It depends how it's been addressed.

If it's marked 'confidential' or 'personal' or 'FAO' (for attention of' a named person), it should only be opened by that person or their representative (a secretary can open such mail for their boss for example).

No-one legally has any right to open mail (internal or otherwise) addressed to an individual without their prior consent. HOWEVER - in large offices, it's often company practice to open (but not read) all incoming mail before distribution within the building.

Absolutely - OpenOffice is a fantastic alternative to the strangle-hold of Microsoft Office. I've been using OpenOffice since version 1.2 - and have never had any problems (either with the download or the software). Just remember to download it from the official OpenOffice web-site. Yes it is ! I just checked using an existing document, and French Script MT is available in the font menu.

To set the left & right margins...

Click Format > Page > Page > type values for your margins in the relevant boxes > OK

Alignment is defining where on the page that text will line up. Tex normally aligns to the left margin - however, you can align to the right margin or even centre each line on the page.

is access file.mdb compatible with open Office.org data base, haw can I open the acces file into open Office data base ?

You don't delete them from OpenOffice; you delete them by right-clicking them in Nautilus (the folder explorer) and selecting delete.

Powerpoint files can be opened in the Open Office Presentation section. Select a New Presentation from the File menu. Select the Open Existing Presentation option. Click the Open... button and select your Powerpoint file. Powerpoint files with the extensions .ppt .pps .pot .pptm .pptx .potm or .potx are recognised.

Click on start, then control panel, then default programs, and select set your default programs.

Once you'e typed the main body of your text, you can move the margins to create extra space to the left, so you can add in side headings.
