Lutheran

The Lutheran branch of Christianity was named after one of the earliest Protestants, Martin Luther. His thesis, which asked questions about the beliefs of the Catholic church, was nailed to the cathedral door. What are the requirements for remarriage in a Lutheran church?

Generally you only need to show that your divorce was finalized. There may also be counselling and other marriage preparation sessions as there would be for any couple about to be wed, but this varies depending on the minister.

What does the Lutheran Rose mean?

Here is Luther's explanation: "Grace and peace from the Lord. As you desire to know whether my painted seal, which you sent to me, has hit the mark, I shall answer most amiably and tell you my original thoughts and reason about why my seal is a symbol of my theology. The first should be a black cross in a heart, which retains its natural color, so that I myself would be reminded that faith in the Crucified saves us. 'For one who believes from the heart will be justified' (Rom. 10:10). Although it is indeed a black cross, which mortifies and which should also cause pain, it leaves the heart in its natural color. It does not corrupt nature, that is, it does not kill but keeps alive. 'The just shall live by faith' (Rom. 1:17) but by faith in the crucified. Such a heart should stand in the middle of a white rose, to show that faith gives joy, comfort, and peace. In other words, it places the believer into a white, joyous rose, for this faith does not give peace and joy like the world gives (John 14:27). That is why the rose should be white and not red, for white is the color of the spirits and the angels (cf. Matthew 28:3; John 20:12). Such a rose should stand in a sky-blue field, symbolizing that such joy in spirit and faith is a beginning of the heavenly future joy, which begins already, but is grasped in hope, not yet revealed. And around this field is a golden ring, symbolizing that such blessedness in Heaven lasts forever and has no end. Such blessedness is exquisite, beyond all joy and goods, just as gold is the most valuable, most precious and best metal. This is my compendium theoligae [summary of theology]. I have wanted to show it to you in good friendship, hoping for your appreciation. May Christ, our beloved Lord, be with your spirit until the life hereafter. Amen." *

Why did King Henry VIII need an alliance with German Lutheran kings?

King Henry VIII sought an alliance with German Lutheran kings primarily to strengthen his position against Catholic powers, particularly the Pope and Spain, during the English Reformation. By aligning with Lutheran states, he aimed to secure political and military support while promoting his break from the Catholic Church. This alliance also helped him consolidate his authority and legitimize his religious reforms, as he faced internal dissent and external threats from Catholic nations. Ultimately, the alliance was part of Henry’s broader strategy to ensure England's sovereignty and independence in religious and political matters.

It is acceptable to send a Catholic child to a Lutheran pre-school?

There is nothing wrong in sending a Catholic child to a Lutheran school. The drawback is that the child will not get a proper Catholic education and also the child will be exposed to the Lutheran teachings, which some of them are not according to the Catholic teachings. If you want your child to study in a catholic environment, then sending your child to a Lutheran Pre-school is not a good idea. To answer your question even more clearly I would like to state what the Code of Canon Law of the Catholic Church states in regards to Catholic Education. Can. 793 §1. Parents and those who take their place are bound by the obligation and possess the right of educating their offspring. Catholic parents also have the duty and right of choosing those means and institutions through which they can provide more suitably for the Catholic education of their children, according to local circumstances. §2. Parents also have the right to that assistance, to be furnished by civil society, which they need to secure the Catholic education of their children. Can. 794 §1. The duty and right of educating belongs in a special way to the Church, to which has been divinely entrusted the mission of assisting persons so that they are able to reach the fullness of the Christian life. §2. Pastors of souls have the duty of arranging everything so that all the faithful have a Catholic education. Can. 795 Since true education must strive for complete formation of the human person that looks to his or her final end as well as to the common good of societies, children and youth are to be nurtured in such a way that they are able to develop their physical, moral, and intellectual talents harmoniously, acquire a more perfect sense of responsibility and right use of freedom, and are formed to participate actively in social life. Why did god gave us a new commandment?

