What were some of John F. Kennedy proposal?
In the two years after he became president, John F. Kennedy faced no more daunting domestic issue than the tension between African Americans demanding equal treatment under the Constitution and segregationists refusing to end the South's system of apartheid. While Kennedy tried to ease the problem with executive actions that expanded black voting, job opportunities and access to public housing, he consistently refused to put a major civil rights bill before Congress.
He believed that a combination of Southern Democrats and conservative Republicans would defeat any such measure and jeopardize the rest of his legislative agenda, which included a large tax cut, federal aid to elementary and secondary education, and medical insurance for the elderly. His restraint, however, did little to appease Southern legislators, who consistently helped block his other reforms.

While I don't wish to malign his memory, a lot of people have made claims that Kennedy was "just about to" do this or that (get us out of Viet Nam, end the Federal Reserve, etc.) but the fact remains that after more than a thousand days in office, all he'd managed to do is avoid nuclear war (every President since Truman has managed that!), lose Cuba, and use the National Guard to force desegregation. Granted, desegregation was needed, but there had to be a better way, without the threat of force.
In 1969, TIME magazine reported that their wealth was estimated to be about $400 Million. Joe Sr. invested heavily in Manhattan real estate and made huge profits. There is some oil money as well and, of course, the heirs have invested similarly as Joe did. By JFK's 45th birthday, he had only been granted access to about 50% of the money in his trust as arranged by Joe Sr. The TIME article is a good read; just keep in mind it was written in 1969. At a conservative interest rate of 7% over 40 years, that $400 million would have grown to $6.52 Billion without adding anything to the principal. Save your money.
