Can a felon be a fire fighter?

In the State of Illinois, a convicted felon can serve as a volunteer firefighter. However, most departments/districts require background checks on perspective members and most volunteer districts/departments will not allow convicted felons to serve on their department. I do know of 2 volunteer departments in central Illinois that currently have convicted felons serving as volunteers because, the nature of their felonies were not violent. In short it all depends on the by-laws of each individual department and/or district. I don't know of any volunteer department or district that will allow a person convicted of a violent crime to serve as a volunteer firefighter.

Can probation test for spice?

I believe it is due to the rules stating you cannot use illegal drugs or alcohol nor abuse over the counter and non-presciption meds. So even though it's legal (example robutussin=robo trippin) you would be still be "abusing" a drug which is against the rules. But the trick is, you wont get nailed on a urine test cause of the synthetic cannibinoids being non traceable in a standard urine test from your P.O. Word of advice is use it if you feel but dont smoke it for a few days before your test. And always take it in VERY small moderation. Just today a group of me and my friends had to practically save a friends life cause he went into a very bad trip and had minor seizures, convulsions, and severe dissasociation and was pretty much paralyzed. again BE SAFE

Can a person be on probation if they have not been convicted?

No. If they weren't convicted of something there would not be any need for them to be on probation. If someone is on probation it means that they are serving an alternative to incarceration..

How does a felon get a job?

i am an ex con who has tried in several places to obtain employment and every attempt is futile, we paid our debts to society yet we are cast away like we are some kind of disease. the only option that we are really given is to continue to be criminals and i assure you many of us no longer want that lifestyle, we can sell drugs and live comfortably, we resort to what we know and that is how to hustle, most of us pulled several years, i served 8 i grew up in there, what else is there for me? i have several license and i have an associates degree yet that is no good because i was young and made poor choices, convicts are always going to be held down in some form, we are job security for the cops and politicians with out us the society will fail, that is why we cannot get jobs, the system wants us to resort to our old way of life, basically they created us so they can stay employed, for whomever reads this that has not made stupid mistakes, the next time something happens in your area remember you chose not to help that person by giving him/her a chance you cast them out, people have to survive, think about it logically, anyone disagree?

What happens when you violate probation when not found guilty of that crime and will probably be dismissed?

Im confused, if you were found not guilty of a crime, then what were you given probation for and why wasnt it dismissed at the time when you were found not guilty. Usually, that is what happens, unless you got probation for another part of the crime that wasnt part of this judgement. When you violate probation, you go back before the judge and between them and the probation officer they decide if you should go to jail or get more or different type of probation and more FINES. Is it really worth the hassle?

What is a probation status hearing?

If you are on probation and get a charge in another county will the first county be notified?

If your probation officer is doing his/her job it is quite likely that during a routine check on you it will turn up. As odd as it seems, it would probably be in your best interest to advise your PO of this before they find it out for themselves.

Can a convicted felon become a parole officer?

Usually, the answer is no, not if they have been convicted. I am sure there are a few officers who have committed felonies and just have not been caught. There was a wanted criminal who took a job with the police. He made one serious mistake on his first day there. He ran his ID in the computer and was immediately arrested.

My brother is on probation and he has a room right next to mine and probation officers come to the house every once in a while to look around could the officers come into my room and search it?

If your room is completely separate from your brother and your brother does NOT have access to your room then the PO cannot search your room. The PO is authorized to search your brother's room and ALL common areas such as the living room, kitchen, bathroom, etc.

Can a felon work in a union?

I do not believe there is an criminal law prohibiting it.

Can a probation officer terminate your probation?

In Cuyahoga County, Ohio , The PO can only make a recommendation to the judge, but the final decision is entirely up to the judge.

-----------------

YES HE CAN MY PO TERMINATED MINE AND ALL I DID WAS ASK

Added: I think it might be safer to say that if your state's laws grant termination power to the PO, then he can. Otherwise, they make the results of their investigation available to the judge who will then make the determination base, in part, on the PO's recommendation.

What are the benefits of a parole board?

If some convict has been rehabilitated, and is ready to leave prison and to become a productive member of society, then both the convict and society will benefit from his or her early release; it is very expensive to keep people in prison, and prisoners are generally not accomplishing much if anything with their lives while in prison. So, a well run parole board can make an accurate assessment about who should and should not be granted an early release.

Does a parolee have to pay a parole officer?

Many states charge a monthly supervision fee. I cannot speak for other states, but in Missouri Parole officers do not collect fees. The parolees all over the state mail their fees to one location and it is deposited into a fund used to pay for programs such as substance abuse treatment and electronic monitoring. Parolees are provided self addressed envelopes. Parolees CANNOT be returned to prison for failure to pay fees.

What are my rights as a parolee?

Want to know what to do about a parole officer that is tyring to do everything to put someone back in jail. he has done nothing wrong and this guy is trying everything to violate him.

Can you work in another state with a parole violation?

Contrary to all the BS you find from purported know-it-alls, yes, you most certainly can travel outside the USA while on parole. I speak from experience of course, on state parole in NY. The Department of State has issues passports to virtually anyone, except if you have had charges of importing drugs into the states within the last 7 years. Traveling out of the country while on Parole is no different than traveling out of the state while on parole. All that is required aside from submitting the dates of departure/return, is for the parolee to ask permission from their parole officer, state the purpose of the visit, and provide address and telephone number of where you can be reached. The country must have US extradition policy and of course permit a felon in. At the end of the day, persons with felonies can go wherever they want. They simply have to ask first.

Another common myth about felons is that they cannot vote. This also is BS. Yes we can, yes we do.

In Michigan how long is life sentence?

Natural life. The current Director of the MDOC, Patricia Caruso, and her band of lackeys currently on the state Parole Board have stated repeatedly that life in Michigan means life. Life with the possibility of parole is nothing more than a statement on a sentencing document; their focus is on the word life.

How long do you go to jail for robbery?

I takes about 5 minutes from the first time you aim a weapon at someone

When can somebody's parole be denied?

This would be at the parole board's discretion and can happen anytime. Usually if serving a long sentence (20+ years) after the first parole hearing parole may be denied. A parole date can also be taken if the inmate behaves very poorly in prison.

What happens at a probation status hearing?

Some of it will depend on the Jurisdiction, but generally, your PO will review the conditions of probation again with you and give you an opportunity to ask questions. The PO will want a list of all your prescription medication (take the patient information sheet the pharmacy staples to the prescription bag), proof of the highest level of education you achieved (take a copy of transcripts), some courts want proof of Driver's License and Insurance, some jurisdictions want you to carry a Probation ID card or Offender ID card, you will generally have to take a drug and maybe alcohol test. You will also register for your community service hours, any education or treatment programs that are ordered, and possibly the Substance Abuse Evaluation. The PO will also conduct an interview that is part of the Risk/Needs assessment. Some of the the things that I did not enjoy when my probationers did at the first meeting: 1) Show up late

2) Lie

3) Start any sentence with, "I shouldn't even be on probation . ."; "I didn't do this . ."

4) Answer a cell phone.

5) Bring children. Having a cute baby has never kept anyone from being arrested in our office.

How do you get on a jury?

okay, first you have to get jury duty. and that's just random selection...i don't think that there is any particular way you can "get on" a jury. If you get jury duty (a summons letter that comes in the mail), then you send in the questionnaire. if they recontact you, then you go the courthouse, and go to this room and answer some questions (some very personal), and then they tell you a few hours to a few days later if you made it. other than that, I'm pretty sure that you can't "get yourself" onto a jury.
