A treat for a leopard gecko would be a type of feeder that can only be offered monthly due to high fats, or high sugars. Foods with a lot of fats and sugars become addicting to geckos and it becomed very hard to lean them off of any sweet foods. This can consist of different feeders such as: superworms, wax worms, butter worms. These items should only be offered once a month if ever.

How often should you clean an lizards cage?

I am not an expert but I have heard to take your bearded dragon and everything else (plants rocks substrate etc.) out of the tank and get some reptile tank cleaning spray. Spray the tank down than wipe it off. There will be directions on the bottle. I hope this helped a little but! I recommend wiping it with water but take care not to get the sand too wet. To clean the sand of droppings they have special scoopers used for sand similar to a scooper for a cat box but smaller holes. I would not use any chemicals such as Windex since the dragons will drink the spray from the glass and this could kill them. DONT USE SAND!!!

What are the uses of a lizard's tongue?

It depends on the species. Lizards use their tongue for smelling to aid it in finding food. When a lizard flicks its tongue, it is picking up odors. When its tongue returns to its mouth the scent passes by an organ called the Jacobson's organ. Tissues of the Jacobson's organ process the scents thus allowing the lizard to identify the substance or object. Most lizards use their tongue to drink water. Some will use their tongue to lick clean their "lips". The gecko uses its tongue to clean its eyes since it does not have eyelids. The chameleon uses its tongue to catch prey.

What does it mean when a Betta's tail starts to fall off?

This could be one of many reasons, the most frequent culprit would be other fish, for instance gourami and betta come from the same family of fish, more often than not they don't get on also there are other species of fish such as rosy and tiger barbs that are very "nippy" and like to go around the tank nibbling at long flowing fins, i would need more info to properly diagnose but that is my first thought.

If you have a spare small tank i would suggest taking you little fighter out and putting him on his own, they live mainly in mangroves so you could make the spare/new tank/bowl to look like this, if you do then add some melafix to the tank, melafix will encourage the regrowth of fins.

How long have komodo dragons been extict?

After people continued to hunt them over and over again to keep them from killing livestock

Additional Info: After doing research on this species, I still haven't found the date it was added to the Endangered Species List. I did discover that as far back as 1915, The Dutch Colonial Government instituted a set of protection plans for the dragon. I'll continue to look for the date and which list the Komodo Dragon is listed. Also the statement above is correct, even today the villagers still will poison carrion bait to reduce the population, much as ranchers of the American West do to rid the area of coyotes, wolves, or mountain lions. Even since, the Komodo National Park was established in 1980 and the strict anti-poaching, and protection laws were enacted and enforced.

What are the best small lizard pet?

well frankly the only option for keeping a reptile is a bearded dragon originally from austrailia, these curious creatures love to be handled and can be fed dry food in pellet form, they are easy to look after and make great pets. they dont bite and when they are cross they puff up a beard, hence the name, but ask anyone they really are amazing and are easy to look after, love being handled and make a great pet. so i suggest a bearded dragon for a pet.
