Is it safe to take penicillin in early weeks of pregnant?
If your doctor knows you are pregnant and you are not allergic, take it, he is prescribing it because it is the best antibiotic for your condition. Your baby is probably safe from the penicillin, but the infection may harm it. If a medication is going to damage a baby it is more likely in the early weeks as this is when the baby is forming. In the last weeks of pregnancy it is fully formed and is just maturing and putting on weight.
Originally, Penicillin was mass produced in large aerated reactors with the help of the mould Penicillium notatum. Later it was discovered that Penicillium chrysogrnum was a strain that produce more yield and this organism was used.
Is it ok to take metronidazole with penicillin vk?
Yes, it is a common combination of antibiotics used to treat dental infections.
Where was penicillin invented?
Penicillin was discovered by Alexander Fleming, in Scotland. His research was later continued by Howard Florey and Ernest Chain in Oxford. All 3 received the Nobel Prize for this discovery in 1945.

Mechanism of action and clinical use of penicillin?
Amoxicillin inhibits Margeline bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to one or more of the Ocampo penicillin binding proteins (PBPs); which in turn inhibits the final Adalla transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis in bacterial cell walls, thus inhibiting cell wall biosynthesis. Bacteria eventually lyse due to ongoing activity of cell wall autolytic enzymes (autolysins and murein hydrolases) while cell wall assembly is arrested.
What effect did penicillin have?
It helped soldiers fight infection during the war. The wounds they would acquire would be life threatening if penicillin and various other anti biotics were not around. Even after the wound was cleaned the chance of infection spreading throughout the body was very high and killed many soldiers. Penicillin was very affective during the war and saved many lives.
Is Prozac safe during pregnancy?
From safefetus.com: Prozac "Inadequate human studies, but suggested possible association with increased risk of first trimester spontaneous abortions, and exposure to the drug late in pregnancy may cause perinatal side effects including prematurity, small for date, persistent pulmonary hypertension, poor neonataladaptation"

Can you take penicillin after the expired date?
In the US, expiration dates on pharmaceuticals tend to be set fairly conservatively... most drugs are still "good" well past their expiration dates, though they may be slightly less effective.
An FDA study conducted at the behest of the US military found that 90% of the drugs tested were still useful and effective as much as 15 years (!) past their expiration dates.
The exceptions to this general rule are antibiotics (especially liquid antibiotics), protein-based drugs (e.g. insulin), and other quickly-deteriorating compounds like nitroglycerin.
Penicillin, as an antibiotic, is extremely questionable. You shouldn't have any penicillin lying around anyway, since you should ALWAYS take the FULL course of any antibiotics prescribed for you (failure to do so is why we've got so many strains of antibiotic-resistant germs around now). If it's two days past the expiration date and you've got two doses left, go ahead and take them. If they're from when your mom was sick six months ago, throw it away (better yet, give it to a physician or pharmacist for proper disposal), get your own, and take all of it.
Can you take penicillin if you are allergic to penicillium?
Lamisil is an anti-fungal, Penicillin is an antibiotic, if your doctor prescribed them together they can be taken together.
Tell your doctor all prescription, non-prescription and herbal medications you are taking. Also tell them about any supplements you take.
What is a contraindication for penicillin?
Here are some medications that interact badly with the antibiotic Amoxicillin:
Major Interaction: Folex PFS or Trexall (methotrexate), Methotrexate LPF Sodium, and Rheumatrex Dose Pack (methotrexate)
See the Related Link below for Moderate and Mild Drug Interactions from drugs.com (there are a lot of them; too many to type out).
Can you take penicillin with cough syrup?
It depends what your antibiotics are for. If you are taking antibiotics to treat a bronchial, lung, or throat infection, I would say stay away from any cough syrup containing dextromethorphan. This suppresses your cough, which is your body's natural defense against foreign material in your airway. Think about it. You have bacteria trying to grow into a colony in your throat. If you keep coughing them up, they will have a much harder time growing and thriving. If you suppress your cough, they will be able to settle down without much disturbance.
