I don't know why it does that but the only way i found that copied any text from a web document to Open Office is by going to Edit>Paste Special>Formatted Text[RTF]

I don't know either o_o, but when this happens I just copy the text in the table then undo the paste and repaste if OOo is giving me issues about getting rid of the table.

- On the Text Import box choose Comma in the Separator options

If you want to put those cells into an existing spreadsheet do as above to make a new file and then copy those cells to the existing sheet.
I just tried another way,
- in a text editor copy the comma separated values to the clipboard (Ctrl+c)
- then in Calc, paste the values in (Ctrl+v) (you will get the same Text Import settings box)
While typing in a formula the F4 key can be used to change a cell reference to being relative, absolute and mixed. This makes it slightly quicker to do.

Unfortunately, there is no single command to delete empty rows. Your only option is to deleted them manually. HOWEVER - you can delete more than one row at once - even if they're not adjacent. Simply hold down the CTRL key, and left-click each empty row in turn - there will be a highlighted box in each row as you progress. Once you get to last one, right-click, select Delete and choose Entire row. Click OK and you're done. This will remove every row you highlighted.
