The French changed the name to Ile de France (Island of France in french) but when the British gained control, they changed it back to the Dutch name and anglicized it to Mauritius. The island kept the name after independence, which is rare, and it is the same name today.

hmmm... well sega dancing definitely, but it depends on the various social groups that occupy mauritius. The creole mauritians will have different cultural habits to the sino maurtians and indo mauritians. To say "everything the Indians do" is a bit inaccurate. I assume this question is aimed at the Creole Mauritians in which case the have a different religion, language, cuisine and essentially culture to the indo mauritians. For example, the Sega is a trait of the Mauritian People, it does not originate in India.
