Mermaids are mythical creatures that are half-human and half fish. They do not exist in real life, therefore they do not talk.

In books and films, however, mermaids usually are able to speak. They also often sing beautifully.

Mermaids do not exist, so they don't have any predators. In some stories the author may have sharks prey on mermaids.

Since mermaids do not exist the scales they have are decided by the person who writes the story or the artist who makes one. In movies and TV this is decided by the costume department.

The stories about mermaids comes from the ancient Celts and they were not called mermaids but silkies. The myth goes that the silkies ( really a seal) comes ashore one night a year under a full moon and sheds their skins. If a human finds the skin and keeps it the silkies can not return to the sea but stays human. There is one story about a man who fell in love with a silkies and when she came ashore he took her skin, hid it, and married her. They were married many years and had several children when she looked under the bed to find a wooden box. Inside the box was her skin so she put it on and went back to the sea. Every so often she watches her "husband" and children on shore and sheds a tear.

No one is a real mermaid. There are people who think they are, but since mermaids are not real they can't be one. People can not change into a mermaid or other shapes (think how messy that would be). So, no one is a mermaid except for those who are actors or the ones who pretend they are.

They live for three hundred years. If they are full mermaids. When there three hundreth year is up, they turn to sea foam. Some mermaids die because of ships, pirates, getting dried up, ect, ect. Hope I helped!

From what I heard in Fairy Tales that's correct, but in real life. people have sighted mermaids off in some other country and said that she had scales covering her whole body long flowing hair, human torso and razor sharp teeth. so in real life we have no idea but by her apperance i would say shes evil.

None. Mermaids were just made-up stories from old-time sailors who were needy of seeing a woman after months at sea. They probably were seeing long bits of seaweed that might have looked similar to a woman, same as you and I can 'see' faces and things in the clouds that aren't really there.

You are not a mermaid. This is the truth and you can never be a mermaid. They do not exist and humans can not become mermaids. Mermaids are only in games, books, and movies. They are not real, have never been real, and will never be real.

Overactive imagination and sailors on long voyages - perhaps coupled with wishful thinking. I have heard that the manatee might be the source of the legends in the Caribbean, but you'd really have to be hallucinating or blind drunk to mistake one of these things for a beautiful woman with a tail.

Mermaids don't really exist. Mermaid lifestyle depends on what fiction universe they are depicted in and what the author wants.

Mermaids sent what Fairy Tales say there not beautiful. They all look the same old dried and nasty. But fir them to become beautiful and young forever they take the face of the woman they see.

Sirens and mermaids are the same things but, sirens are just mermaids who have gone over to the dark side, so to speak. Mermaids are very beautiful, gifted and powerful, but since they are mortal and more human than not, as these qualities can create a a terrible human it can also ruin a mermaid. There are also some mermaids that just choose this lifestyle. It is a lot more complex of course but that basically answers your question.

Originally Sirens didn't have anything to do with the sea. The were birds with women's faces that dwelt in the interior of islands and had beautiful voices. They were involved in trying to lure Odysseus and his men from their ship which is probably where the connection to the sea first started. Later (some disreputable) Mermaids tried the same tactic with sailors and ships and because of the similarity of 'what they were doing' to the sirens the association was further made. "Those mermaids are sirens - trying to lure us to our death." Now-a-days the term is applied to mermaids all the time however they remain separate and distinct creatures.

You would be stared at if you were half-fish, wouldn't you be? That's one reason why mermaids don't show themselves. Also, there might be some "ancient mermaid laws" that forbid showing themselves to humans.

Mermaids are not actual creatures, so nobody knows. However, fish all have different numbers of scales, so if mermaids did exist, each one would have a different number of scales just like people have different numbers of hairs and skin cells.

It was the intention of the original Starbucks founders to use the mermaid/siren to represent the seduction of the sea going mariners. In continuing with the metaphor, they were simply replacing the sirens seductive songs with the their tasty irresistible berverages. It is based off Moby Dick and the character Starbuck who was a sailor who loved coffee. And sirens were seductive to sailors they would jump out of boats once they heard the sirens' songs. So it basically means that it is irrestible.

Unicorns like to play in the rainbow and eat skittles all day, that's what makes their coat shine. They also like to make fun of the leprecons and hide the golden coins that are often found at the end of the rainbow. They often play with their cousins, the narwhales and try to breed lamacorns. Lamacorns are the dumbest animals and the unicorns tend to harass them.

Magic spells are not real and are only in books and movies. Mermen are not real and are only in stories, games, books, TV shows, and movies. There is no way for a human to change shape or become something else ( think how messy that would be). It is all make belive. If you want to pretend to be a merman get a costume at a store.
