Ohio Governor Signs Law Permitting Sunday Liquor Sale?

It has been so for quite some time. I am not sure of the hours permitted. A liquor store by our house in Mason, OH opens at 2 p.m. on Sundays, but I believe the law is that it can be sold after 1 p.m. This would model the ridiculous law that you can't buy wine before 1 p.m. on Sundays, though you can buy beer. However, all the liquor stores close by 6 p.m. so this must be the legal time to end sales of liquor.

What does a city alderman do?

'Alderman' is a word that has fallen into disfavour because it is considered to be sexist. It was often replaced by 'alderperson' but that term was considered cumbersome. 'Councillor' is being used more often today. An alderman/alderperson/councillor is a politician. More specifically, the term describes a municipal politician. This politician is a member of a council that usually includes a mayor and often other positions as well. The person is elected and serves for a certain period of time. The council is the governing body of a municipality, responsible for by-laws, etc. It provides municipal services such as police and fire, roads and sidewalks, water and sewers, etc. The members of council make the decisions about such services, and also make the decisions about how they will be financed, usually by property taxes.

How does a gun suppressor work?

Also called a silencer, these are legal in the US, but regulated by the same agency that handles machineguns. PART of the noise created by a gunshot is the shockwave created by the expanding gasses from the burning gunpowder. A suppressor captures most of the gasses in a system of baffles or chambers, slows and cools them, and releases them gradually. They do not truly silence a gunshot, but they can reduce or suppress much of the sound and muzzle flash.

Do you need a permit to run a stoop sale in Brooklyn NY?

The stoop sale is a Brooklyn tradition. Although the NYPD do occasionally target non-resident vendors who set up tables on the sidewalk to sell merchandise, they will usually not bother someone selling used items in front of the building where the seller himself actually lives, as long as the sidewalk is not blocked and the merchandise is not otherwise illegal to sell (i.e., liquor, cigarettes, drugs, weapons, black-market goods, pirated recordings, prepared food, etc.).
