To be "obsessive" refers to something that is done repeatedly, and habitually. Someone who washes their hands, 5x in an hour, every hour, everyday, then they have OCD. I believe you have OCD when your obsession corrupts your everday life. When ordinary operations take more time and effort, you're considered obsessive. However, it is a mindset that can be altered. It's curable, but it takes determination and desire to change. A process similar to smoking or overeating. I don't believe you are born with it because the youth don't seem to be victoms. Also, it's difficult to determine who is obsessive when we are a culturally oriented soceity where beauty and perfection scream at us left and right.

I DO think so. I have had it ever since i was a little girl, and here were/are my symptoms. -panic attacks -constant worrying -making everything in order. For me, everything sort of has to be in a pyramid formation, but in most cases, it is more along the whole straight line thing. that USED to be my case, but now it is liek this. -beign forced to repeat it wherever you go. -Feeling mixed emotions about almost everything. OCD has helped in my career as an accountant. I have great attention to detail, extensive ability to focus. I'm pretty good at seeing see relationships between numbers and find patterns in statistics. I can recall facts and figures from several years past. I also keep at a problem until it is solved, often long past others have gone home, and long past my bedtime.... so you can see that

Yes they can, some dogs are very picky and like things a certain way, for example...dogs might only go for a walk at a certain time and if they go before or after that time they might become aggresive. Just like humans with OCD, dogs can have anxiety and become very scared all of a sudden

Yes apparently it will work, probably not that well though, having ECT's work best for people with depression, but it is also debated the only reason why ECT's work is because it makes you have temporary amnesia, which is not good, you could forget years of your life and possibly not get it back that is if you have more than 10, for ECT's to be effective would be if you have at least 10, but I personally think this is a useless tool and used for an excuse for people with psychosis in which there is nothing left to do, therapy and medication would be much more effective.
