Nickelodeon was originally launched in December 1977 as the Pinwheel Channel. In April 1979, the channel re-launched itself declaring its name "Nickelodeon" and declaring its 1979 year as its official launch year. It has aired popular kids and teen shows such as "You Can't Do That On Television," "All That" and "The Secret World of Alex Mack." It also airs its annual Awards show which is now called the "Kids' Choice Awards." I think so (that direct TV has Nicktoons Network). My favorite shows to watch on NIcktoons Network are Spongebob Squarepants (animated episodes) , Chalk Zone, Fairly Odd Parents (animated episodes), and some other old classics on nick that use to be on NIckelodeon. I wish the old Nickelodeon is on again, but I don't care about buying those reruns/animated cartoon shows on DVD to watch.