I was not aware that God gave us a new commandment. The Commandments in the bible are all we need. They cover everything. If there is a new commandment out there it was thought up by a mere man and he did it for his own good. There are a lot of false prophets out there today. People that say that you have to do certain things to get to heaven. Some say thet you have to go door to door and get people to join their group. Others have to perform certain tasks in order to get to heaven. Others have to raise a certain ammount of money to gain eternal life. Jesus is the only way to heaven! No tricks or gimmicks. No list of things that you have to do. Just believe and accept Him as your savior and you will live eternally in heaven. He will take you as you are. You do not have to clean up your act first as other religions want you to do. If you will let Him into your life, He will do the cleaning. If Jesus had waited for me to straighten up before he loved me I would still be lost. New commandment? Nope sorry. Just Jesus, trust Jesus.

Why did Lutheran ideas appeal in Germany so much?

Lutheran ideas had a big impact in Europe in general because many believed that the catholic church had surrended its ideals and become too greedy and corrupted. Its practice of handing out indulgences for money and sales of everything from pictures of saint to allegedly holy relics. I say allegedly because at one time there were 15 apostles buried in Spain alone, confirmed by the catholic church. Another reason was that the kings of Europe wanted more power, and the Lutheran way was one where the worldly kings would control the worldly powers, and the church would stick to religion and morals.

Why are Lutheran church doors painted red?

As a reminder you enter the church through the blood of Christ.

Does the ku klux klan target Lutherans?

Sometimes, but they were mostly Prussians and some Germans.

Does Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod believe in closed or open communion?

The Wisconsin Efvangelical LUtheran Synod believes in closed communion. Scrippture teaches that those who take the Lord's body and the Lord's blood unworthily eat and drink judgment (damnation) to themselves because they do not discern the Lord's body and His blood until He comes again.

Only those who believe that Christ's body and blood are given into death for them for the total and absolute forgiveness of sins are worthy to receive them.

There are those who believe that one's own good works must also come into consideration as to whether or not forgiveness is given to them, and that is not what the Bible teaches.

To protect the immortal souls of those who do not believe that it is only the Lord's death, without any works or merit on our side, is why WELS practices closed communion. It is to protect the souls of those who do not yet know the full truth that we are saved by the Lord's Grace alone, without the deeds of the law, that only true believers are worthy.

How many doctrines are found in the Apostles' Creed and what are they?

12 ArticlesThe English version in the Catechism of the Catholic Church maintains the traditional division of the Creed into twelve articles, presenting it as follows:
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

The question was how many Doctrines are found in the Apostles creed?
The answer to that question is one, mans doctrine as our Father nor Christ penned the Apostles creed. Its a creed penned completely by men at the council of Nicaea.

Focus instead on what is written in that biblical text and not the creeds of men. Chanting creeds will not get you to the understanding point needed in order to understand our Fathers word. If you read and study our Fathers word then he is fully aware that you attest to and believe in him and Christ and there is no need of such nonsense as this Apostles creed.

I used to be Episcopalian and I use to chant this same nonsense on Sunday morning. But I was missing something, I felt that something huge was being left out, something very important. Then, I started learning biblical text from a good bible teacher and my faith grew unmeasurably greater than it was when I was simply changing on Sundays. I discovered the rich heritage of our people and the purpose of our Fathers plan. Things changed as did my opinions and view of this earth age. Now I can't attend those Sunday chant services any longer, its no wonder people sleep there.

The apostles creed is a chanted testament to Christianity from the days gone by when belief in Christianity was forced upon men. People could not serve among the many Christian kingdoms of the middle ages if one did not attest one's faith and allegiance to Christ via some creed or open forced testament. Christ taught us to test the fruit of the tree. Simply attesting some creed out loud or chanting it to music does not mean you believe in what it states. Ones works are the testament to their faith in Christ not ones chanting of a creed.

