Presbyterian versus conservative Baptist?
Liberal Presbyterian/Presbyterian/Baptist/Conservative Baptist
There is a segment of the Presbyterian Church the Presbyterian Church USA that has Agreements of Communion Complete with church denominations that condone homosexual ministers -
They also are big into the "Jesus Seminar" - see link provided.
The denomination within the Baptists, "Conservative Baptist," is a section that came out of the "Southern Baptist Conference," due to some of the Southern Baptist missionaries not believing in the "Virgin Birth."
Of course, a main difference between the Presbyterians and Baptist is that Presbyterians believe in "Infant Baptism." Both believe in Eternal Security, (OSAS). The ideas of the Presbyterians are more hyper-Calvinist, (hyper-Charles Finney also called it hyper - knowing that this TULIP ideas began 50 years after Calvin's death). They tend to have a stronger stance on OSAS than Baptist, and also are into Predestination that Baptist generally don't agree with them about. So, the logic of the Presbyterian Church USA is the Holy Spirit/Salvation comes in at "Infant Baptism" + OSAS = The person is saved no matter what sins they commit afterwards.
Look at the individual Church that you are visiting, and if they have the wording "Inerrancy," "Inerrant," or "Infallibility" in their Statement of Beliefs you will be on the right track.
How does intercessory prayer make a difference in others?
For centuries, Christians have believed and hoped that intercessory prayer makes a difference for others. Recently, some tests were carried out, with mixed results because of poor methodologies and the failure to ensure participation is 'blind' both to the patient and the doctor.
In 2005, the John Templeton Foundation conducted a carefully designed, double-blind trial of the effect of intercessary prayer on the outcome of surgery. The intention was to evaluate whether (1) receiving intercessory prayer or (2) being certain of receiving intercessory prayer was associated with uncomplicated recovery after coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. It was felt that previous trials showing a benefit had used sub-optimal methods of data analysis, non standard methods of randomization and allocation concealment, and untested outcome measures, while those showing no effect had insufficient statistical power to reach this conclusion.
Patients at 6 US hospitals were randomly assigned to one of 3 groups: 604 received intercessory prayer after being informed they may or may not receive prayer; 597 did not receive intercessory prayer, also after being informed they may or may not receive prayer; and 601 received intercessory prayer after being informed they would receive prayer. Intercessory prayer was provided for 14 days, starting the night before CABG. Any complication within 30 days of CABG would be regarded as a primary outcome. Secondary outcomes were any major event and mortality.
- Results
In the two groups uncertain about receiving intercessory prayer, complications occurred in:
· 52% (315/604) of patients who received intercessory prayer
· 51% (304/597) of those who did not receive intercessory prayer
Complications occurred in 59% (352/601) of patients who knew they received intercessory prayer. It was suggested that the patient's knowledge that he or she was being prayed for could have caused anxiety, thus resulting in a worse outcome.
Major events and 30-day mortality were similar across the 3 groups.
- Templeton Foundation Conclusions
Intercessory prayer itself had no effect on complication-free recovery, but certainty of receiving intercessory prayer was associated with a higher incidence of complications.

Mahershalalhashbaz Isaiah 8:1 "Moreover the LORD said unto me, Take thee a great roll, and write in it with a man's pen concerning Mahershalalhashbaz."
Jesus started His earthly ministry with 12 regular guys. And after He died, they turned the world upside down. Jesus and some of the disciples were Jewish. The rest weren't Jewish. But they were followers of Jesus. They weren't known as Christians. And after Jesus died, they were known as followers of The Way. It was a few decades before the world gave them the name Christian, which means "Little Christ". This was around 50 AD. Answer: Christianity was founded over 2,000 years ago in the year 1. There is no year zero, so we start our calendar from the year 1, which is the year that Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem, Judea. Jesus Christ founded the Christian Church in the year 33 AD in Jerusalem.
What does Jesus mean in John 2017?
In this passage Jesus says "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, 'I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.' " Many have found this passage difficult and wonder what Jesus means by 'for I have not yet returned to the Father'. However, one has to look to the original Greek and not to English (which can be notoriously ambiguous) for a much simpler answer than many written about in theological tomes. The Greek word for 'for' is gar. However, this word also means 'since'. Also in the original texts there were not the same punctuation marks, in the passage of what Jesus says, that we use. In the light of this, we can rewrite it thus: "Do not hold on to me! Since I have not yet returned to the Father, go instead to my brothers and tell them, 'I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.' " This implies that Jesus does not wish Mary to cling to him, but to go immediately to the disciples and tell them of the resurrection, whilst Jesus is still here and not yet ascended. I think it was Sherlock Holmes who said that often the simplest explanation was the one most likely to be true.
Do pentecostals really believe that except one speaks in tongues he or she is not a christian?
Pentecostals believe that a person must first confess their sins to God and believe in their heart that he died for theirs sins, was risen from the dead, and ascended into heaven. The next step is to be baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of sins. Then the person must seek for the baptism of the Holy Ghost. When a person is baptized with the Holy Ghost they speak in an unknown tongue. This is the initial evidence that they have the Holy Ghost. All of these steps are apart of the plan of salvation. If the Lord did not feel that it would not be important to tell us to seek for the Holy Ghost he would of not told us in the Bible. Most people do not agree with the statement above. This requires a lot of searching and seeking. If anyone would really like to know the truth on this matter, read after the death of Jesus, after his ascension. Do a study on Holy Ghost baptism, speaking in tongues. There is also speaking in an unknown tongue. This is apart of the nine spiritual gifts and is totally different from the baptism of the Holy Ghost. It all boils down to how bad you want to know the truth. If you want it bad enough then you will search and you will find your answer. Jesus himself said "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13 and "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:" Matthew 7:7

This is quite true in what you say, but you must remember that the punishment also applied to Cains seed. Cain was cursed with a dark skin as were all of his progenitors.
Since then Cains descendants have been a despised people who have been abused and segregated from all other races. Just as the Jews were and to some extent still are. Kamal Salibi (Secrets of the Bible People) says that the story of Cain is a conflation of at least four separate myths. That would explain the discrepancies. A slight glitch in the author's memory bank. It did not consider that there were only three of them (Adam, Eve, Cain) at that time.
