What could I do as a product for my Senior Project on Drag Racing if building a car isn't an option?
I don't know the requirements, however, a few ideas come to mind, any gear head would enjoy doing. Get a couple of NASCAR die cast models, and build to scale a model demonstrating how the aerodynamics of the draft work. Use a small fan, and smoke emitting object to demonstrate. Another would be to get one of those models that you build, of a working car engine. They are transparent, and you could break down exactely how a 4 stroke internal combustion engine works. Or, how about some sort of report, with photos, on the negativer effects of street racing. Maybe that would save one of your classmates lives.

Is there a Colorado drag racing law?
I will make one thing absolutely, positively, crystal clear. I, my Father, and many others grew up street racing. I will also publicly admit, right here, right now, that without a doubt, street racing was the most stupid thing I have ever done in my life, and that statement does not come without heavy competition! Street racing has one basic law in every state that I know of. Illegal! Dragstrips are popping up everywhere. Use them. Competition driving is one of the coolest things in the world to participate in, as long as it follows a few rules. Closed course, safety rules mandated by a sanctioning body, ie: NASCAR,SCCA, NHRA, IHRA, ect. We have even lost some of our greatest contributors to motorsports, under those conditions. Misuse of horse power, is equal to playing with a loaded gun! With the ability to perform magic on these cars comes a responsibility.
Harm is relative to how you drive the car. On a long enough timeline, all moving parts eventually wear out. rather you are hitting the track, strip, or just Sunday driving and grocery getting, you are putting hours and wear on the moving parts. The simple answer is that if you are going to race or drag your stock GT, or any car for that matter, you are creating tourqe on the miving parts that may be in excess of the drivetrains ability to translate it into horsepower at the real wheels. Simply put, that energy has to go somewhere and will shorten the lifespan of the moving parts. Do what you want with your car, but if it is your daily transportation I would think before you slam the accelerator. You will do harm faster so all you are doing is raceing to the mechanic shop.
Why are drag races a quarter mile in length?

What are the cam specs for an nhra 500ci prostock engine?
They are insane. Over an inch of lift and the duration at fifty is high 280s low 290s. But they use a lot of lobe separation angle (116-118). They will idle at a decent rpm. Those cams KILL valve springs. They go through a set maybe every two/three runs. $4000 a set?? But you are lifting a very large valve an INCH @9000 rpm.
How was Nitrous Oxide used in drag racing and nascar racing?
Nitrous Oxide is still used in drag racing but as far as i know it is not or has ever been used in NASCAR. Nitrous is a nonflammable gas that expands really fast when exposed to a heat source. It is used with the same idea as a blower or supercharger. Forcing as much air into the engine as possible. The engines have low compression pistons in them and the nitrous is injected into the intake usually in stages raising the shot pressure as the car moves down the track. Which in turn causes the fuel to burn allot easier, fuel is much more volatile under pressure. When you see the cars explode and they say it was a nitrous explosion it is almost the same effect as blowing up a paper bag and popping it only with fuel mixed with it.
