There is NO name for opium in homeopathic "medication", because opium is NOT used in such solutions. Opium is also NOT used in conventional pharmaceutical medications. However, opiate alkaloids are used in conventional medicines, but NOT in homeopathics. To better understand this, you must fully grasp the concept of what opium is, as well as what homeopathic "medicines" are.

OPIUM:

Opium is the latex (aka resin or tar) from the seed pod of a mature poppy plant. Many people hold the misconception that opium is ONE drug, in and of itself. However, this is definitely NOT the case. Opium, actually contains MANY different, individual drugs. Opium is basically a "cocktail" or mixture of many drugs (and active ingredients). These drugs are referred to as opiate alkaloids. Examples of such are Morphine, Codeine, and Thebaine. There are MANY more alkaloids than these three, however those are the most important. These alkaloids are used (separately) in conventional pharmaceutical medication (mainly for painkillers) either in their natural form, or in a semi-synthetic form. Semi-synthetics are simply natural opiate alkaloids, that have been chemically refined/processed to slightly change the effects or properties. For example, Morphine can be converted to diacetylmorphine, also known as heroin, which acts faster than morphine. Thebaine is used to create most of today's most effective painkillers, such as oxycodone, hydrocodone, oxymorphone, and hydromorphone. Whether in their natural form, or refined, these are all known as opiates or opiate alkaloids. Opium is simply the raw plant latex (resin) from the seed pods. It is smoked by most opium users, but is also eaten and made into tea. It is NOT a common drug in Western countries, like the US. However, its alkaloids ARE commonly used in medications for pain treatment in the US. Remember that "pure" opium (the natural plant latex) is NEVER found in its natural state in any Western pharmaceutical medications. It is extracted from seed pods, then each alkaloid is separated from it for different applications. (ex: US, Britain, Germany, France, etc NEVER use "pure" opium as medicine. ONLY the ALKALOIDS are used.)

HOMEOPATHIC "MEDICATIONS":

Yes, it (medications) is intentionally in quotation marks! This is because homeopathics are not actually considered medications by the medical industry and its professionals. To understand why this is, you must understand exactly what homeopathics are, how they are used, and what the "logic" behind them is. Before I begin explaining this, I must assure you that you shall NEVER find opium in ANY homeopathic "medications". One of the main concepts behind homeopathy, is to NOT use narcotic drugs, or any conventional medicines (conventional medicine means medicines used by hospitals, doctors, and the professional medical industry). Homeopathy goes against the modern trend of proven medicines that have been proven to work, and instead uses "alternative" substances. Homeopathy IS a form of alternative treatment (like crystal therapy and theraputic touch). For example, a doctor may prescribe Oxycodone to a severe pain patient, but a homeopathic "pharmacist" will give some other (alternative) substance.

Modern homeopathy was created by German physician, Samuel Hahnemann, in the late eighteenth century. The concept behind homeopathy is "like cures like". In other words, if someone has a certain ailment, like nausea, a chemical is given to them that actually causes nausea, in hopes that their body will fight off the chemical and begin to resist the nausea naturally. Most homeopathic "remedies" are actually poisons or toxins, that would make one VERY ill if taken in large quantity. Hahnemann understood this, so he began diluting all of his "remedies" in water. This was supposed to stop any harmful effects of the toxin (from overdose), and allow the body to strengthen itself against the toxin's effect (and the ailment). Another example would be, if a patient suffered from asthma, a chemical, diluted in water, that actually causes trouble breathing, would be given to them. According to the Homeopathic Theory, the body would destroy/fight off the toxin. By fighting off the toxin and its effects, it was believed that the body would start to naturally resist the effects of the ailment, which in this example is asthma. Hahnemann had much faith in this theory, and began marketing his new concepts and solutions. However, several problems arise with both the concept and the solutions.

