How did king david use his gifts and talents to give glory to god?

King David used his gifts and talents in various ways to give glory to God. As a skilled musician and poet, he composed many of the Psalms, expressing deep devotion and worship that continue to inspire faith. His leadership in uniting Israel and establishing Jerusalem as a center of worship reflected his commitment to honoring God. Additionally, his courage in battle and reliance on God's guidance showcased his faith, further glorifying God through his actions and accomplishments.

Was King David from the line of Methuselah?

No. Methuselah was Noah's grandfather who died the same year of the flood, but before the flood came. Since everyone else on Earth descended from Noah, who descended from Methuselah, technically, King David was from the line of Methuselah.

However, the Bible considers all righteous ancestors of the line of King David as beginning with Noah, after the Earth was cleansed by the Flood.

If Methuselah was Noah's grandfather and from the great flood it was only Noah, his wife, and their 3 sons and their families that survived, then yes, David would be from the line of Methuselah.

How many wives and concubines did David have?

He had 700 official wives and 300 concubines.

According to the Bible at I Kings 11:1-7 says And King Sol′o·mon himself loved many foreign wives along with the daughter of Phar′aoh, Mo′ab·ite, Am′mon·ite, E′dom·ite, Si·do′ni·an [and] Hit′tite women, from the nations of whom Jehovah had said to the sons of Israel: "YOU must not go in among them, and they themselves should not come in among YOU; truly they will incline YOUR heart to follow their gods." It was to them that Sol′o·mon clung to love [them]. And he came to have seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines; and his wives gradually inclined his heart". And it came about in the time of Sol′o·mon's growing old that his wives themselves had inclined his heart to follow other gods; and his heart did not prove to be complete with Jehovah his God like the heart of David his father. And Sol′o·mon began going after Ash′to·reth the goddess of the Si·do′ni·ans and after Mil′com the disgusting thing of the Am′mon·ites. And Sol′o·mon began to do what was bad in the eyes of Jehovah, and he did not follow Jehovah fully like David his father.

That is about a thousand women.

What were some accomplishments that King David did?

1) King David authored/compiled the book of Psalms and gave it to us in its present form (Talmud, Bava Batra 14b). The Psalms (Tehillim), which we might call the soul of the Jewish people, express the yearning of King David and of the entire nation to be close to God. They are one of the foundations of our prayerbook to this day.

2) King David was the one who finally succeeded in subduing all of the surrounding nations (see 2 Samuel ch.8 and ch.10) plus the entire territory of Israel, something which no one else did previously or subsequently. He succeeded in all his endeavors (1 Samuel 16:18).

3) He secured from the prophet Nathan a promise from God that his (David's) son Solomon would build the Holy Temple (2 Samuel ch.7). The First Temple is actually considered the accomplishment of David himself (Rashi commentary, Berakhot 18a), since it existed in his merit (Sefer Torat Chaim, commenting on Talmud, Shabbat 30a).

4) He set the blueprints, with Divine inspiration, for the Holy Temple (1 Chronicles 28:19). Together with the prophet Samuel, he located the spot where the Temple would be built (Talmud, Zevachim 54b); and he dug the foundations for the Temple (Talmud, Sukkah 53a).

5) He amassed vast amounts of material and precious metals for the construction of the Temple (1 Chronicles ch.29).

6) Together with Samuel, he instituted the 24 groupings of families of Kohanim and Levites (Talmud, Taanit 27a).

7) He served God all the days of his life (1 Kings 11:38); and God was with him (1 Samuel 16:18).

8) He was without peer in clarifying and applying the halakhot (laws) of the Oral Tradition (Talmud, Sanhedrin 93b).

9) King David serves as the archetype of the effectiveness of repentance (Talmud, Avodah Zarah 4b).

Twice once as a boy and then as a king.

Why is king David and the house of David important?

