Mermaids aren't real so the person who made them up gave them tails.

It's combining the Old English words mere (sea) and maid (a girl or young woman), since thy are girls/women who live in the sea.

well as Greek mythology Poseidon was god of sea, horses, and earhquakes (sometimes). no one knows if it was true yes or no, but there is 99.9% that he was a merman

You can't turn into a mermaid. Nothing will change you it is not physically possible. Think about it how could a person be part fish and part human and still live? They can't. Mermaids are not real and are only in myth. Get a costume if you want to be a mermaid.

They are called merfolk or mermaids or merman and get a spell that you can believe that can work for you even I'm still trying to be a mermaid I did lots of spells even some I had to hide from my parents i'm 13 but that doesn't matter just find the perfect spell for yourself.

No mermaids are NOT real . people make up these photos . its like come on how are mermaids real ? why would god make mermaids . some people need to deal with the fact that mere maids arnt ' real . my uncle is a scientist and when i was little i used to ask him all type of mythds and creatures , and the truth is theres no such thing. and maybe people are studying about it , maybe some people think just because people study things think their real ? nope ! out of my whole life i never saw a mere maid and i grew up on a beach . so trust me theirs no such thing as mermaids . thanks :] and listen to my advice .

Actually, the only reason WHY people thought mermaids existed because someone saw a manatee under the water and claimed that he saw a mermaid. When the manatee was caught, the man said "That's the thing I saw" and then a scientist said it was a manatee. The guy was put in a mental hospital and he stayed in it until he was 90. Now, when people think of the massive creature, they think of the man. Scientists gave the manatee two nicknames. They are "The mermaid people never see" and "The sea cow". The second one makes sense. I will let you figure out why they are known as "The sea cow" on your own. I can't tell you EVERYTHING about the history of the mermaid.

I hate to disapoint you but there is no scieentific basis behind the idea that a person can in fact turn into a mermaid under any circumstance.

Mermaids do not exist in the real world. They only exist in TV shows, books, movies and games. A thing that is half human and half fish couldn't live and would die as soon as it was made/created. It is all make believe.
