this is crazy as hell but,the starter is under the intake manifold directly in the center of the motor.so remove intake manifold and then remove and replace starter.not hard ,just time consuming.

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news but to replace the starter you must remove the intake manifold since the starter is underneath the manifold. You had better know what you are doing for this job. I think it costs between $800 and $1500 to get this done. vbd

If I m thinking correctly what you are referring to is the 100A fuse in the engine compartment fuse box next to the battery. You do need to remove the battery to get access to the fuse which attached with nut and bolt on its terminals.