David (peace be upon him) as per Islam is a great messenger of God from the Israilites (desendants of Israiel namely Jakop). David is mentioned in the scripture of the Muslims (the Quran) in various places such as 38:17-26. David used to have beutiful voice when reciting the Zaboor (revelation from God - maybe the Psalms). Muslims name their children after David and they call him "Dawood" in Arabic. If a Muslim rejects the prophethood of David then the Muslim gets out of the fold of Islam as it's part of the articls of faith in Islam to belive in the authentic prophets before Mohammad such as Noah, Ibrahma, Moses and Jesus (peace be upon them all).

How old is Bathsheba age with affair to king david?

David was born 1061BC and died 971BC. These dates are known and definite dates because:-

(1). The date of the completion of the Temple by Solomon in 974BC has been positively dated and cross-correlated by scholars because it is also mentioned in the records of contemporary civilizations;

(2). It is known that this took 20 years to complete (ie in 967BC):-

1Ki 9:10 And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, when Solomon had built the ...house of the LORD [ie Temple].....

(3). It is known that this was in the fourth year of Solomon's reign ie that he became king in 970BC:-

1Ki 6:1 And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD.

(4). His father David died very soon after Solomon became king (ie 970BC).

(5). According to Josephus, David was 70 when he died, and he ruled from Jerusalem for 33 years, (and also died there) which means he began ruling from Jerusalem in 1003BC.

1Ki 2:11 And the days that David reigned over Israel were forty years: seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem.

(6). David was in Jerusalem when he saw Bathsheba :-

2Sa 11:2-3 KJV And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon. [v. 3] And David sent and enquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?

(7). David committed adultery with Bathsheba but she became pregnant, so he had her husband (Uriah the Hittite) killed, and Nathan the prophet confronted David:-

2Sa 12:9-10 KJV Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon. [v.10] Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.

(8). Nathan told him their child (ie not a baby) would die:-

2Sa 12:14 Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.

(v.18) And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead: for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spake unto him, and he would not hearken unto our voice: how will he then vex himself, if we tell him that the child is dead?

To stress the point, it is said 5 times in two verses that it is a child of at least one year old, and perhaps a toddler but not a baby.

(9). Assuming that this happened just after David began ruling from Jerusalem means the earliest possible date for the birth of the child would be 1001BC .

(10). The latest possible date for the birth of the child would be one or two years before Solomon was born:-

2Sa 12:22, 24 KJV And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live? ... [v.24] And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the LORD loved him.

(11). Solomon's birth date is unknown, and it is not known how old he was when he became king, but the parameters can be made. David told him to behave "like a man", implying he wasn't (he could have still been a teenager):-

1Ki 2:1-2 MKJV And the days of David drew near for him to die. And he charged Solomon his son, saying, [v. 2] I go the way of all the earth. And you be strong and show yourself a man.

(12). Assuming he was only 14 and adding a year for his mother's pregnancy would make the latest possible date for his conception 986BC.

(13). This puts the year of David's marriage to Bathsheba somewhere in the range between 1000BC and 986BC.

Although it depends on assumptions being made, it makes the year of David's marriage to Bathsheba somewhere in the range between 1000BC and 986BC. However, if you made it 990BC it couldn't be far out, and no-body can prove you wrong!

Were David and Jonathan gay?

One opinion:

Quite possibly, but it's more likely that David was bisexual. Back then, there wasn't nearly as much concern about men having sex with men, as long as they had sex with women, too. It's also not clear how old the two of them were when they were "friends". It's not at all unusual for kids in their teen years to "experiment".

Another thought:

There is no Biblical reason to conclude that David and Jonathan were gay. David had more wives than he should have had, and many children. He expressed a love for Jonathan, yet there is no indication that this was anything more than genuine love for another, as one would have for a dear brother. No activities between these men suggest that any homosexual acts were even considered.

Besides the overwhelming testimony of the Psalms in which David continuously praises God's laws, against which homosexuality is a perverse adulterous abomination.

"O how I love Thy law! It is my meditation all the day." (Ps.119:97)

Plus, if they had actively engaged in such practice... God would never have inspired this testimony in His Word: "...I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after Mine own heart, which shall fulfill all My will." (Acts 13:22)

Further addition:

It may be helpful to read the actual Bible verses in which David laments the death of Jonathan: 2 Samuel 1:25-26 (King James Version)
