Sheafs of grain : a goddess of Spring growing things; a tie to Demeter.

A flaming torch : a reference to her journey though the Underworld and bringing life to earth.

Asphodel : a field of this grows in the Underworld where the dead dwell.

She is a goddess. She cannot die. She just goes to the underworld to live with Hades for six months.

Each year, she comes out of the Underworld, she is the Goddess of Spring, so she brings spring.

No, neither Persephone nor her husband Hades have any children.

Some myths says he did, and others don't. I believe he did because on some websites it has a link to his children's names. Not all of the Gods and Goddesses had kids though, so his might not have been with Persephone.

Persephone ate the pomegranates because she was hungry. Had she not been a goddess, she would have starved to death.

For half the year (autumn and winter) she was queen of the underworld but for the other half of the year she lived on the surface as a goddess of crops, life etc.

I think there is some dispute over whether he had a daughter or not. Some people think he had two daughters but this information is jet to be found out. Someone should look for a birth certificate for both of Albert Einstein's children.

The most famous story Persephone is associated with is the story of Hades and the pomegranate seeds. In this story, Hades, King of the Underworld, wanted Persephone as his wife. So, one day when Persephone went to pick flowers from a field, Hades reached abducted her, taking her as his queen. She grew homesick for her mother and Earth. Demeter had heard Persephone's cries and began an explicit search for her. Only Helios, the sun god, had seen what had really happened and told Demeter. While preparing to leave, Persephone accepted a pomegranate from Hades. This prevented her from returning to Earth because he who ate while in the Underworld would could not come back. Luckily, a negotiation was reached with Hades, who was usually cold-hearted. Persephone would only stay with Hades for half of the year, but then would return to Earth for the remaining half. Each year as Persephone left earth, Demeter would begin grieve, bringing on cold weather. But, when Persephone would later return, she would bring a vibrant glow with her. Thus, the seasons were created. Winter and fall occur when Persephone is with Hades, and spring and summer occur when she returns to Earth.

Eros, the god of love, shot an arrow at Hades and he instantly fell in love with Persephone. The first person he saw. He then raced up in his chariot of black horses and captured her to bring down to th underworld. Demeter, the goddess of harvest, did not let anything grow until she found her daughter. Then Demeter had a idea, she went down to the underworld and found Hades with persephone, and demanded her return. Hades, with no other option had to let her leave. but before she did he had her eat a few seeds (if you eat in the underworld u will have to come back) and one day Persephone wanted to go back and now she lives with Hades as king and queen of the underworld. persephone only lives in the underworld during winter and autumn, she is with her mother in the spring and summer. that's why there are seasons

Hades (Pluto is the Roman version of Hades) is the Greek god of the dead and the underworld. Persephone is the daughter of Demeter, Greek goddess of the harvest and growing plants. Hades saw Persephone, decided he was in love with her and kidnapped her. Demeter mourned the loss of her daughter and the world went barren of growing plants. Eventually the gods found Persephone in the underworld with Hades, but before she was found she had eaten six pomogranate seeds. Because she had eaten of the fruit of the underworld, she was bound to stay. The gods worked out an agreement that Persephone would spend 6 months of the year with Hades in the underworld, one month for each seed eaten, and would spend the rest of the year with Demeter. This is the explanation for the changing of the seasons - when Persephone is with Demeter, plants grow because Demeter is happy to have her daughter back. When Persephone returns to the underworld, Demeter grieves and the world goes barren, aka the seasons turn to winter.

Persephone is a Greek Goddess. She is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter. In her maiden form she is known as Kore, a Goddess of the earth, harvest, and nature.

She is married to the God of the Underworld and the dead, Hades. She is his Queen, and through him becomes the Goddess of the Underworld.

No. She had no choice. She was also forced to eat pomegranate seeds, which made them married. Also in all the myths I have read they say if you eat or drink any thing in the underworld you were traped there forever. The only reason Persephone did get out was because her father was Zeus.

She had superhuman strength and she could turn anything she wanted into flowers, she helped the Earth grow through the seasons and bring plants back to life.

It was a trick so she'd have to occasionally return to the underworld.

This is sort of my personal opinion, but here me out.

Imagine that just because you chose the shortest straw, you got stuck with the crappy Underworld as your domain. The underworld is dark, cold, creepy, and not to mention filed with dead people! You have almost no contact with the other gods, on account of they think you're creepy and evil, and you are feared by almost everyone.

Then one day, you see Persephone dancing in the fields with her mother. She is the picture of happiness, goddess of spring and harvest. She is also extremely beautiful and incredibly kind.

So you want her to love you. You want this beautiful, kind, intelligent girl to love you. Except remember, you're king of the dead, and completely socially inept, so the only way for you to be near her is to kidnap her.

Or you could have asked her out to dinner, but whatever.

Persephone only spends 6 months in Hades.

Demeter: to explain the growth of life on Earth.

Persephone: to explain the changing seasons every year in Persephone being Queen of the Underworld while the plants die, and goddess of Spring on Earth during her ascension.

By Hades who got shot with an arrow by Eros or better known as Cupid which made him fall in love with her and because she ate pomegranate seeds which made her stay in the underworld for part of the year

Because while in the Underworld during her first stay with Hades she ate some pomegranate seeds. Eating them bound her to the Underworld, and she must return to it for half of the year, and is able to be with her mother and the living for the other half of the year.

Hades kidnapped her and forced her to marry him. While in the Underworld, Hades tried to win Persephone's affections. Eventually Hades tricked her into staying with him by offering her a tempting pomegranate to eat. The pomegranate is the food of the dead and if someone eats it, they would have to stay in the Underworld.
