After much searching of my own, i believe the fuel filter on a Series 2 is a non-serviceable item. The filter is actually part of the fuel pump and therefore should only be changed when the pump needs changing. I would still check with my local LR Dealer though.

I just changed the belt on my 2002.draw a diagram of the belts position.this is a serpentine belt.the far left pully has a bolt on the front use a long ratchet if you turn it clockwise it releases the tensioner pulluy,the belt releases and goes on the same way.I am a girl and fgured this out(not to say there aren't girls out htere who work on cars ) so it's not to tough just very messy.also when running the belt start by putting it around the front of the fan so that you start with one big circle around all the pullys before you start to put the belt in place. hope you could understand this Lisa

How do you fit side steps to a landrover discovery?
First, fit the four brackets with the 13mm and 17mm spanner. The holes are already pre-drilled and threaded. Tighten the brackets to the vehicle but do not fully tighten them. Fit the outer bolts and place the side steps into positions. Push them against the body and adjust them for the best fit, then tighten all the nuts and bolts fully.

Look under brake pedal arm for small plastic thing with a button. They can be adjusted (height) to control depression on said button when you push down on pedal. How do you remove rear wheel from land-rover discovery?
I downloaded the manual for the Discovery II. I have done the brakes on mine and here is wht the manual said:
Brake discs must be renewed in pairs, unless
one disc requires changing before 1000 miles
(1500 km) from new.
Remove
1. Raise rear of vehicle.
WARNING: Do not work on or under a
vehicle supported only by a jack. Always
support the vehicle on safety stands.
2. Remove road wheel(s).
3. Remove 2 bolts securing brake caliper to rear
hub.
4. Release caliper and tie aside clear of brake
disc.
CAUTION: Do not allow caliper to hang on
brake hose.
5. Remove screw securing disc to drive flange.
6. Remove brake disc from drive flange.
Refit
1. Clean mating faces of drive flange and new
disc.
2. Fit brake disc to drive flange, fit screw and
tighten to 13 Nm (10 lbf.ft).
3. Clean mating faces of caliper and hub.
4. Fit caliper and tighten bolts to 95 Nm (70 lbf.ft).
5. Fit road wheel(s) and tighten nuts to 140 Nm
(103 lbf.ft).
6. Remove stand(s) and lower vehicle
Pull the car to a halt and select Park. Turn off the car as normal.
Restart the car and very slowly change the gears one by one until you get to Drive but making sure you feel the car move into each gear you select on the way down. You may have noticed that the car was very sluggish on takeoff when the lights were flashing? The car was stuck in 3rd gear as there is an electrical fault to the transmission. This is usually due to water or something like that. This should work, its just the computer getting confused about which gear its in. If you do it slowly it should be fine.

I had this - took the casing off the gear shift (lifts off) and found a pencil stuck under there - took the pencil out and it stopped

On the Discovery II (most models) Automatic, if the M and S lights are flashing and the Gear selector on the dash refuses to display the gear indicator correctly and the Gear lever lights flash on and off.
Remove Ignition key.Place Friend in car to move auto Gearlever back and forth whilst you climb under to locate the selector unit.When found on side of gearbox mount lead light to see connector just above selector. unclip and slide connector off the holding bracket(Tight fit then bend the bracket up). Unmarry the connector. Spray Q20 or switch cleaner into the male and female ends. Stand the selector side of connector end upright to allow the liquid to run down into the selector. Leave for about 1 hour. Remarry. Carefully Drill a 1mm hole into the closest / lowest part of the selector housing / switch, into the black part. It is like a hard plastic. Untill you feel the drill bit move freely into the housing. Only drill about 4 to 5mm deep. Redrill bigger with a 2 mm bit. Slide the supplied Q20 nozzel hose attachment (thin tube) into the drilled hole. Spray copious amounts of Q20 (switch cleaner) into the selector housing whilst freind moves Gear Lever back and forth. Insert a 5 x 2.5 mm self tapper screw to drilled hole to seal it.
It took mine about 2 hours of driving and has been right (No more Lock up and flashing lights) ever since for some 3 months now.
The so called design engineer who suggested this device must stay away from Land Rover and needs his butt kicked. Think twice about taking your Disco 2 Auto into a river due to this part flooding. I hope he didnt have anything to do with any later models. PS spray all your ABS sensors too. (Below water level) follow the cables from the disks to locate them, another design flaw!

How do you get the front differential plug off 2000 land rover discovery series 2?
The standard removal technique is to tap the bung with a hammer to loosen it and try to remove it with a single hex spanner or socket, if this does not work try to use a screwdriver in the centre at the same time as using the spanner.
It is common for the bung to become stuck if it is done up too tight, if this is the case chisel the bung from the side. The bung will break in half and the tension will be released from the thread and the remainder will unscrew with your hand. If you do this you will obviously need to buy a new bung, I suggest you buy a brass one from a radiator shop.

According to everyone I have talked to (many mechanics), Land Rover has it's own transmission fluid that it requires for its vehicles. And, it is only sold at the dealership. I was told by my Napa Auto parts guy that Amsoil produces a synthetic transmission fluid that will work.

Yes, ish! I fitted a gutter mounted 90 rack to a 200tdi discovery. I had to bend the legs out a little to get it on but it did go on. If its a full length 110 rack though it will be too long, in which case you can sell it to me because I need one! :D
