How long does it take for a parakeet to lay her eggs?
Well, Parakeets breed in the beginning of Spring and Fall. As an example, I'm going to use Fall. On the first day of Fall (September 23 *2010*), would be the best time to put in the nest box. Maybe even earlier. Then, you should waite about an exact month. (My Parakeets mated after an exact month). Which would be October 23. Around those days---October 22,23,24--- your Parakeets should mate. You should at least waite a week (Example: October 22-29). <<< If you don't see your Parakeets mate within these days, they probably don't want to, or their not ready to breed yet. Your Parakeets should mate for a few days till their done mating. After their done mating, about 10 days later, her eggs should start to appear. Now, all you have to do, is sit back, and watch little, young, beautiful Parakeets grow up to be amazing pets! :D :D :D
Can female parakeets have periods?
Birds do not menstruate ("have periods"). Only mammals menstruate. If a female bird has blood or non-feces discharge coming out of her cloaca, she needs immediate medical attention. Birds can bleed to death very quickly.

The term comes from the Spanish periquito.
What does it mean when a parakeet flaps its wings really fast?
If you had your parakeet's wings clipped then they are probably growing back now. Your Parakeet might be flapping to see if he or she can fly again yet.
All species of birds occasionally flap their wings around as a form of stretching exercises. So your parakeet may be stretching or exercising, which is good as it helps their lungs, chest and wings develop.
Yes, they are very smart. Some can even be as smart as a two-year-old. With enough hard work, they can even learn to talk!
Parakeet birds can catch cold very easily with a drafty window or cold room. That could be why your bird died. I'm sorry you lost your bird.
My parakeet won't eat her food - what is the most humane way to destroy her?
Did she just stop eating, or did you just get her? If it is the same food she has always had then there might be a problem. If you have changed her food, that is the problem. A bird learns to eat by watching other birds. That way they don't eat something harmful. A bird will probably not try something new unless you slip it into the food it knows in very small amounts. Eventually, the new food becomes normal.
Total wive's tale.

Answer After a visit to the doctor for my first prenatal checkup, I experienced this. Since hormones in your body are changing it is not uncommon to develop extra yeast. It is not technically a yeast infection because you show no symptoms of a yeast infection. But the yeast can irritate the cervix causing some slight bleeding. Before using any cream to try and eliminate this problem, you should see your doc because you shouldn't just assume this is the problem, it could be something else. Answer
Depending on how far along you are... If you know for sure that you are pregnant, it is probably not going to be your period, although some women have experienced a "first" period then learns a couple of weeks later that they really are pregnant. It is possible that it could be implantation bleeding caused by the fertilized egg to attach itself to the uterine wall. Or it could be a cervical change that can cause vaginal bleeding. Vaginal bleeding can also be a symptom of ectopic (tubal) pregnancy. Another cause for bleeding during pregnancy is a miscarriage although the first two reasons for bleeding are more common, it is still a good idea to contact your doctor if you are too concerned.
