The power steering on the RX-8 is electric, the rack itself is in the normal place, then there is a torque sensor where the steering column enters the rack and the ECU for it is located under the main car ECU.

There is a common fault where the coolant overflow dribbles over the connector to the rack and causes corrosion, this should be the first point of investigation if there is an issue.

i have 20'' on mine, but unless you have new shocks, your going to need to place lifters. because I cant sit anyone in the back. because the tire rubs... so go with 19'' if you use 20'' you won be able to have any pasengers like me.

That question has far too many answers. There are four spark plugs. They are designated as "lead" or "trailing". This requires two different kinds of plugs. (I use NGK Iridium plugs). Each plug has its own ignition coil. The spark plug wires, the coils and the plugs are the place to start. The wiring connectors to the coils become brittle and are prone to breakage when removed carelessly. Never pull directly on the wires! Try cleaning the connectors with carburetor cleaner spray and a soft brush or cloth before carefully disconnecting the coils. The engine is prone to flooding, and a wet plug will not fire. The ECU (computer) is something else to consider, as is making sure that the crankshaft sensor on the drivers side of the engine by the crankshaft pulley is clean and the wires are intact, as this is where the firing signals originate. There is alot of good information to be found in researching Mazda RX8 sites, there is also alot of bunk. Pony up the dough to buy yourself a Clymer's or Chilton's manual and use common sense. Designed by engineers, assembled by idiots. Take your time, do your homework. Vice-Grip pliers, a big flathead screwdriver and a hammer are seldom the proper tools for repairing today's automobiles.

Turn the key to the ACC position.

Fully depress the gas pedal.

Crank the engine for 10 seconds with gas pedal still depressed.

IF IT STARTS LET OFF THE GAS

If not, turn the key to the OFF position.

Try and start your car.

If that doesn't work than you need to take your car in to a Mazda dealership.

The RX8 engine should not be turned off without the car having reached it's operating temperature. Meaning, no starting the car and moving it a short distance and then turning it off, as you would with any traditional engine. In your owner's manual, check section 7, page 20, where it explains how to start a flooded engine. The rotary engine starts 'fuel rich' which leaves excess fuel until or unless the engine is warm. Mazda recommends not shutting the car off until the temperature gauge is near the middle between H and C. If you must, it's recommended (and in the manual as well) that you hold the car above 3000 RPMs for 10 full seconds, and then shut if off (while still at 3000RPMs). This means the ECU will flush the fuel versus returning to idle where it will again be 'fuel rich'. To start a flooded engine, you hold the gas completely to the floor, and start the car for no more than 10 seconds. This will cut off any fuel during this start. Then, assuming it doesn't start at that time, you start again for 10 seconds without depressing the gas pedal all the way. Then again depressed, then again without. As an owner of a 1993 RX7 R1 and a 2004 RX8 Grand Touring, it has always taken me nearly 30 minutes of this and has also almost always required a jump from another battery. The process drains the battery very quickly and depending on how long the process takes you, it's likely that the battery will be dead before the car starts.

change it just like any other tire, you may have to wiggle it to get it to fit over the hub, because it a very tight fit, i had to change mine today.... the other option is to have it towed and get someone else to do it!!
