Why would your menstrual cycle get longer?
It could mean a few things. As always you should consult your OB on this issue. However, I know of a few things that can alter your cycle.
1. Changes in sexual activity can affect your cycle.
2. If you recently started birth control pills, or you recently switched them, this could also be the cause. Your body is adjusting to the hormones.
3. Your hormones will be changing throughout your life, and especially will fluctuate with certain big events and stresses...like a wedding, honeymoon, moving, children, buying a house, getting a degree, losing someone close to you, money problmes....etc....
While your doctor and some uninformed people may tell you your cycle should be 28 days, every woman is different. Some have "normal" 23 day cycles, some have "normal" 35-day cycles. The real cause for concern should not be longer or shorter cycles, but whether you have other signs of problems. Are you ovulating? Do you get good cervical mucus mid-way through your cycle? Do you have severe cramps? Do you have super long periods or mid-cycle spotting? If you have other signs something is wrong, or are trying unsuccessfully to get pregnant, see your doctor. Otherwise, wait a few cycles and see if it evens out. Body imbalances (poor health, being overweight, smoking or drinking) can wreak havoc on your cycle as well.
Can you go on a sauna bath even if you have a menstrual period?
No. In Finland and my friends here in Sweden use the sauna every day. It does not affect your hormones.
Yes it is possible; if you're not sure, get down to a local clinic, its FREE. You may need to make an appointment first. I was 3 months before I went, so you better get in now.
Is it normal to have a 14-day menstrual cycle when it is normally a 28-day or 30-day cycle?
No! See a doctor immediately. I would love to know the verdict after you saw your doctor because I too had a 14 day cycle and was later diagnosed with a tumour on my pituitary gland called a prolactinoma. However I feel I still have something else because symptoms of a prolactinoma are light periods or lack of them altogether.........
Do you need a tampon to go swimming?
no you do not need a tampon to go swimming. When you are in the water you stop bleeding, but when you get out make sure to put a pad/tampon on right away. hope this helped!!!
--
During your period you should definately wear a tampon while swimming. The blood might not be that visible when you're in the water but it's still coming out. Plus if you got out of the water and you weren't wearing a tampon it would get all over the floor x D. I'm a competitive swimmer ^ _ ^;
If it's your first time don't worry, only the bottom gets wet with water and the blood is absorbed by the top. A tiny bit might come through but not enough to see. The cotton string is strong enough to easily withstand water.
******
YES!!! dont listen to the first answer you should always use one when swimming. Blood will still come out and when u get out you'll be embarrased.

What happens if you start your period 1 week early?
Nothing happens if you start your period a week early. Menstrual cycles can be different from one cycle to the next, up to a weeks variation is fairly standard. All this means is that your last cycle was a wee shorter than normal, either you ovulated sooner or your luteal phase was shorter.
Once the certain age is reached, the female's body is matured enough to have her eggs fertilized. Each month, her body thinks that she is going to get pregnant. Once the egg(s) that has been distributed has not been fertilized around 25-28 days, her body flushes out all the blood and cushioning her body was preparing for the baby. This is the discharge females have called periods.
How many pads should you go through in one day?
Pads should be changed at least every 4-6 hours - so you're looking at 4 pads minimum. It depends on how heavy your flow is, what absorbency you're using, and other facts such as if you need to change a pad early like if you go in the shower. Everyone is different, some women will use far more than 4 pads per day, but again this is the minimum needed for basic hygiene.
If you know for sure that you are pregnant, it is probably not going to be your period, although some women have experienced a "first" period then learns a couple of weeks later that they really are pregnant. It is possible that it could be implantation bleeding caused by the fertilized egg to attach itself to the uterine wall. Or it could be a cervical change that can cause vaginal bleeding. Vaginal bleeding can also be a symptom of ectopic (tubal) pregnancy. Another cause for bleeding during pregnancy is a miscarriage although the first two reasons for bleeding are more common, it is still a good idea to contact your doctor as soon as you can.
What would cause brown spotting 3 weeks after your period?
You first have to know that every girl/woman is unique in her own way and may have many traits that her friends, relatives, etc do not. It can be normal for some women to spot at anytime throughout their menstrual cycle. Some women have been known to spot throughout an entire pregnancy. If you feel something is unusual or you have a concern, it would be best to visit your doctor to find out for sure. However, it can be completely normal to experience random spotting and is in no way an indication of anything being "wrong" with you.
Is it bad to eat egg while on your period and why?
NOTHING you eat or don't eat has ANY affect of your period unless you feel there is one particular thing that does affect it, but there are not specific foods you shouldn't eat!

Why is there only blood on one side of the tampon?
Thelikelihoodis that the tampon is going to the side of the cervix, so as the blood leaves the cervix it is only hitting the one side of the tampon - try different types of tampons, or better still consider softcups or menstrual cups.
What does the hormone progesterone do?
Progesterone is a steroid hormone that prepares a woman's uterus for pregnancy and maintains the pregnancy if one occurs. It also performs other minor functions such as increasing thyroid function and libido.
Yes, it is normal. While using BCPs, the hormones override your own hormones which suppresses ovulation and lightens periods. When you stop in the middle of a packet your cycle is thrown off and your body is confused about the abrupt changes. The bleeding is your body resetting itself.
It is always best to stop the pill at the end of a packet, not in the mid cycle if at all possible.
Yes, men can contract Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS).
TSS occurs when bacteria are allowed to multiply near an open wound, certain bacteria then produce toxins that enter the bloodstream and if a person lacks immunity it results in something similar to septic shock. Any sort of wound such as scaring post-surgery or a burn could result in TSS, thus men can contract TSS as well as women.

Is it normal to have 2 periods in the same month with PCOS?
If you are on the pill, you should call your doctor about it. You may need to get on a different kind. If you missed or were late taking the pill, that could be why also. If it just happened this month and you aren't on the pill it's probably just a weird thing. If it happens a lot, you should talk to your doctor. You should only be having one period a month.
What does it mean when chunks of blood come out your vagina when your on you period?
That either is from a weak pelvic floor muscle, or estrogen dominance, sometimes even endometrioses. If you have that with every single period you have and the clots are quite large, you should probably see your doctor.
How many days is a normal period?
Young women from the time they go into puberty (10 - 12 they can start their periods) up to 16 they can miss several months of their periods. For young women older to adult women then they may well miss a period and start the next month. If you are over 16 and you have missed several periods it's time to see your doctor to be sure all is well. The birth control pill/patch can also cause you to miss a few periods. This is something your doctor should have warned you about. Perimenopause (can happen from 35 years or up) where your body is getting ready to go into menopause (can last a few years) may cause you to miss periods and some women may not have them for 2 - 3 months or even 6 months. Again it's important to see your doctor. When menopause occurs then the periods cease. Stress can also delay periods or make them erratic.
What does it mean for a girl to have brown discharge before her period?
Brown discharge is known as spotting, it's caused when there is light bleeding which mixes with discharge and because the bleeding is so light it takes time to leave the vagina so thus becomes brown in colour. This can be a sign you're starting your period, but it can also happen due to hormonal imbalance while your body readies itself to start ovulating (and in turn start menstruating).
Is it safe to take the placebo pills a week early to get this period earlier?
That would mean stopping your pills a week early, no that is not a good idea, you could ovulate and get pregnant.
You would be better off skipping the placebo pills and going straight to the new pack, the day you should start the placebo - so you don't have breakthrough bleeding that month. (skip your period completely that cycle.)
