Change sparks plugs on a 2000 jaguar s-type 4.0?

This car has the coil-on-plug configuration meaning that each spark plug has its distinct coil. Looking at the engine from the front you will notice the V8 arrangement with two valve covers, one on each side of the cylinder head. On the valve cover is another cover plate which is secured by (6) 7mm screws. Remove those to access the bank of coils/plugs. The coils are secured to the engine with 7mm screws. Remove them. Also unfasten the coils from the wiring harness and gently twist the coils off the plug. Remove the plugs with a 5/8" deep socket and replace. Reassembly is the reverse. When reinstalling coils, make sure you coat the bottoms with dielectric grease to ease removal the next time. Also smear a light coat of no-seize compound on the plug threads to make them easier to remove as well.

Why is lots of water coming out of tailpipe?

If water comes out after the car is totally warmed up, it has a blown head gasket. Most cars spit water on start up due to condensation in the exhaust after you shut the motor off and it sits and cools.

How do you replace a headlight on a 2002 Jaguar S type?

To unhook the wire brace you should press slightly out toward the side wall and then down. It's hard to see so take a flash light and get a good look. Visualize the maneuver and if you have small hands it's not to difficult.

The bulb is relatively easy to replace. There is a wire brace that holds the bulb inside the light assembly. The bulb snaps into a two-prong electrical receptacle. The trick is in resetting the wire brace that holds the bulb in the assembly. Its a tight fit and space is limited. The easiest way to replace the bulb is to take out the whole lamp assembly and replace the bulb then place the whole assembly(both left/right lights). This may even require removing the bumper if you dont have the right tools or very small hands.

How do you fit a replacement headlight bulb on an s type jaguar?

To replace the headlight bulb in an S type Jaguar, you will first have to remove the plastic cover across the top of the assembly. After moving the turn signal bulb assembly out of the way, you then remove the second plastic cover from behind the assembly and replace the bulb from there.

How do you reprogram a transponder key for a jaguar x type?

Dealer device required for programming. No cloning availiable.

----------

2003 X-Type Results are below. Maybe other Jaguar year models require dealer to reprogram.

After changing the batteries on the keys, the remote stopped working. I have two 2003 X-Type Jaguars and the below steps worked and I confirmed it on both my Jagaurs. You have to be fast for step 2.

1. Open the driver side door.

2. Turn the ignition switch to the 'auxiliary' position, then turn the ignition switch to the 'ON' position and back to the 'auxiliary' position four times. *This must be done fairly quickly. If you have done it correctly, you will hear a chime come from the GEM*

3. Turn the ignition switch to 'OFF' position.

4. Remove the key from the ignition.

5. To program the transmitter, press any key within ten seconds. **If it worked, you should hear another chime come from the GEM**

6 . Close the door...YOUR DONE! 7 make sure you do all your transmitters at the same time

Code P1586 on a jaguar s type?

Code P1586 is for the electronic throttle. It's either a faulty throtle body or a wiring problem between the PCM and throttle. You may also want to check the relays in the under hood fuse box. Try tapping on the relays as I have seen problems in the connections at that fuse box causing the no start and that code. If that checks out good then the engine may be flooded from sitting. It may be a fuel pump or crank sensor but you should try the clear flood method. Try holding your foot on the gas and cranking the engine. You may want to install a jumper on the battery as this will draw down the battery fairly quickly. Also take a break after 20 seconds of cranking to cool down the starter. You may have to remove the spark p[lgs to clean or replace them. Once removed spray some WD 40 down into the cylinders to build back compression. To check for fuel pressure you can push down on the shrader valve on the passenger side of the rail under the engine cover while cranking. Just be carefull because if there is pressure fuel will squirt out. You can also try to rent a pressure gauge from your local parts store and hook it up to that valve. To check for spark remove a coil and spark plug. Install the coil to the plug and with the coil plugged in and the spark plug touching the metal throttle housing see if there's spark. Or lastly the timing chains may have broken from damaged tensioner which will also cause the no start. If the engine was running smoothly before this then I do not think it's the problem but it is a possibility.

My scanner is Showing a cylinder 6 misfire in a 2000 4.0 jag s type but firing order shows only 1-4 cylinders on each bank how do I find cylinder 6?

Depending on the manufacturer, the cylinders are numbered to specifically identify each. On an in-line V8, #1 is on either the passenger side or the drivers side, depending on the manufacturer, and recognize that Jags are manufactured in England where they drive on the wrong side of the car. Then, again depending on the manufacturer, cylinders are numbered one of two ways, down the same side as #1 (1 through 4 on that side) then across and down the other side (5 through 8 on the other side). However, some manufacturers number differently with the cylinders on the same side as #1 being all ODD numbered cylinders and the opposite bank being all EVEN numbered cylinders. What I'm saying is, you'll need to get your hands on a reference book. Check your local library, that's often a great resource.
