Maybe you are referring to the long, slim peninsula to the northwest, known as Baja California. Such peninsula is separated from the mainland by the Sea of Cortes or Gulf of California.

In Mexico it is hot because it is so close to the equator. It is also humid, this is because the evaporates water quickly and easily. The more that water moisture in the air builds up the more likely it is the rain , because it is building mass in the clouds becoming heavier.

The Mexican Constitution was the first successful constitution Mexico had and used, and it has influenced the Mexican government for decades since its writing.

The exact location of Mexico City didn't have any population at the time. That is why the Aztecs could settle undisturbed and could quickly expand without being attacked until they were well prepared against any foreign invasion (by foreign I mean by other native tribes, such as the Tlaxcalans, Texcocans or any other tribes that resided in Mexico besides the Aztecs).
