It's spelled Camelot. Or it could have been Caerleon, just depends. In Thomas Malory's La Morte d'Arthur (The Death of Arthur) one of the best sources for Arthurian Legend it's called Carlion. Geoffrey of Monmouth, Wace, and Layamon called Camelot Caerleon. Geoffrey gives a very elaborate back story of Caerleon.

It catches the arrow the Wart shoots in Book I, and is later seen sitting atop Morgan le Fay's castle. It is the weather vane atop Morgause's castle.

There are a number of variations concerning Arthur's conception; the most popular is the version whereby Uther is disguised by Merlin's magic to look like Gorlois, and so tricks Gorlois' wife Igraine into sleeping with him. Gorlois is usually killed by Uther and/or his men before/during Arthur's conception.

There are so many things preventing Arthur from coming to peace with Lancelot and that is why there are so many books and movies. I would tend to explore the idea that King Arthur was too proud to admit he had any fault in the matters, and that he could not let the other knights or his subjects see that he was fallible. Also, Lancelot broke the rules, and Arthur needed to be sure not to play favorites so people would question his authority. Those are just a couple of ideas for starters, I'm sure others will have their own ideas to share.

After he finds hospitality at the home of a great lord, Sir.
