Ovulation is the release of a mature egg (or ovum) from one of the ovaries. It occurs about 14 days after the end of the last menstrual cycle. The egg travels down one of the fallopian tubes and is available for fertilization.

Can you LH surge after ovulation?

I went off trynessa Feb 14, 2010 after being back on it for a year. I had the normal "post birthcontrol" bleeding the following week and then my normal expected period March 3, 2010 for the normal 5 days. I know it can take some time to get back to "normal," but my husband and I wanted to start ttc right away. I started OPK to see how soon ovulation after stopping the pills would start. I finally got a positive surge on March 21 at 10:00 AM and it lasted until March 22 between 7:00 PM and 10:00 PM. Before the positive surge we have been having sex at least every other day and then after that, every day. We even had sex the night before the positive surge. I have also been BBT charting, but since I don't sleep well at night and I move around a lot, I don't think that is very accurate, or at least I don't trust it. Prior to all of this, I am pretty sure I had a regular schedule, having a regular period within a day or two each month. Just curious if anyone has had a similar situation and conceived right away. This is the first time I ever tried to see when I ovulated, so I'm not sure if this is my normal time or just because it is "post bc pills.".....if I even ovulated at all!! Also, the night before I had a positive surge, I had a huge clump of jelly like discharge when I wiped after a bm.

Are ovulation kits reliable and worth the money?

yup It honestly depends on the brand and on the woman. Some women just don't produce a whole lot of LH (the hormone that the test looks for) and never get a positive ovulation test result. Sometimes the brand makes a difference because it's just not sensitive enough. I recently read an article on this.. let me see if I can find it.. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/01/27/earlyshow/health/main538075.shtml there it is, it will help you choose a brand to use. ~pawsalmighty The generic brand from Target has worked very well for me. The Clear Blue easy test would fail at a rate of 1 test per box of 7 tests.

Can you get pregnancy signs 4 days after ovulation?

No. It takes time for the hormones to build up within the body to see the signs of pregnancy. If you had unprotected sex 3-4 days BEFORE ovulation it is possible you are pregnant because sperm can live in the uterus 5-6 days, but you won't know for 3-4 weeks when you miss your first period. If you NOT had unprotected sex from day 11-18 of your cycle and have a 28 day cycle it is doubtful you are pregnant.

Can a woman release more than one egg during ovulation?

Yes, non identical twins are 2 eggs fertilised by 2 sperms.

When a woman gets her menstrasul cycle twice in one month does she ovulate?

Having your period twice in one month is totally fine if you're only a few years into it. It's normal to have long periods, short ones, early, late and all that stuff. I think it might even be okay if you've had it for some time now, but i am not positive. Good luck!;)

How can you differentiate between ovulation bleeding and implantation bleeding?

Yes. This happened to me. I thought I was having a lighter, longer period which lasted a whole week. I didn't find out until my period was due the following month that I was pregnant. I thought I was four weeks pregnant. Several weeks later during an ultrasound I was informed that I was four weeks further along than I had thought. I had mistaken the implantation bleeding for my period! No where in any of my research did I see anything about implantation bleeding lasting that long. Most of the information I found said it lasts hours or possibly a day and only 1/4 of women experience implantation bleeding.

What is cervical mucus like during ovulation?

How many egg cell release during ovulation?

normally one egg is released from one ovary during ovulation. That egg releases hormones that signal the other eggs to stay put. Sometimes two eggs release at the same time (usually one from each ovary) and that's how you get twins. Some fertility drugs tell the ovary to release more than one egg, which is why fertility drugs often lead to multiple births.

How do you know when your in ovulation?

It is really pretty simple to figure out without a lot of mystery. If you have a 28 day cycle as most women do your ovulation is on or about day 14. The easy way to figure this out is an old fashion pocket calendar. Get one and when you start your period mark the date on the calendar with a check. That is day one and keep going until your next period. Do this each month and you will see a pattern. Not only will you know how long your cycle is, but when the mid point of it is. That is usually when ovulation occurs. Remember that if you have sex between days 11 and 18 you could get pregnant. Sperm lives in the uterus for 5-6 days which means in a 28 day cycle if you have sex on day 11 the sperm will be present when you ovulate on day 14. So, if you don't want a bundle of joy make sure to use protection. You should be using protection all the time anyway.
You can go get a test from a drug store and that will give you a 3 day range on when you are most likely to conceive.

Why would you get vaginal sores during ovulation?

This is a fairly common problem with women. It is usually because the PH level of your body is out and you may have a high acid content in your system. Once your ovulation is over you should get rid of this. "Sits baths" (nothing in the water and be sure the water is body temperature) is a wonderful way to get rid of this irritation. If you find it is extremely bothersome, please see your physician and they can give you some cream for this. Marcy See the notice board 'What causes Vaginal Sores' too.

Could I get pregnant if intercourse was 6 days after ovulation?

No. It is impossible to experience pregnancy symptoms till the Embryo has implanted in your Uterus and begins releasing HCG. When the HCG is at a high enough level then you begin experiencing symptoms. It takes 8-12 days after intercourse for HCG to be relased. So narrow it down to 2 weeks and then you can test 3 weeks after intercourse.

Failure rates for coitus interuptus, although somewhat difficult to ascertain, are thought to be as high as 25%. The problem is that pre-seminal fluid (pre cum) leaks from the penis prior to ejaculation. Even a small amount of pre-seminal fluid contain live sperm.

With no egg present, chances of pregnancy are 0. Though sperm do live in the human female for an estimated 3 days.

What is a woman's temperature when she is ovulating?

Its not the actual temperature that is important, but the rise in temperature. If you plot your temperature from day one (when your period starts) you should see a 0.2 degree centigrade rise at ovulation and you'll be fertile for a few days after that. Also if you have sex a few days before that you can get pregnant as the sperm stays alive for a few days.

Its important to take the temperature at the same time each day when it won't be affected by activity or drinking/eating hot/cold stuff. First thing in the morning is best.

If you're not seeing the rise and you're getting tired at the time you should ovulate then you are lacking in energy and need to change your diet.

Can one fall pregnant 4 days after her periods?

Hello. A woman can become pregnant any time throughout her reproductive years. Conceiving a baby during the time of your period is very unlikely because there simply isn't a egg in the correct position in which to be fertilized. A day before or a day after your period and you can conceive.

Sorry but the above statement is incorrect. The uterus releases one egg a month, the reason a woman goes into menses is to discard that egg. A woman can rarely release more than one egg a month but menses destroys any egg in the womb and gets rid of it through elimination in the period process. You are basically infertile 10 days from the last day of your period at which time around the 11-13 day a new egg is released and takes up occupation on the uterus wall. It is a myth that a woman can get pregnant at any time of her life, as it is also a myth that even a single sperm cell can impregnate a woman. It takes 50,000 sperm cells on average to have even a 50% chance of impregnation do to the hostile environment of the vagina. Less than that, less chance.