Homeopathy is NOT accepted as a viable means of treatment for ANY ailments. Almost every doctor would advise against using such "treatment", and advise that you use an accepted method. This is because the Homeopathic Theory is NOT scientifically sound or proven. What many people do not understand, is that by taking a toxin that causes a certain ill-effect, your body may or may NOT even become immune to the toxin itself (and is HIGHLY unlikely that it will). In addition, even IF the body becomes immune to the toxin itself, it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE for this to "immunize" or cure one's self from the ailment, sickness, or problem. So basically, taking a diluted poison that causes vomiting, may NOT even "immunize" you to the toxin itself. Also, it will surely NOT make you "immune" or "free" of vomiting. You WILL vomit again, eventually, and the same thing is true of all other health problems and sicknesses. So with this being said, you are SO unlikely to gain anything positive from such solutions, that you should probably seek conventional treatment. Another thing that few know, is that homeopathic "remedies" are diluted to the point of ineffectiveness. As previously stated, almost every (if not every) homeopathic "remedy" is actually a TOXIN or a poison. These chemicals CAN cause death, sickness, or severe problems. To avoid causing such health hazards, the solution is diluted with water. Here is the funny part:

HOW HOMEOPATHIC "REMEDIES" ARE MOST COMMONLY MADE:

Step1) A toxin/poison is obtained that causes an effect similar (or same) to the very health problem or sickness it hopes to cure.

Step2) The tiniest drop (smaller than an average drop of water) of that toxin imaginable is placed into a large container.

Step3) Water is then added to dilute the solution, until the solution is basically water, with an almost untraceable amount of the toxin/poison.

Step4) The homeopathicist then either shakes the solution or taps the bottom with their palm (tapping is most common). They believe this makes the toxin/poison's "spirit-like force" come out, and makes the water take on the toxin's properties.

Step5) The chemical is usually then removed from the solution, leaving only water that once touched the toxin. They believe the water has been somehow changed by the toxin, however it is scientifically impossible. Very rarely is the toxin left in the solution. In the event that it is, the solution is so diluted that it practically equates to less than 50mg's in an olympic-size swimming pool. There is either nothing, or too little to be effective. Then parts of the contents are poured into many smaller bottles and more water is added to those. The solutions are then ready for sale.

Step6) This water is then sold to consumers for considerable prices and used.

Modern science and medical technology has PROVEN (beyond a doubt) that such "remedies" are ineffective and do NOT work. Sometimes, if the toxin is left in the solution, and enough is consumed, it can cause serious illness or death. However, some people claim that these "remedies" work. Scientific experimentation has proven that this is caused by the Placebo effect, and in some cases was LESS effective than Placebo! Double-blind studies have repeatedly shown tap-water to be more effective than many high-priced homeopathics. Homeopathics have NEVER been proven to be any more effective than Placebo. The power of the human mind, time, faith, and natural bodily processes are what causes ANY (and all) positive effects. Homeopathics simply do NOT work.

If, for instance, your grandmother (or another loved-one) was dying (ill with) of cancer, would you choose to give her a homeopathic "remedy", or get her the best conventional and accepted medical care possible? Any sensible person could easily choose practical medical care. I am a chronic pain patient for SEVERE back pain. I have 9 degenerated disks, and my spine is curved and twisted in several places. I have tried virtually EVERY type of treatment known to man, including homeopathy. Homeopathy did NOTHING! Eventually, I went to a pain-specialist and was put on about 300mg of Oxycodone per day (OxyContin and Roxicodone). Since then, my quality of life has DRASTICALLY improved. I am now productive, happy, and live a normal life, despite my horrible ailments. If someone told me they would take away my conventional care and give me homeopathics, I would be so angry I may hurt them! (haha!) You can believe in such things if you like, but if you really have true health issues, and wish to feel better, homeopathics is NOT for you! Get conventional care! Homeopathics do NOT do ANYthing! I promise you this, and science does as well!

Opium itself is not a single drug or chemical, and does not have its own distinct chemical structure. Instead, opium is a "cocktail" of different drugs (opiate alkaloids) which all occur in the plant's resin naturally. There are many different active substances (alkaloids) found in the resin (opium latex). The main psychoactives are morphine, codeine, and thebaine, however, there are many others. Each one of these opiate alkaloids has its own unique chemical structure and properties. Each one also acts independently on the central nervous system (CNS) when opium is ingested, but they all produce (somewhat) similar effects which compliment each other.

You can grow opium poppies in Idaho, but they make terrible cut flowers.
