Not only is it SAFE....But I would RECOMMEND it!!! most addicts alike(me included) develop such strong habits of eating junk food, sitting around not doing anything. That even when you get on methadone, you gotta change EVERYTHING, I still go to the clinic 3 years later and I've realized the majority that get off and relapsed don't change any habits, they continue to sit around and eat bad and just don't do anything. While I'm sure the methadone has SOME contribution to that, I really do believe it is mostly up to you. However, the question is; is it safe....It's not only safe, it's recommended; in my unprofessional but experienced opinion.

Yes it is. Methadone is often sold to people other than the user. So it is 100% necessary to include methadone on the list of drugs they test for to make sure that you are taking it. Giving methadone to somebody else can easily kill them. Your dose is designed for you, what is OK for you could kill somebody else. And if that should happen, you would be charged. You would be responsible for that. I am on methadone and they test us for it. METHADONE IS AUTOMATICALLY TESTED AT METHADONE CLINICS ALONG WITH OPIATES, BENZODIAZEPAM, COCAINE, ECT.

Um, not end of conversation!...Methadone is NOT Meth. Completely different thing. I think it would depend on how heavy a user the person is? Methadone is a very addictive drug so if it's being used on a daily basis your significant other is probably addicted and will need help to detox. Being in a long-distance relationship with the person, unless you KNOW they are willing and desirous to get off the drug, is probably a just cause for heartache. If it is only being used occasionally, say once or twice a week at most, then there probably isn't anything to worry about.

um id like to add if he or she is taking methadone for chronic pain then I wouldn't worry anything about the methadone but you should worry about if you can handle taking care of someone that has chronic pain as I have fibromyalgia and its horrible without my methadone I wouldn't be able to even get out of bed I do not get a buzz off of it and never have I have been on it for over 6+ months and have been on tons of other prescription drugs to help with my pain so it all depends on why this person is taking the methadone if its for fun then I wouldn't waste my time with them but of course that's just imho.

It can, but 20mg is just not enough methadone to be any danger especially if she has been taking it for a prolonged period. There is no "normal dose" for a "female on methadone for two years" It depends on the person, and the amount drugs they used prior to taking methadone. I am currently a patient at a methadone clinic, and when I first started I would ask myself "am I taking a normal amount, but my counselor told me not to worry about the # of mg's I am on, but to focus on my recovery. Only you can truly know if the dose you are on is working for you. I can tell you before I started methadone, I was taking Tramadol (which is not very common for methadone patients) sometimes I would take 20 pills a day. sometimes I would take percocet, vicodin, whatever. Not if it doesn't specifically say so on the label, and I know of know such thing as soluble morphine. If someone has real difficulty in swallowing morphine in tablet form, there are other alternatives like Oramorph (A liquid version of Morphine and very popular alternative) or various patches if it's a chronic ailment. Obviously speaking to your GP would be the best advice as they would be able to put any problems right in one quick visit.

Not exactly. The narcotic in Percocet (oxycodone) is metabolized into morphine by the liver. Percocet contains no morphine.

It probably has to do with your body chemistry. Whatever fillers that were in the other pills you were taking werent agreeing with you, but the chemical make-up in Methadone just agrees with you.

If you've only been taking it for 2 months you can probably go cold turkey safely, but I would contact a doctor or your pharmacist first since I don't know your health situation or what other medications you are using.

Lots of option for breakthrough pain. Methadone is used as a long acting time released narcotic. Pain management clinics will depending on the the patient and the condition often offer a shorter acting pain relief narcotic for break through. Examples could include, norco, vicodin, Oxycontin, dilaudid, morphine in various strengths depending on the dosage of methadone and how many tabs a day are being taken. Also depending on the dosage of Methadone the strength may be increased or shorther period between doses could be an option. All depends on how long a person has be taking Methadone and what the break through pain level are on a scale of 1-10. Hope this helps. I feel your pain.

I have been taking Ritalin for years and I just recently started taking mathadone along with it. I'm not sure if it is medically okay to take the two together but I researched it before I took them and didn't see anything that said it would kill me so I went for it. It seems to be working pretty great! i take the Ritalin in the morning to get up and get going, then in the afternoon I take the methadones to calm down. For me, the mix is working wonders. I have found in my own personal use of 80 mg Methadone/day (Entire right side back pain) and 10mgx3/day of Ritalin, the use of Ritalin has significantly decreased the duration and total effectiveness of the Methadone - causing me to experience more peaks/valleys, minor withdrawl simptoms and has ultimately led to me making the choice between the Ritalin or an increase of my Methadone, which I am not willing to do. I suggest a trial basis (2 week) to see 1) what dose of Ritalin needed and 2) If another, perhaps non-stimulant, ADHD medication might be a better fit. Hope this helps.

No, each requires its own specific test. Methadone will only show up as methadone and suboxone will only show up as suboxone.

i can't speak for all over he u.s. but here in Florida they go for about $10.00 the same as an oxycodone 30mg. but morphine a lot harder to sell everyone want the oxycodone. but if u find someone that knows what they are doing u can get let say $8.00-$10.00

For Blood & saliva, there should not be a problem. This only last about 2-3 days, however the urine is something else. You won't be able to pass on your own for that.
