Flip up that hatch and flip down the back gate. Locate two screws on the side of the light assembly that are covered when the back gate is up. These two screws also secure steel guards that protect the rear light assembly from backing into things. Remove these screws and the light guards. Then remove the one screw on the outside of the light assembly (right by the rear white backup lens. The entire light assembly comes off. Then unscrew the bottom light plug and replace the bulb. The bulb as one possible position, but if forced, could be put back together the wrong way. After installation double check that the light illuminates when the headlights are turned on and that the light is brighter when the brake is pressed. If it is brighter without the brakes pressed, then the bulb is in the wrong way, (simply re-seat the bulb 180 degrees from how it is).
