What kind of under water animals could be pets?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Some kinds of fish, such as guppies, goldfish, and platties make good pets. I would not suggest glofish because they are very suceptible to a disease called dropsy, caused by poor water quality. Dropsy is almost always fatal. African dwarf frogs make good pets. Although amphibians, these small frogs stay in an aquarium and occasionaly swim to the top of the tank for air. If you get african dwarf frogs, you should get a tank lid to keep them in. Look around your pet store for other options.

How to make pet adoption?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

This depends upon where you are adopting an animal from. If you are getting the animal directly from a previous owner, unless there is an exchange of money or registration papers, you simply collect the animal from the previous owner and declare it yours.

If you are adopting from a shelter or rescue organization, you often have to fill out adoption paperwork and pay an adoption fee. However, the process is typically relatively painless (although I do know of some rescue groups that do unannounced home visits to make sure you have the proper resources to care for your prospective pet) and can usually be completed within a half hour.

Do you pay when you adopt an animal?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Usually. Fees vary depending on the shelter, but there is usually some sort of fee to help cover the costs of testing the animal for various diseases and any other medical work that has to be done before it is adoptable. If the shelter you are thinking of adopting from has a website, fees are usually listed there.

Is dog adoption free?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There are sometimes free dogs in local newspapers. However if you can not afford to pay a minimal fee to adopt a dog you should seriously consider whether you can afford to keep a dog. There are many cost that go along with dog ownership including local license fees, shots, food, housing or bedding, dishes, neutering or spaying and possible other veterinary expenses. Often you are better off paying the minimal fee for a dog from your local shelter which will have already had much of the above taken care of for you.

Where can you buy a Doberman pinscher under 300 dollars?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The best place to adopt a dog or cat is always a reputable shelter. The animals are spayed or neutered and screened for general health, and it has the additional benefit of the fact that you are rescuing an animal that homeless and has nobody to love them.

You could call around to shelters in your area and ask if they have any dobies, sometimes they can answer those questions. You can also also look in ads in free sources, like Craigslist and local penny papers, and you can look at adoption boards in pet stores and online.

How much does it cost to adopt a cat?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

When I adopted My cat, it cost about $50 to adopt the animal from the shelter, but then there's these extra costs:

* Food dish and water bowl $20

* Micro chip in case your buddy gets lost $75

* Vet visit (you need to get one as soon as you get a cat) $90-$100

*Collar if you(or the cat) wants one. $8

*Food and water $35 (starting out)

* Pet Bed (if you want one) $20

So, it will cost you about $268. But, then, if you want to get "extras" like Toys and grooming brushes. And it will cost up to as much as $950 dollars a year for vet visits, food, and occasional cat-sitting.

Thank you!

How do you convince my mom to let me adopt a kitten?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I'm not going to be able to do much to convince your mother to let you adopt a kitten. However, you might be able to negotiate with your mother and be able to adopt a kitten.

The first step is to ask your mother why she is opposed to you having a kitten. There are some very good reasons why your mother may not allow you to adopt a kitten, ranging from no pet policies in your house (often imposed by landlords on renters) to someone in the household being allergic to cats. Also, cats are not free - they need veterinary care as well as food, cat litter and toys; if your mother can't afford a cat, it's better to not get one.

However, many times parents will deny a child's request for a pet because they are concerned the child is either not mature enough to take care of a pet or because they are concerned the child will get tired of the pet and stop caring about it. Both of these situations happen frequently, particularly when a pet is given as an unexpected present. If this is the case, you need to ask your mother what you can do to show you are interested in having a cat for years and that you are mature enough to take care of a cat. Whatever answer you get, do it without complaint. A cat is a living creature, so you can't have a bad day where you don't feel like scooping the litter box or putting out food and water.

If that doesn't work, I'm sorry but you are out of luck until you are living on your own. Once you pay the rent/mortgage, you get to choose whether or not to have a cat.

If you adopt a pet do you have to pay for it if its not netured?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Yes, but it's is a small price compared to getting a dog from a breeder. Usuallt for dogs it's between $60 and $70 and for cats between $40 and $60. Puppies and kittens are usually slightly more expensive because of the higher demand for them. Senior animals are sold for less to help more of them to get adopted.

Why is your cat so cute?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Some people find kittens cute, however others don't. I think it is probably the fact they are small, furry, mammals and appear to be helpless meaning we probably want to look after them.

Interesting fact- A cat can produce a noise at the exact pitch of a babies cry, possibly making us more likely to give them what they want.

Is it legal to own a pygmy marmoset in Illinois?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Yes, Pygmy Marmosets (also called pocket monkeys or finger monkeys) are legal to own in Tennessee. You do not need any type of permit to buy or keep one in Tennessee, but to sell one, you must have an exemption from the USDA. Also, they are illegal in Kentucky, as well as many other states, so travelling with them is limited. Just be sure you have a Veterinarian in your city who deals with these primates or else you will have a difficult time if they need treatment or check-ups.

Remember...these animals live approximately 15 years, and act like 2 year olds their entire life, so if you are not prepared for that, you may run into great difficulty if you decide to sell it. They are notorious for carrying Tuberculosis, and can also catch any contagious human disease they contact, including the common cold. Their bones are extremely fragile as well, so be sure you get a health certificate when you purchase one. Hope this helps.

Do you need a permit to own a sloth in America?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Nope! You just catch them in your back yard and keep them in a squirrel sanctuary (a spare room with plenty of space for the little critter, preferably with a tall cat house with lots of holes to go in and out of, windows for viewing outside, preferably brown to forest green walls, and plenty of assorted unsalted nuts which need to be scattered on the ground every other week (about 3 cups))

Or you could just keep them in a bird cage (about a 6x5x6 found at your local pet store or at a hobby store, if you would rather make one)

OR. . . you could leave them outside and not bother them, as that's the way its supposed to be!!!!!

What should you do if your pet died?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It is really up to you, to decide what you want to do. Many people will get another pet, if their pet has died. However, you may or may not want another pet. Think about your experience of owning the pet who died, and decide whether it worked out well enough that you would like to get another pet.

As for the pet who died, some people like to bury their dead pets with a full religious ceremony (of the type that you might use for a dead person), but that also is up to you. The body can be disposed of with as much or as little ceremony as you feel is appropriate.
