in a functional sense, is to gird Islam in the history afforded by the Judeo-Christian prophetic lineage and insure its authenticity. islam also affords the believer in Islam a continuity of tradition which Mohammed only continued and corrected as opposed to having the religion of Islam be an affront or disagreement with other divinely-inspired religions.

Islam, as an Established Religion, was organized and directed by Mohammed, who, according to Islam, received revelations from God in Mecca in the late 6th century. He was supported by several family members like his uncle Ali Ibn Talib and his first wife Khadija to pursue these prophecies. He converted other members to his nascent religion before being expelled from Mecca to Yethrib (now known as Medina) in 622 C.E. When Mohammed became the Chief Hakam or Judge/Administrator of Yethrib, he received many new revelations and began to ask members of his community to memorize these revelations (along with prior ones). These memorizers (in Arabic Hafeths) would eventually be responsible for the creation of one unified Qur'an. By Mohammed's death, he had conquered all of Arabia and converted most of Arabia to his new faith, establishing the grounds for an Islamic Caliphate, which succeeded him.

Muslims give out Eid cards for greeting their friends and family for this happy occasion which is the same as people giving out birthday cards or Christmas cards or Hanukkah cards or Kwanzaa cards or get well cards. The reason is that it's a nice gesture and the cards show that people are remembered.
