How do you set timing on 2005 Kia Optima?

You don't. The timing is not set by rotating the distrubutor, as we used to, as it has no distributor. Timing is fixed by the position of the Crank Position Sensor/Indicator. I imagine it's thereafter shifted by the computer somehow with RPM and so on - just haven't dug that deep into it, so I'm not sure.

How do you change the headlight H7 bulb on the Kia Optima?

that problem with the headlights ic very common on kias a hyundais in the 2000s it is a wiring problem that has to be corrected, change the bulb every six weeek is not the answer they are like 12 bucks a piece My '03 Optima headlights go out about every 6-8 weeks. Changing the bulbs is actually fairly simple.

1. Pop the hood. Behind the headlight, there is a large round knob/cover. Turn this about 1/4 turn counter-clockwise.

2. Gently pull out the cable that is attached to the back of the light bulb.

3. There is a VERY obnoxious metal clipping device that holds the bulb in place. This device is removed by pushing the arm of it straight in (towards the front of your car) and down. This should unhook the clip. It often takes me several minutes and sore fingers to actually get it unhooked.

4. Pull the bulb out.

5. Put the new bulb in. There is a place on the metal frame of the bulb that sticks out, you must line this up with the corresponding space for it on the headlight structure.

6. Reattach the clip - Push it down and towards the front of your car.

7. Reattach cable and knob/cover

VERY IMPORTANT! DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS PORTION OF THE LIGHT BULB! The oil on your fingers gets on the bulb, heats up when the lights are on, and causes the bulb to warp/explode/burn out.

Hope this helps :)

Is Kia Optima a timing chain?

I have a 2001 Kia Optima, it has a timing Belt. It also has an iterference engine.

I was 90 miles over the recommended replacement limit when it blew ruining my engine.

I hadn't heard of a timing belt before so woo was I.

Kia was eventually kind enough to replace my engine which was still under warranty.

I am not sure alot of companies had belts at one time but I believe due to this problem many of them migrated back to a chain. You should probably ask a dealer.

How do you program a keyless entry remote for 03 Kia Sorento?

Steps:

  • Open the hood of your SUV.
  • Behind the battery on the drivers side is a plastic covered connector labeled Diagnostics.
  • Open the plastic cover on the Diagnostics port by pulling up on the edge near the FRONT of the vehicle.
  • Get your prepped/stripped jumper wire and place one end in connector 6 as shown in the pictures.
  • Run the other end of the jumper wire to the POSITIVE terminal on your battery, you can just push it into the little opening on there so it stays in place for a few minutes.
  • Get into your vehicle with your key fobs.
  • Put one key into your ignition and turn to ON position, DO NOT start your vehicle.
  • If you just have ONE key fob to reprogram, when you turn the vehicle to ON, hold the LOCK button down for 3 seconds, the lights on the dash will go off, and you are done. Turn the key off, disconnect the wire, and try the key fob.
  • If you have TWO key fobs to reprogram, turn the key to ON, hold the first LOCK button for 1 second, then the second one for 1 second. Turn the key off after the lights on the dash go off and remove the jumper wire. Test both Key Fobs.

What brand oil should go in a 2011 Kia Optima?

The brand isn't really all that important. What's important are the specifications. Any major brand (Mobil, Pennzoil, Valvoline, Quaker State, etc.) should be fine, as long as it meets or exceeds the SAE criteria (these will probably be marked on the oil fill cap).

I've heard that it's not a good idea to mix brands, e.g. if you filled it with Pennzoil, top it off with Pennzoil. I don't know how true this is, but it makes some sense, since the additives may be different between brands and not mix well.

Where is the fuel pump relay on a 2003 Kia Optima?

Relay switches are typically in the fuse box compartment underneath the hood usually on the driver's side (~not~ the fuse compartment under the dash) You will see a black plastic box. Pull the cover off. On the under side of cover will have a list of what each fuse, micro relay, and mini relay are for. You will see an entry for the fuel pump relay or possibly just "fuel relay". How to test your relay switch. Some of the relays in the fuse compartment will be exactly the same relay. For instance the horn relay can be (not in all cases)the same type of relay for your fuel pump relay. So if you think you have a bad fuel relay switch... change it with the horn relay switch... then honk your horn. Does it work? (Of course make sure your horn works in the first place). If your horn works with the fuel relay switch substitute... your problem is not with your relay. If your horn does not work.. presto... you have a bad relay. If your relay continues to go burn out... you'll need to find out why. Possibly a bad ground.
