What muscles are used when swimming?
Practically every muscle in the human body. This is why it has been hailed as one of the most holistic exercise methods ever developed.
okay the muscles you use would all forearm extensors as well as flexers. tighten your fingers as if you were swimming and pulling your hand through the water. you will feel all the muscles in your forearm tighten. next you will use all your muscles in your upper arm as well: brachioradialis, brachialis, as well as the biceps brachii. and definitely your corocobrachialis......okay easy. you use them all. now your shoulders. obviously you will use your deltoids and your rotator cuff ( infraspinatus, supraspinatus, and teres min & maj) your back you use your trapizius and rhomboids for shoulder stabilization and your latissimis dorsi as well as all your abdominal and oblique muscles aid in rotation throughout the stroke. and just as easy you lower body: your gluteus maj. min, and medius all work as synergists to each other. the deep gluteal muscles ( piriformis, gamellis....) are mainly used in external rotation so you can forget about them. and your legs....any muscle that its' function is to extend or flex your hip, knee or foot are going to be used in swimming.
swimming is such a great workout BECAUSE it uses almost allyour muscles.
Here it goes: Thighs, calfs, biceps, triceps, every part of your back, heart, brain, lungs, abdomine, pecs, muscles in your feet , all the muscles in your hands, your wrists, your ankles, your jaw, your eyelids, your tounge, your fingers, your toes, your jaw, your neck.
What is the muscle group that extends the knee?
The quadriceps muscles of the anterior compartment of the thigh are responsible for the action of extending the knee. The quadriceps are actually four muscles all working together. They consist of the rectus femoris, the vastus lateralis, the vastus medialis, and the vastus intermedius. They are all monoarticulate, except the rectus femoris which is diarticulate, which means that it acts on two joints.
What muscles are used in lifting?
It all depends on what exercises you do with the weights, you can use just about all the muscles in your body depending on what muscle group you want to focus on.
The type of muscle you mainly use is skeletal muscles; the muscles connected to you bones
What muscles would you use for competitive running?
As the athlete begins to start running forward, right arm goes forward at the same time as the left arm going back. This forms the drive phase using the biceps which allow you to have a strong arm swing & the deltoids which help the body to drive forward as well as the trapezius and latissimus dorsi; the joints the arms are using is the ball and socket joint at the shoulder and the hinge joint at the elbow -slightly, this is repeated on the other side of the body as the left arm comes forward. As the first leg takes a step the quadriceps help you to push off the ground, the hamstrings and glutes help to bring the leg back and restart the leg turnover and the gastrocnemius helps you to have a stable base when you sprint in your spikes. Always remember that your core is very important because you use your back and abdominals in all kinds of running, but they are enormously important for acceleration.
When in a rugby scrum what type of contraction is used?
As the muscles in both expand and contract during the exercise of kicking the muscle listed undertake at least one of these functions in the kicking leg. The stand leg also undertakes expansion and contraction but of course to a lesser degree.
gluteus maximus and medius
adductor magnus
semitendinous
gracillis
biceps femoris
semimembranosus
sartorius
plantaris
gastrocnemius
solueus
pectoralis muscles, deltoids, latissimus dorsi, shoulder external and internal rotator muscles, hamstrings, quads
In Tudor England, people started to use hand bells for exercise.
They removed the clappers and so made them dumb bells.
Which muscles does the Bench Press help?
One of the core exercises of power lifting and strength training in general, the bench press develops the pectoralis major and minor (large muscle group making up your chest) and triceps primarily, but also helps develop the anterior deltoid (front shoulder muscle), and the serratus anterior, a muscle on either side of the body that flares out slightly from the bottom of the armpit to the middle area of the ribcage. The serratus anterior is also known as the "boxer's muscle", because this muscle is utilized by pushing the scapula forward and around the rib cage when executing a punch. The forearms will also be developed to a lesser degree because they act as a stabilizer when performing the bench press. Adjusting the position of one's body, such as sitting up at a roughly 45 degree angle (incline bench press), or lowering the bench and lying back with the head below the horizontal position of the hips (decline bench press) help isolate the upper and lower portions of the pectoral muscles, respectively. The width between one's hands when gripping the bar is also significant; a wide grip concentrates force in the pectorals, while a close grip concentrates force in the triceps.
The bench press is an excellent upper body exercise and crucial to developing power and definition in the chest, shoulders and arms. Large chest and shoulder muscles also help define the so-called "V-shaped" torso in a man, which women across nearly all cultures cite as a physically/sexually attractive trait. And remember: safety first! Always make sure to have a spot and I highly recommend against benching alone, lest you want to asphyxiate yourself or knock out your front teeth! If you don't have access to a bench press or are by yourself, push-ups will suffice, for the most part. Just make sure to do them often and to push yourself to do more.
Which muscle groups are used in soccer?
people stretch their abdominals, biceps, triceps, deltoids, and hamstrings in soccer People use their abdominals, biceps, triceps, deltoids, hamstrings, and obliques to stretch in soccer. ANSWER you use your legs, feet, toes, head, chest, and if your a goaly you use your hands
Do you use ice or heat to treat knotted muscles?
I had the same exact question today. I found this site to be the most helpful. It explains the difference very well.

What are the effects of a high concentration of lactic acid in the muscle fiber?
When a muscle has used up its normal energy stores, but still needs energy, lactic acid is released into the muscles. Small amounts of lactic acid acts as temporary energy source, helping the body to avoid fatigue. A build-up of lactic acid in the muscles causes a burning sensation in the muscles that can slow down or halt activity.
Which term describes a physical activity that includes both cardio and strength-training exercises?
Anaerobic and aerobic describes that type of physical activity.
Why couldn't your heart have cardiac tissue?
Cardiac muscle, like other muscles, can contract, but it can also carry an action potential (i.e. conduct electricity), like the neurons that constitute nerves. Furthermore, some of the cells have the ability to generate an action potential, known as cardiac muscle automaticity. (Some cells can make the heart beat on its own.) This doesn't occur in any other type of muscle tissue. This ability can keep the heart pumping even under disease conditions.
Single-family attached houses have a multi-unit design just like that of the apartment within a building. Houses are still built separately but the walls are attached to each other.
What other system works with muscular system?
Other systems that work with the muscular system are the skeletal system. & the digestive system.
What is a short single contraction called?
A short single contraction is called an acronym. An acronym is a word formed from the first letters of each word in a phrase. For example NASA stands for National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
Mesoderm
Is intestine a voluntary muscles?
It's involuntary, we cannot voluntary control our digestion, or the functions of our organs
Is the deltoid a mover of the arm that acts in adduction?
Yes. Deltoid (Delta like.) is the prime mover of arm. It moves shoulder joint in forward, backward and laterally. It is a continuation ofTrapeziusmuscle. It is 'not' mentioned in any anatomy books. But you can verify it. Trapezius is inserted in inner side of clavicle and spine of scapula and from outer side of the same Deltoid muscle starts.