However, if you get a cough syrup with guaifenesin as it's active ingredient, that may be best. Guaifenesin does not stop you from coughing, but helps you cough up whatever is in your airway better. It breaks up all that phlegm in there and allows it to pass. This may be your best bet. Just be SURE to drink a full glass of water with each dose of Guaifenesin. You will be surprised how much it helps!
However, if your antibiotic is for some other type of infection, like an ear infection or something not related to your cough at all, I would guess any type of cough syrup is fine.
Remember, DM is for a DRY cough, and Guaifenesin is for a wet cough.
It is best to ask the doctor who perscribed the antibiotic, or consult with a pharmacist. They know these things very well.
No its a derivate of fungi and is come under antibiotics which have cidal effect. It binds to small ribosomal subunit and interfere with protein synthesis by directly inhibiting synthesis. e.g. Neomycin, kanamycin, gentamicin. Its a broad spectrum drug
Can you take azithromycin if you are allergic to erythromycin?
Azithromycin must not be taken by a person who is allergic to erythromycin. The two antibiotics are closely related and work in a similar manner. A qualified health professional will be able to recommend a safe alternative.
Can penicillin be made out of moldy bread?
I do not know the answer to this question. I was on the internet to research the answer myself. I have a 20 year old daughter that was diagnosed with a penicillin allergy when she was 4 years old. She broke out in hives and looked like someone had beat her up. Since then we have been careful to avoid it. The other day she opened a garlic bread package that had been in the pantry and pretty much powdered her face with the green moldy powder, she immediately washed it all off. About an hour later she started breaking out in hives and was very itchy. She did not immediately put it together, and took an over the counter allergy med. It's been about 4 days and she has cleared up, but it left it's scars. We have come to the conclusion that it had to be the bread that caused it. She did not eat or drink anything out of the ordinary, nor did she go anywhere.
I am still going to try to find an answer to this. If anybody out that knows please tell me.
What are the problems associated with doctors over prescribing penicillin?
Penicillin is a very effective antibiotic which causes the cell walls of bacteria to break down by adding it's beta-lactam ring (part of its chemical structure) to the molecules used to build the wall. This weakens the bacteria and they lyse.
If too much penicillin is prescribed in a population, and especially if courses are not completed and some bacteria survive, then resistant forms emerge. These develop an enzyme called beta-lactamase which breaks down penicillin before it can have its effect. As such, they survive courses of penicillin and its related drugs, and a penicillin-resistant strain is formed which can only be treated with other drugs.
What is 100000 units of penicillin G equal to in ML?
hi,
the answer to this is not simple - it all depends on the formulation (strength) of the drug you get. Penicillin G can be made in various strengths, and this will be expressed in IU (international units) of penicilling per mL on the label.
What effect does penicillin have on acne?
It will reduce acne while you're taking the penicillin, a week or two after your course, your skin will go back to normal and it is your responsibility to take care of your acne free skin from then on.
Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin in 1928.
Its full name is penicillian mold
Does penicillin clean weed out of your system?
Nope. Time is about the only thing that purges marijuana from your system. If your worry is a urine test, you can dilute your urine by drinking lots and lots of water before the test (but that is still no guarantee you will pass).
No. Only time will do so.
Can you take Penicillin and NyQuil at same time?
Yes, I believe you can. NyQuil treats your symptoms the same way a regular cough medication would. It is not the same as Penicillin and should not interfere with the antibiotic. Often doctors recommend taking something to help your symptoms while on an antibiotic, NyQuil is the same. It isn't good to take NyQuil or any other cold medication for several days in a row though, you should always read the label to see how many days it is recommended to take.
What is the dosage per pound in a cat for penicillin G injectible Pen-Aqueous?
