This answer depends on how technical your answer needs to be. The user interface ships with the operating system, so the average computer user might consider the user interface to be a part of the system. If you care to get technical, however, the user interface is not part of the operating system.

On all versions of Windows since at least 3.1, the graphical user interface is a module that runs atop the kernel, and is not actually part of the operating system. In fact, it can be swapped out for a different user interface, and the operating system will still run.

Similarly, you can remove the user interface, and the system will still operate (this is how some servers are configured; not loading a graphical interface can reduce memory and processor usage). Contrast this to a driver; if you remove a driver, the system will not run that hardware, thus, an installed driver becomes part of the operating system.

Technically, anything that runs in "ring level 0" on an Intel-based processor is part of the operating system, and everything else is not. If the user interface were in ring level 0, programs would be running with kernel permissions, and could thus take over the system without difficulty, since they would already be "in the kernel."

The user interface is not trusted, and so runs outside the kernel to allow the system to be more reliable.

Personal opinion, not much. You get only the brand and a different operating system. Software is more limited.

Main advantages: Ease of use and reliability, reliability, reliability. Also, much better customer support. If by "software" you mean "games," then yes, "software" is more limited. There isn't anything else you would miss.

For the moment MAC OS is known to not get viruses. This is because not many people own them compared to the amount of people in the world that own PCs. Also those that do own MACs use them for media purposes. Ex: music production. Whereas those that use PCs use them in business applications and much more. For that reason hackers aren't too intrested in spending time in cracking a MACs firewall thus for a few more years you mignt not see MACs getting viruses or until hackers see that it's worth their time to get some valuable information. The second thing you might want to know about MACs is that if your an engineering student like myself, we use AutoCAD a designing program which are only available for Windows, the MAC wouldn't be much of a help. But back in the real world: Mac OS X does not get viruses because it is built on the UNIX operating system which has been around for decades and is proven to be highly secure. If the Mac is running the Windows operating system (on a Mac you have a choice) then it is liable to become infected with the thousands of viruses and malware that infect the poorly implemented Windows operating system. If you are an engineering student you can enjoy using applications such as AutoCAD (See links below) on your virus free Mac.

1. Windows has had the right mouse button standard for many, many years. The context-sensitive menu that pops up on right-click radically improves efficiency. Apple has finally started including a right button with some Macs.
2. In Windows, each application has its own menubar. On Mac, there is only one menu bar and it is replaced with the menus of each application as that app becomes active. This is confusing and becomes especially perplexing when an application is on a second monitor but its menubar is on the first monitor.
3. In Windows, you can drag any edge of a window to resize it. On Mac, you can only resize a window by dragging its lower right corner. This is really frustrating when the lower right edge of the window is off the screen. In that case, you have to first drag the window to make the lower right corner visible.
4. Apple computers cost more than Windows PCs for equivalent-power hardware.
5. Apple computers use proprietary hardware and cannot be upgraded with more powerful motherboards as technology improves. Windows PCs use standard form factors and any component can be upgraded.

There's no real big disadvantage.

People say that the software options are not as big as Windows unless you get a Windows emulator. That is not true. You would see if you get Wine or CrossOver

Who cares if you can't put, say, a new graphics card in and you can't do it on a Mac? They always come with good drives and graphics card.

The "less control" thing is not true.

Introduction:

In formatting a hard drive, it will erase all data, files, folders, anything in the disc. It will replace a new copy of Windows 7 on the hard disk. Before formatting a hard drive, it is good to back up your stuffs and drivers before formatting a hard drive.

What will you need:

• A pendrive/ external drive / back up disc
• Windows 7 Installation disc
• DVD (atleast 4GB each) and Windows 7 ISO image.
• Windows 7 activation key
• Double Driver
• DriverPack Solution
• Any ISO Burner

Back up:

To back up your files, you can choose from two options:

1. Backup using a Pendrive / External Drive. To back up files using this option you will need a high-capacity pendrives (USB) or Hard Drvies with enclosures and SATA/PATA to USB cable. Go to "Computer" then documents, copy these files to your Back Up drive. [It is recommended to rename your Back Up drive so it is not confusing for you to distinguish drives].
2. Create a Back Up Disc. There are lots of freeware Back Up disc creator in the internet. Try searching google. Insert the DVD and start back up.

Prepare the Drivers:

• If you are not upgrading any hardware component on your CSU, the use programs such as the "Double Driver". Download the Double Driver on the internet and start the program. Click the Backup button on the header. Then click "Scan Current System". Check all that you need to back up then press the "Backup Now" button. Choose the directory on where you want to save the drivers.
• But if you are upgrading hardware, it's recommended to use DriverPack Solution. It will install any drivers into a PC.

Burning Windows 7:

Installing and Setting up Windows 7:

Before installing Windows 7, at this point, you should have a valid genuine license key (to be bought at Microsoft). If you are using laptop, it's good to insert battery while plugged in.

1. Insert the disk into the CD-ROM. Shut down the PC/Laptop.
2. Boot the PC again, and enter Boot Menu. Some PC use F8 or del key to enter Boot Menu. It's better to know how to operate your BIOS and Boot Menu. When you are inside the Boot Menu, boot in the CD-ROM. You can distinguish which is the CD-ROM and the Hard Disk by looking at the label. Usually, Hard Disk have their size capacity on their label. So boot at the CD-ROM. It will reboot again but this time, do not enter boot menu. If you see the Windows OS is booting, then you need to start booting it up again and loading the CD-ROM in the Boot Menu. But if it shows the Windows 7 Installation, then you must continue.
3. Select "English" as installation language, select the proper time and currency for your country, and select the porper Keyboard and input method. Click "Next". Tick the box beside the "I accept the license terms" then click "Next". Then select "Custom(Advanced)" installation type.
4. Click the Hard Drive / Partition you want to format. Then click drive options. Click "Format" option. Click Next.
5. After the Hard Drive / Partition has been formatted, it will notify you to install Windows 7 on that Hard Drive / Partition. Click next after Windows has notified that formatting is complete, click "Next". The setup will continue. It will soon ask you to set your time, location, computers name and password. Computer will reboot.
6. After reboot, install the drivers needed. If you used Double Driver, then install the previous drivers. But it's recommended to use DriverPack Solution because it provides updated drivers. Reboot the PC after driver installation. Install previous programs and restore the backuped files.

Recommendation:

It is recommended to install Antivirus program first. This can help you prevent any malicious program in your computer.