The beauty of being Christian is that it can not be forced upon anyone, everyone is free to choose. That freedom of choice is the very purpose of being human in this specific earth age. It is what this earth age was designed specifically for. Each of us has the free will to choose in these United States. Forcing alignment to Christianity with a creed is wrong. Each of us must be free to choose of our own free will and that freedom must always remain. That light of freedom is being extinguish from every quarter of the world and replaced by mans forced doctrines such as the doctrine of Mohammed or the largest forced doctrine in the entire world, the doctrine of Greek (specifically the Stoic) philos-sophos. This is the doctrine the Apostle Paul warned of in Colossians chapter 2. The believers in Stoic philos-sophos doctrine, who are commonly referred to as Marxists or communists or socialists or progressives, took the word of our Father and spun it into a lie, using their doctrine (Stoic philos-sophos), just as Paul warned they would, that abomination is referred to as Liberation Theology.

In summary, the answer to the question is this: There is but one doctrine in the Apostles Creed, its the doctrine of men. Men who were attempting to do something they thought was good and honorable but something that is not of Christ or our Father. Men don't need creeds and chants we need good bible teachers who will teach the children of our Father his word straight up, without the influence of mens doctrines. We need teachers of the house of Israel who can teach all of our Fathers children the truth which resides in his word. The creeds of men are of little importance and can serve to drive people away from our Father.

What medieval countries were Lutheran?

During the Reformation, several medieval countries adopted Lutheranism as a dominant faith, notably Germany, where Martin Luther initiated the movement. Other regions include Scandinavia, particularly Sweden, Denmark, and Norway, which embraced Lutheranism as the state religion. Additionally, parts of Switzerland and the Baltic states, like Estonia and Latvia, also saw significant Lutheran influence. These countries reformed their churches and practices in alignment with Luther's teachings, marking a significant shift from Catholicism.

Is Lutheran a cult?

NO. It is a Christian Protestant religion based on the teachings of Martin Luther who broke with the Catholic church.

What is the difference between Lutheran and Pentecostal?

A fundamental difference between the two Christian groups is that, in the Pentecostal churches, there appears to be a requirement of the visible manifestation of the Holy Spirit, often by "speaking in tongues", or prophesying. The Lutheran church holds to no such need for visible evidence. The Holy Spirit becomes part of a person when that person affirms his/her belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, and this affirmation is sealed by Water and the Word, i.e. Baptism. Essentially, Pentecostal churches tend to emphasise the importance of personal and spiritual experiences while the lutheran church emphasises grasping the truths of the Bible, and the promises held within, as the founation of christianity. These truths remain true and valid regardless of our personal feelings and/or experiences.

What traditions do the Lutheran Church practice?

The Lutheran church practices many different traditions, most of which are based in catholicism as Martin Luther did not aim to separate from the Catholic church. He wanted only to reform it, but obviously that didn't happen. Some traditions are a liturgical service (one that always follows the same format) which can be observed when you go to churches across the country. I went to a church 600 miles away and knew exactly what was going to happen. Infant baptism is also practiced in the Lutheran church. Another is communion, with bread (the body of Christ) and wine (the blood of Christ) Lent, Ash Wednesday, and other religious holidays are also observed.

Other than that, there aren't many. There is no practiced confession (although it's always an option) or anything like that.

What do you do when you have board members in your church and they don't act right with pastor or the church?

What you do mean by 'Not act right'? If they are doing something that you don't agree with then maybe it might be a good idea to confront them about it. It depends what it is. Otherwise you could always ask God for some assistance. First, you need to be sure that you can justify your own position from a Biblical point of view. Also, you have to be able to demonstrate in the same way that they are wrong.Approaching them privately would be the next step, and then with other witnesses, after the pattern of Matthew 18:15-20.But usually, each church has it's own procedures in place to deal with these situations.A spirit of humility in all such dealings give the best outcomes.Work to truly RESOLVE the situation, rather than to show someone up or score points.