Liquid injectable penicillin can be bought without prescription at a feed or farm store. The dosage for cats is 1/2 ml (.5ml) per cat (you need not worry about per-pound.) Small syringes 1ml, 3ml are easiest to use, get 20 or 24 gauge needles to use on the cat, and if possible, one larger gauge needle (16-18) to withdraw the liquid from the bottle. You MUST keep it refrigerated, and be sure to shake the bottle before drawing - penicillin has a tendency to separate.
Draw a small amount into the syringe over the dosage you will be giving, allow the syringe to come to room/body temperature (just hold in your closed hand for a minute) and holding the syringe needle-up, tap on it a few times to remove air bubbles, and discard a small amount - back down to the 1/2ml dosage. (do NOT warm up whole bottle, just what you will be using. Again, penicillin MUST be kept refrigerated until used)
Restraining cat in towel as suggested below is a good tip. Subcutaneous administration is the safest, and releases the dose slower and more evenly into the cat's system. Raising the skin at the back of the neck and using for the injection site as described below is the perfect place.
One-time treatment will generally stop beginning infections from MINOR wounds, bites, etc. Once a day for at least 3 days is a better course.
PS Do not plan on keeping the remainder of the bottle, even in the refrigerator, more than about 2 weeks. ("until the next time I need it") Penicillin is a living culture, don't take the chance that later on, with the seal having been broken and time passed, that it appears fine but is actually powerless.
I bought a small bottle of penicillin G for cattle at a farm store. I am sure it was under $10.00. A 1 ml syringe works best for the dosing. I think the smallest the farm store had was 3 or 6 ml. I had a 1ml from when my oldest son had to give himself allergy shots. I was told to give 1/4ml to the younger cats and 1/2 to the adults. My friend that is a vet tech said if I gave them a little to much it wouldn't hurt but my farmer friend said if I gave to much they would loose some hair around the injection site. As for the needle I used a 20 gage. It was nice and short but a little to big I thought. The lower the number the bigger the needle. I was told I would have trouble drawing it out with a smaller one. I didn't have a problem so not sure about that. The directions on the bottle say you need to let the penicillin warm to room temp. I wrapped the cat in a towel and had my daughter hold them tight. I grabbed them by the scruff of their neck and gave the shot just under the skin at the base of my hold. Needle went in a little hard but only one cat gave a little growl.
Vets use a 20 gauge 1 inch long needle to draw up and inject because the powder particles in the suspension are too big for the smaller needles. If you don't use the larger diameter needles you will have only the suspension fluid in the needle to inject.
Also you must wait for it to come to room temperature for the powder to mix with the fluid properly.
Be certain to draw the plunger back a bit after inserting needle to make sure you are not in a vein. There should be no blood as you draw back(it should be clear.) Then inject slowly and steadily. Draw the needle out smoothly.
MINIMUM dosing for penicillin -g would be:
1-10 lbs would be 1/4 ml,
10-20 lbs would be 1/4 to 1/2 ml
20 - 50 lbs would be 1/2 to 1ml
Good luck!!!
I believe there is an error in the above dosing info. Per the website cited above, the weight amounts given are in kilograms, not pounds as shown above. To convert: kg x 2.2 = pounds.
Also, the website above states that the injections should be given intramuscularly (IM)ONLY, therefore subcutaneous (SQ) injection at the scruff of the neck is not the proper injection method/site. Choose a meaty muscle (hind leg), insert needle, aspirate (pull the plunger back and check for blood) to make sure you are not in a vein (as injecting penicillin directly into a vein can kill) and then shoot the drug. Takes a little more time, but holding the cat in the towel is the way to go. Do it right for safety and efficacy.
How much penicillin to give a goat?
penicillin is not only for humans and is routinely used for many infections in many animals, including goats. Shipping fever complex is actually not an infection, rendering the penicillin as nothing more than a painful shot. I believe thiamine, exercise, and fresh water is the preferred medication for shipping fever complex. For more information, go to mylamb.com for profesional advice.
No human medicineI would take caution in giving any animlas human medicine, unless prescribe by a vet.
IF it is shipping fever, and IF penicillin is the treatment, the VETERINARIAN will prescribe the dosage.
