What is the daily life like in MIT?

There is quite a bit of work. The problem sets are usually designed to make you think, so looking up formulas in the book blindly is not helpful.

You usually have a few hours of lecture a day. How you fill the rest is up to you. There are many sports/clubs/things to do, it varies.

The UROP program is great in that it allows undergrads to very easily get research positions at amazing labs, and get paid for it.

Occasionally you get to sleep.

The bottom line is that MIT gives you no shortage of rope to hang yourself with - you have many options in how to occupy your time.

I certainly do not know the history of the MIT mascot, the beaver. But it is a most appropriate mascot for a great engineering school, because after man, the beaver, by building dams, has had the greatest impact on the environment.

What is the mininum GPA to get into MIT masters program?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The average GPA of MIT students is roughly 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. MIT doesn't release grade statistics about its students (no class rank, etc.) so I don't think more accurate information is available.

* MIT is very interested in diversity and humanity and accepts students from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds. Minimum requirements for admission are a small step towards acceptance but include standardized tests and leadership experience. Some majors even require a portfolio (Media arts for example)

To gain admission to MIT , In 2008 scores adveraged between 670 and 770 for Critical Reading and 730-800 for Math. One is required to submit either SAT or ACT scores but there is no minimum score for entrance.

Further, either TOEFL exams or IELTS are required (for students that speak English as a second language)

MIT is a collage in Massachusetts that is not private but is mostly for technology. Its mascot is named Tim and is a beaver. Some people think that MIT's sport is football but MIT's sport is Hockey. MIT is also called the Engineers. Even though Hockey is MIT's sport, they still play at other sports to. For example, MIT also has a Football team but Tim the beaver does not always show up. MIT's normal cheer goes like this "I am a beaver, your a beaver, and we are beavers all, and when we get together we do the beaver call to the U to the UDX E to the XDX, cosine tangent side 3.14159, identical, radical MUDV slapstick slide-roll MIT, GO TECH!

Will a 1910 SAT score get you into MIT?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There is no minimum score. They use a holistic process and evaluate your entire application.

however, the 25-75 percentiles for each section are as follows:

Reading: 680-770

Math: 750-800

Writing: 680-780

These are some pretty high numbers, so obviously higher scores yield better results. However, even a 2400 will not ensure admission. The acceptance rate is 10.1%, and many applicants with 2300+ SATs get rejected each year. MIT wants more than just numbers; they want actual people that will contribute to the school's community and beyond.

Disadvantages of using technology?

One disadvantage to a computer is that it doesn't always catch grammatical errors that you might have. It is always best to go over what you have written with your own eyes. Another disadvantage to computers is spam that you are not aware of until it crashes on you.
