Why do composers write in F sharp minor not G flat minor?

G and A are only one step away from each other while F and A are two. While Gb to A still sounds like a minor third, written on the staff it looks like a second.

Also, you can't have the same note letter twice in a scale. If you went up the (natural minor) scale from Gb, the next note would be Ab, then A, thus using the same note letter twice in a scale.

Also, in A major, the relative major to F# minor, the sharps are F#, C#, and G#. F# already being in the key signature, it seems more natural to use F# than G.

How do you identify pentatonic scales?

Pentatonic scales have only five distinct notes - do, re, mi, so, and la (or the tonic, supertonic, mediant, dominant, and submediant). In written music it can be easily identified by the lack of the fa and ti (subdominant and leading tone). When listening to music, the pentatonic scale has a very distinct sound which can be heard by playing the scale up and down. One way to get a feel for the scale is to play a piece with only the black notes on the piano. This forces the melody into a pentatonic scale.

How do you write first inversion triads in part writing?

Take the middle note of the triad and make sure that is what the lowest part is playing or singing. If you are working with 4 part writing, ideally you will have two voices covering the bottom note of the triad (note- this is not the same as the lowest note that is being played- make sure you remember the difference), one voice on the middle note, and one voice on the top note (of the triad). Just do the best you can, avoiding parallel movement between voices. Good luck!

What does it mean when A song is in the key of C but uses the black notes Example is the famous super Mario theme?

In the Mario theme, there are two reasons why black notes are used in C major. One reason is because of chromaticism, which is when there is movement in half steps (or semitones), and in the Mario theme, the G sharp in the part that is E C G G# A F F A is an example of this. Another reason that is in the Mario theme is mode mixture, which is taking notes from a parallel minor key into a song with a major key, or vice versa. An example of this is when the E flat from c minor is used in the Mario theme.

There are also other ways this can happen, which aren't in the Mario theme. One way this happens is by a song temporarily being in a different key even though the temporary key is not notated. Another way is through the use of twelve-tone technique (or serialism), which uses all of the twelve tones that make up an octave.

What do the tiny notes mean in Simple Aveu?

If the tiny notes have a slash through them, those are acciacaturas. They are meant to be swiftly played before the beat of the note they're connected to.

If it's just another regular note, only smaller, that is an appoggiatura. This note will be played on the beat of the note connected, only they will both share the beat. For example, if an F is connected to an E (and the E being a crotchet), you will play F then E, each lasting one quaver.

Are there any disadvantages to an AKG C418 Mic?

There are always disadvantages to everything. The C418 was (it is discontinued) a clip-on instrument microphone for drums and percussion. It was quite expensive, did not have a long enough boom to be used with instruments like a saxophone, and it required phantom or bias voltage power to operate.
