Jeep Liberty 2002 3.7L V6
Cylinder positions
Overdrive is the most direct transmission gear ration (usually 1:1) which is the highest gear on the liberty's transmission.
The O/D off setting is used primarily during hill climbs at high speeds when more acceleration/towing power is necessary.
Has very bad mileage. You get about 18 miles per gallon at its best.
Engine knock can be caused by several things. Carbon deposits in the engine can effectively raise the compression ratio of the cylinder. When accelerating, the cylinder gets filled with more fuel and air, and the higher compression ratio causes knocking.
Other possible culprits could include spark plugs being too hot or your timing being off.
replace the switch
You can obtain an owner's manual for a 2002 Jeep Liberty through Jeep directly. You can also find manuals for sale ay locations such as eBay.
My 02 liberty check engine light has blinked in the past. It was because my battery needed to be replaced. Count the number of times it blinks and search for that blink pattern online for better information.
Not unless your car has a flextek fuel converter installed on it. www.flextek.com
Got rearended hard. totally ruined the car that hit me. i drove away with no damage but a ruined spare tire. 5 years ago. still driving the liberty.
Always go by the manufacturer's recommendations in the owner's manual. That being said, the manufacturer recommends different weights of oil depending on climate and use. I always use 5w30 because it fits within the temperature range here. You can also use 10w30. Always change your oil filter when you change your oil. The best filter I've found for quality and price is the Motocraft 400s Filter.

Take a test light and begin at the starter. Keep working your way back through the circuit until you find power. You'll need a partner to turn the key each time you test a circuit. By the way, do you have a manual trasmission and is there a starter disconnect built into the clutch? There is also a starter lockout on automatic transmission so you cannot start them in gear. Either of these two could be the culprit.
The 2003 Jeep Liberty was built in multiple engine configurations/options. For those equipped with the 3.7L V6 valve cover gasket removal and replacement is job and intermediate difficulty. The steps required are the unbolting of the cylinder head covers. Once these are removed the old gasket material and sealant remnants can be taken off. Care should be taken to leave a clean metal surface for the new gaskets. Some gaskets are designed to be installed dry why others require sealer. Once the gaskets are laid on the heads, the valve covers and bolts can be reinstalled/re-torqued. The engine should be run to inspect for leaks. The replacement valve cover gasket for this application is Fel-Pro #VS50594R.
Mine failed because I had a bad battery connection and my car had died the night before. I had to drive it for another 70 miles before it passed.
There is a lever beside the gear shift when your moving or stoped you just have to pull it up. If you do it when your moving beshore to let off the gass and not spinning don't hit the brake all the wheels have to be moving at the same speed.
The air inlet temperature sensor on a 2004 Jeep Liberty is located on the intake tube. The intake tube is right in front of the throttle body.
Any degreaser should work. I use Dawn dishwashing liguid straight from the bottle. Rub gently in to clothing with a little water. If there is alot, let soak overnight.
You can also try the white goop hand cleaner. It works wonders. Apply like a pre-reater on stain and wash as normal.
I just did this today on my 2002 Liberty, so I will answer your question while it is fresh in my mind..... My right headlight went out a few days ago, so I have been driving with my brights on so I don't get pulled over for having only one light. I decided that I was going to replace the pair because I knew if I didn't I would be replacing it soon as these are the original headlight bulbs.
First I looked in the owners' manual to determine the headlight bulb (9007). I could see Sylvania on the edge of the bulb when I looked at the back of the headlight. I next shopped online to see prices and options and then went to Pep Boys where I planned to buy it if they were competitive. I decided that I wanted to buy the brighter version so I went with the Ultra version. They were sold out of the Ultra at Pep Boys so I went to Autozone where I found them for less money (a pair for $20).
Replacement was easier than expected and was as follows:
Look under the hood, behind the headlight. Turn the Grey plastic locking device slightly to unlock it from the headlight assembly. Hold the old headlight bulb at the base and wiggle it gently to remove it from the headlight assembly. Pull out on the plastic latch and gently wiggle the light bulb out of the socket. Using a rag or paper towel to prevent touching the new light bulb glass, gently plug it into the socket until the locking latch snaps in place. Holding the base, insert the bulb inside the headlight assembly and lock the Grey plastic locking device. Repeat this process with the other headlight. Turn on the headlights and confirm they are operational on low and high beams and you are finished....... Good Luck.

Get a K&N air filter first of all. Then use better gas and oil (synthetic).
