My same problem:
I have exactly the same problems with my Lexus but this is a early 97 one. the bad idling is not noticed by the EQ I think as there is no engine light burning. I have read on a forum that someone changed the engine mounts and drive shaft trannys to get rid of the vibrations at higher speeds. Is your one vibrating when pulling or braking on the engine at high speeds? In my case it is only vibrating when I am cruising at a constant speed. I checked mine but could nog see anything particularry there. Still I ll try to change them as they cost only $24 on eBay. Try the O2 sensor tutorial on www.lexls.com . And please let me know when you solved the problem as I have the same problems.

I own a 2002 Lexus RX300. The outside brake light bulbs are changed my removing the entire light module from the body. The module is held in place by two screws
hidden by round plastic covers that pop out with a small screw driver. You will see the two round screw covers along the rubber moulding when you open the rear hatch. The outside edge of the module is plugged into the body with plastic prongs
that will pop loose will you pull the module with your hands. The module will now only be attached by the slack bulb wires and you can twist the socket out of the module from the back. I only loosened the two screws and then pulled on the module and it hinged away from the body allowing me two change the bulb without have the module hanging by the wires. NOTE: 2001 RX300 the module is not hinged. There are two plastic prongs on the module that go straight in to rubber grommets on the car. Once the two screws are removed the module must come straight back to remove it and it hangs by the wires

most likely cause is the heater control valve under the hood on the passengers side near the firewall. Look at the control valve and cable for a crusty dry residue leaking from valve onto cable. If there are signs of a leak the fluid tends to travel down the cable causing it to seize. Once this happens the servo bends the cable on the inside of vehicle. It is very easy to replace the valve and cable, but make sure you tape the cables together to help feed the new one through.

How do i remove the high brake lamp cover on a Lexus LS 430 to replace the light bulb?
Assuming the 430 High Brake lamp cover is identical to the LS 400, it is as follows:
The high brake lamp cover is attached by four clips; two in the back of the assembly and two in the front. The front ones need to be released by gently and carefully pulling the cover up; the back ones then act as a hinge to allow the rear of the cover to move up. Then by pulling the cover toward the front of the car, the entire assembly comes loose.
Be advised that the clips are plastic, and they are mounted into the cardboard like rear deck. Therefore, being gentle is important to preserve them. I used two small screwdrivers, inserting them under the left and right sides of the cover, and carefully moving them to gently pry the front of the cover up.
Once the cover is free, there are two bulb housings. Each require a 1/4 turn to open. The bulbs are 921 18W.
Once you have replaced the bulbs, use the front clips to guide the cover back snug with the rear window, and pop down the front.
It is also a good idea to test the bulb before you replace the cover. Just step on the brakes.

Mine is the 2000, LS 400 and it is replaced by gently squeezing and lifting the lamp assembly from the back seat while inside the car. If it has been slightly warped by the sun (as mine was) you may want to use a small screwdriver to "gently" pry it up from the left and right sides.
Just be careful and you can get it to release.
