How do you know if your 2001 Kia Optima has anti lock brakes?

With the hood open, standing in front of car looking toward the windshield.... on the left side (passenger side), look for a silver box with 5 thin lines coming out of the top. If that is present, then you have ABS. If there are only 2 lines, you do not.

Or you can look at rear brakes, if you have drum type brakes (can't see a rotor) then you don't have ABS.

Why is the battery light on in your 2001 Kia Optima?

Trufully, my battery just died yesterday, and the battery light did not come on, the only time it comes on is when the alt isn't charging. I've replaced 2 batteries and 4 alts in my 01 optima!! Although it is a battery icon, what it really means 99 times out of 100 is that the battery is not being charged and although it could indicate a battery that is tired and due for renewal (I always get a new one every 3 years; 2 years if it's the original thing the car comes with) it usually indicates a fault with the alternator which has, more than likely, worn out. 2001 might still be under warranty I suppose.

How do you replace the rear struts on a 2000 Toyota Corolla?

In the 8th Generation Corolla, 1998 to 2002, it's a pain. You must remove the back seats, because that is where the bolts that hold the struts are accessed. Then jack up the car and remove rear wheels. You possibly can access the bolts on the struts without taking the wheels off, but it's easier with them off) Please support the car properly for safety Do not use the tire change jack. Unbolt the bottom of the strut, and remove brake line (not from the brakes just unclip it from the strut, it's attached) Go back inside and unbolt the three bolts from the strut and pull up and out from inside the car. Install new struts same way opposite. (note: They are really more of a shock absorber than a MacPherson strut, you will not need a strut compressor for installation)

How do you change a power steering pump on a LEXUS LS 400?

Make sure you need to replace power steering pump before doing it. I have one 91 and one 90 ls400. both has steering fluid leak and I was told one need pump replaced, another need rack and pinion replaced. But I found a good mechanic ( or simply an honest mechanic) He said both cars has the return hose leak. and can be easily replaced with some regular hose at $30-50 part and labor. I got both fixed at $100 total. It saved me over 800 dollars at least.

How do you change a front wheel bearing on a 2001 kia optima?

I could be wrong, but I believe this vehicle uses a pressed in sealed bearing. If so, you remove the spindle from the vehicle, then use an arbor press to separate the hub, bearing and spindle, then to press them back together again.

Assuming that you haven't got such a press handy, just remove the spindle complete with bearing and hub and drop it off along with the new bearing at your local machine shop.

How do you adjust headlight on 2005 Kia Optima?

My wife has a 2006 Kia Optima and it took me a long time to figure this out. I called the dealer, to avoid bringing it in, and they were useless so I just took some time and stared at it and figured it out.

At the back of the headlamp, there is a small bolt (forgot the size, but it's a metric hex) to adjust the vertical alignment. The bolt is just to the inside of the upper (non-high-beam) light; at the back. Wratchet clearance is awkward but do-able.

I did not have to adjust the lateral alignment, but I am sure that bolt is further to the outside. Just in from the nose of the hood, on the top of the headlights, are some stampings to indicate where to look for the adjustments. You should see a set of arrows indicating vertical and another to show lateral.

Good luck!
