MINI Cooper

Valvetronic is BMW's name for its variable valve lift technology. It can vary the amount of lift at the valve to suet the needs of the motor. It consists of an eccentric shaft that is moved by an electric motor, increasing/decreasing the amount of lift at the valve. There are youtube videos and in-depth descriptions on how it works.

FYI, BMWs also use it to control engine speed, the Throttle body on BMW engines is there as a safety feature required by law and is actually open 100% when the engine is running. This reduces pumping losses, increasing HP and MPG.

Possibly, the American War Library might be able to help.

You'll first need to remove the brake calipers.

Once they are removed, there's a screw you'll need to remove from the center section of the rotors between the lugs.

More than likely, the screw will be frozen and hard to remove....likewise, once it's removed the rotor itself will probably need coaxed off as well.

Tap around the rotor edges with a rubber mallet until it comes free.

there is no such thing as clutch fluid. sorry you need a new clutch.

There is indeed clutch fluid(same as brake fluid) in a classic Mini. The master cylinder is in the engine compartment directly above where the clutch pedal is located.

I prefer to use Castrol brand available from Pep Boys in the USA.

If the system is empty though you need to source the leak. Either from the master cylinder into the car or from the slave cylinder down by the clutch.

Where was the oil changed? I'd say if it was at the dealer they may have added a software update as well.
